The #Vikings drafted six players in the sixth and seventh round this year. None of them made the 53-man roster.

Blake Brandel, Josh Metellus, Nate Stanley, Brian Cole II, and Kyle Hinton were cut. Kenny Willekes is on IR.

Only one of 12 UDFAs made the team: WR Dan Chisena.

That's why teams trade up instead of down. memo to Spielman

Vikings kept 11 on the D-line on the initial 53. Team did not want to expose rookie DT James Lynch to other teams via waivers and were able to keep Jalyn Holmes and Hercules Mata'afa as rotational rushers.

Good point. He loves to play wheeler dealer with picks, but it doesn't always add up to talent.

Those players could go PS and eventually be big contributors.

Actually keeping only 8 OL is a good sign they're going to bring in a couple that Spielman didn't draft.

Edit 9 OL

Chisena is the only UFA still on the roster.

All the rookies through round five are still on the roster, but none from the sixth and seventh round.

It was a tough year to be a rookie.

There will have to be more changes. We'll see how the dust settles. Of course we will be interested to see which of our cut players are being claimed by other teams and which players will land on the practice squad. I always think of myself as a bottom of the roster guy, but these decisions yet to be made will not likely to be impactful for 2020.

Edit: Sorry. I was repeating comments made earlier. I do that a lot it seems. Sorry again.

Dontari Poe was released, and Snacks Harrison is still out there. Either one of them would beef up our IDL.

With the veteran Jones likely going to the practice squad it's really like they kept 10, but that could change.

A closer look at the #Vikings 53-man roster by the numbers:

Defense: 26
Offense: 24
Special Teams: 3

Could they have Harrison Hand practice at safety? That would make sense. He could be the fourth safety and perhaps the heavy nickel guy. Still one more safety is needed to be picked up. Most likely a veteran. Sometimes they like to sign a veteran after game one is played so that the contract is not guaranteed.

The two fourth round defensive linemen will not be active, but the team clearly is afraid to expose them to other teams. We'll have to watch how that develops.

I thought the new rules stated we could protect 4 PS players?

Perhaps they have to clear waivers first IDK.

It looks like to me that they still have to clear waivers.

Players released Saturday still have to clear waivers in order for a team to place them on the practice squad Sunday.

Chisena is a special teamer. WR in name only. I like Osborn. Those that think he's KR PR only I think will be pleasantly surprised. Just dump Beebe and we got it right.

I would have thought Hollins deep threat capability would trump a soon to be injured Beebe

With Jefferson, Theilan both being able to play slot and how little we actually play it, I thought Hollins over Beebe too.

Is Beebe active on special teams too? I don't think he makes the back end of the roster without showing up on special teams, but I would think that he was cut he could could make it to the practice squad. I'm thinking that there are one, two or even three more cuts coming and those last cuts are excruciating. I imagine that the odds are better that they don't get plucked if they are held back even for just one or two days.

I think they had him returning a few punts but he wasn't very natural at it.

I doubt they want him on a coverage unit with him being fragile in all.

His father was famous for playing well on different phases of special teams. I just watched Chad on a video interview. He says that his strength is doing quick twitch short area cutting routes. . He's not a receiver that will stretch the field, but he might be a player that could convert a first down when the team needs 6 or seven yards. The defense may know why he's in the game, but it still may be hard to stop him. When we line up with an empty backfield and with four receivers, he may get the fourth CB who may be vulnerable in the match up. I mean, he's going to come in with fresh legs and the CB is coming into the game cold just for that one play. He won't be the other teams best CB.

He's a compact super twitchy version of Rudolph ... they both play on a 5 yard field regardless of what else is happening.

Maybe Beebo will get over his injury proneness like Rudy.
