If there is only one year left on OBJs deal no way am i giving up a 2 and a 5 for a one year rental

According to sportrac, OBJ is signed thru 2023.

https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/cleveland-browns/odell-beckham-jr-14421/

14,500,000 in 2021
13,750,000 in 2022 and 2023

There is no cap hit if we release him after 2021 but as you say, a #2 and #5 is tall cotton for a one year rental.

yes, but we can trade him after 2020 - so there's some value in ownership...also, it's $15.75m, $15m and $15m - you have to include roster and workout bonuses....

Cleveland got him for the 17th overall pick and a 3rd round pick (#96). After one year they trade him to the Viking for a 2nd and 5th. If he wears out his welcome here and we want to trade him after a year, what do think the return would be at that point?

Not a bad deal then. Those aren't bad numbers for a good wr these days.

Thanks for looking that up

Kyle Rudolph needs 12 Receiving TDs to crack the Top 10 of Receiving TDs by a TE in NFL history.

He currently ranks 19th on the list.

The one thing that I don't think anyone here addressed was how unlikely the Browns were to make this deal because of how bad it would make them look. Trade a first rounder and a third, along with a former first round starting Safety, for OBJ and then turn around a year later and trade him for a future second rounder and a future fifth? That would be a somewhat shocking admission of failure on the Browns part.

Beckham has over 1,000 yards in every season except one - when he only played 3/4 games...His stats are much better than diggs...some team would trade for that....

As you all know Wobby no longer is employed by the Vikings. There's a new guy beginning his new job with his first interview. I wish him well. I still miss Wobby.

https://www.vikings.com/video/mattison-reflects-on-his-long-but-fast-road-following-his-first-nfl-season

I reached out to him via Twitter. It looks like he was formerly employed by the Redskins (so he's not exactly a "rookie") and he was a small school wide receiver. His name is Gabe Henderson. I shared the story of my wife making the Vikings face mask for Mattison's mom and how she wears it proudly.

I just exchanged a few words with Sean Salisbury and he "followed" me on Twitter. . I feel flattered. I always have been his fan. It would be really cool to get him to come here. I have not been so successful persuading others to do so in the past, but I'll keep trying.

Did he show you his cellphone pics?

I thought Wobby was very good and I wonder if it was his choice to move on or the Vikings fired him.

Wobby definitely was fired. It's just not clear why. It might have been... well, I shouldn't say, especially because I don't know.

Wobby was too homerish for me. I never read his mailbag or articles; there was never any substance. Courtney at ESPN doesn't seem to do any investigative work, just regurgitates the latest intel/rumors. I rarely read her.

On a different note - recent (yesterday) source of rookie cap hit. This guy is saying 4.7M.

https://twitter.com/SeanBormanNFL/status/1250564023600533506?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fpurplepainforums.com%2Fthread%2F2966%2F2020-vikings-agency-roster-moves%3Fpage%3D67

Always interesting to me, how there never seems to be an accurate number. I thought last year it cost us 3.5M and I guess another first rounder with bonus spread out over 4 years only adds about 1.5M. It also helps that we are drafting later.

Wobby was employed by the Vikings so he had to be homerish.

Read an article where the author said it's very possible there were talks but highly doubted they would accept anything less than 1st rd pick and change in this draft not next years.

I don't know how many pick Clev has this draft but one would think they'd want to get the equity this draft. Cuz a 2 & 5 next year is like a 3 & 6 this year. Seems like a low return for a guy they gave an awful lot to acquire.

I never heard anything about Harris being included. Much better for us to cut Harris and get the draft compensation.
