Most improved QBs this season (per PFF grades):

1. Josh Allen (+24.9)
2. Kyler Murray (+19)
3. Tom Brady (+12.9)

(PFF on Twitter)

We are happy with the trade with Diggs, but the Bills have a right to be happy too. They are on the inside of being in the playoffs and we are on the outside. The point here is that Diggs must have had a big part in the improvement of the Bills offense this season.

Yes, though they probably would have taken Jefferson if they kept the pick at #22.

Had been wondering if that Brady kid was ever going to amount to anything.
Glad to see he improved.

Allen is in his third year.

People in here would have been demanding we dump him, calling him a bust after week 3 of his first season.

Daniele Hunter will give us some pass-rush back and he's pretty good against the run as well. Michael Pierce is mostly an unknown. Assuming Pierce ends up being above average (sorry folks who in making excuses for the coaching staff have deemed him a sure fire first ballot HOFer - above average is what we can best hope for) getting the two of them back next season might help us get two more wins. If we miracle into competent guards (we need 2!) that could also help us win about two extra games. 10-6 won't beat the packers for the NFC North. We'll have Barr and Kendricks at linebacker and that's going to have to be enough. We're going to need to have luck with replacing Harris and we're going to have to hope Hughes is decent at CB. Dantzler needs to be promoted to CB1 and Gladney needs to be coached up to at least average. Cleveland, magical competent G, Bradbury, magical competent G, and O'Neil can't have any injuries. Our offensive skill positions will be our greatest strength. Coaching will need to realize that and not start running out the clock in the third quarter when we're already down by six. Our roster dictates that we'll need to engage in shootouts. I won't hold my breath.

This who the Vikings will be with this regime in charge. Conservative with hit/miss drafting that mostly misses while continually trading out of spots to take better players.

If the Wilfs don't fire Spielman and Zimmer after years of inconsistent, low-ceiling performance, this is unlikely to ever change.

I don't agree.....the one thing having injuries to some of the core players.....it shows you the guys you can cut.

Rudy, (Conklin & Irv getting time), Wonnum has been a beast at times with Hunter out, Dantzler & Gladney have been good (Hill, Hughes), Dye and Harris have received time because of Barr/Kendricks injuries.

The problem with this regime has been holding on and letting previous starters hold positions .....have to bring in young guys constantly and play them.

And yet haven't really looked at the oline other than Ezra and that was an injury forced situation (and that Samia needs a lot more work and is unlikely to be starter material). Udoh should be getting time at G or T. With as bad as Dozier has been, Collins should be getting some PT. Getting a better feel for the oline is critical for the draft. Do we have an inhouse G or do we need 2 for next year??

Watts has been playing at NT - and not in passing situations. Pierce is, from everything I've seen, a stud run stuffer. He won't be in for most passing situations. Wonnum has shown flashes, more than I expected for a rookie. But Ifeadi is looking like a rotational guy, is that where Wonnum's ceiling is?

Hill was cut (which I don't understand, he gives a ton more effort than Jones) and I don't know if Hughes is anything other than a first round bust. We'll likely need an outside guy that comes in when Gladney moves to the slot. We've asked a lot of a Gladney.

We'd need another draft similar to 2019 with 4 immediate impact guys (oline, dt, de, safety) without a 2nd round pick.

Availability? Between suspensions and injury, I guess we couldn't count on him.

2018: 16 games, 3 starts.
2019: 8 games, 1 start.
2020: 4 games, 2 starts.

We'll probably never know...

Not surprised. You have historically slurped up everything management has offered. The Wilfs are horrible owners when it comes to actually fielding championship contending teams, and they extended a GM and Head Coach with zero reason to do so at that time. They can eat the contracts, and they should. If they don't clean house, they're content to ride the middling merry-go-round ad nauseum.

Is it somehow illegal to make the playoffs two years in a row?

He wasn't picked up. My guess is there's more to the story, given his demonstrated issues as well as the team's willingness to give him seemingly every opportunity to overcome them until they let him go. On the other hand, he's better than many of the remaining CBs, but we also hung onto Samia and Dozier and dumped Elf even though he was/is better than both by a healthy margin (though still not good).

What a strange team.

He was waived off of injured reserve, so that could be a big reason no one else picked him up. He's been hurt since Week 4.

It'll be interesting to see if he ends up anywhere next year.

This is a good overview of where this team stands going into next year. While it's a question mark right now, it's not a stretch to think that Hunter can return to Pro Bowl form and Pierce can be an excellent replacement for Linval. Draft a quality 3T DT and the line can do a 180 from this year. Our young CB's show promise with a horrific d-line. Imagine how much better they'll play with a front four that can actually pressure the QB.

Would you rather have Matt Patricia? Had a couple of snake bites in there too (Seattle FG miss game). You find me a Lombardi out there an I am game for firing Zimmer.....but if we get Steckle.

The one thing that Zimmer hasn't received is the QB play but most of it is due to injury......

No, people don't love Zimmer because of that---he can coach defense but he hasn't got the QB yet, Cousins has probably been the best QB we have had....

Waiting on what coach you think is out there....or do you just want him fired.

Same with Cousins....need a better one before you get rid of him.

Just one example of a hot commodity that failed miserably---they didn't hire Zimmer because he was a tough guy. They hired a defense first guy after the offense first guy failed after Favre retired.

Childress' best season was with a HOF QB.

Green's best season was when he had the stars aligned (Rookie HOF WR, another HOF WR, almost HOF QB, HOF OG, HOF DT)

So you allow fear to rule your decision making?

Strange team is right. He didn't play well earlier this year but even last year, when he came off suspension, wasn't given a lot of PT. Normally I wouldn't think anything of it, but as you've pointed out, a lot of curious moves (or non-moves). Sloter being another. Not playing Jones over Dozier. Etc.

Zimmer has had some bad luck and he has made the NFC title game w/o a stud qb or his assumed stud QB's injured (Teddy, Bradford).

Mahomes, Rogers, Brady, etc. make their coaches look good.....which qb should we draft. Hurts is even making Philly look better. I am on board with that before firing Zimmer.

Get the QB in the draft next year and Zimm gets 2 years.

Zimmer playoff record: 2-3

Childress playoff record: 1-2

Green playoff record: 4-8

But we love Zimmer because he's a 'tough guy'.

Why are my only options for replacing Zimmer guys who are proven losers?

Just one example of a hot commodity that failed miserably.

So you allow fear to rule your decision making?

"What if we do worse" is a valid reason not to make a needed change?

So I guess we keep Zimmer until he retires or dies?

Zimmer has had some bad luck and he has made the NFC title game.

Childress made the NFC title game.

Childress lost 28-31 in OT and got fired the next year.

Zimmer lost 7-38 and is still here 4 years later.

You must have Jeff Fisher and Marvin Lewis posters on your bedroom walls.

There was some possible interest on the #Vikings retaining WR Alexander Hollins by putting him on their 53-man, but he believed his best option was to move on to Browns 53-man. They could make the playoffs and it's a fresh start and he has a great rapport with Kevin Stefanski.
