According to Paul Allen today:

Just asked somebody who would know if #Vikings and Browns discussing deal for OBJ. Response was "Fake News."
I believe the source. #Onward

The one thing that I don't think anyone here addressed was how unlikely the Browns were to make this deal because of how bad it would make them look. Trade a first rounder and a third, along with a former first round starting Safety, for OBJ and then turn around a year later and trade him for a future second rounder and a future fifth? That would be a somewhat shocking admission of failure on the Browns part.

Pretty easily explained actually when it is a completely new front office, and coaching staff.

High dollar figured malcontent (at least perceived malcontent)

Browns aren’t ready to win at all.

Read an article where the author said it's very possible there were talks but highly doubted they would accept anything less than 1st rd pick and change in this draft not next years.

All reports link Harris plus a 2nd and 5th next year....

Those aren’t reports ... those are speculative tweets about a possible conversation.

We won’t know until we know ... and neither team is going to divulge details.

It isn't a tweet....it was from a NY Sports radio host with very good sources. SkorNorth had him on and yeah it is speculation but what isn't now? Pretty sure there was a conversation.

Harris by himself is plenty of compensation for OBJ. If he is involved no draft picks should be.

I disagree. At least, if I'm Cleveland I don't do that.

So what are all the story lines for a Vinkings Bill's SB?

Each with 4 losses and no wins.
Diggs
Leslie Frazier
Heath Farwell

...

What else?

I mean it's enough for me but was wondering...

How many years later? This trade rumor has been pretty well debunked by sources with both the Browns and the Vikings. It was started by a WFAN host, who has no affiliation to either team. Paul Allen, as annoying as he can be, is one of the most plugged in people when it comes to Vikings moves and he said the whole thing is fake news. Browns beat reporter, Mary Kay Cabot also said it was false. Yahoo NFL reporter Charles Robinson supposedly hounded every source he could find with both organizations and was told "unequivocally" that there were no discussions and that the Browns have no interest in trading Beckham.

It ain't gonna happen.

If the Browns really want Harris it makes a lot of sense to happen. Straight up. No draft picks involved.

You're dreaming if you think no picks is appropriate compensation.

It might not happen but I doubt there were no discussions. And if there were discussions anyone countering saying fake news and such don't have much to stand on.

I have no problem believing there were no discussions. This sounded more like a product of pure speculation than anything else. The original proposed trade of draft picks for next year, made absolutely no sense for Cleveland and would have the Vikings in the position of having to immediately shed $7 million in payroll. More speculation surfaced after the fact to cover those flaws. Multiple sports publications have now investigated and universally come to the conclusion that it was bullshit.

Coach Charlie Weiss says he never heard rumors that didn’t have at least some factual basis.

That kernel of truth could be anything. That the Vikes and Browns discussed anything under the sun can be parlayed into whatever rumor you want.

I don't believe anyone when they say anything a week before the draft. I especially don't believe anyone that says someone isn't going anywhere.

ODB's twitter has been really quiet lately.

When you hear 'fake news' or 'no chance' I'd say there's a 25% chance the 2 sides are interested but compensation asks and offers aren't being met.

Yeah, when I hear fake news or no chance from people who have great sources from both teams, and then multiple sports publications investigate and reach the same conclusion, I'd say there is a 99% chance it's not happening.

My guess is that the Browns contacted us about Harris as he is a FA they have some interest in and there was discussion about a trade. We asked if OBJ was available in a Harris trade. They said yes, but you will have to throw in a 2nd and 5th along with Harris. We said no thank you. The end.

OBJ is barely worth the money he is paid. That is why no compensation of picks. If he was signed for $3 million a year for the next three years I would offer a first round pick.

this just in....

Ian Rapoport@RapSheet
From NFL Now: The #Browns never had talks with the #Vikings on Odell Beckham Jr., and one reason is Cleveland is planning for him to be on their team.

I don't care if Rappoport is reporting it I don't believe it. I have heard for a long time that the Browns want to move on from OBJ. Too much smoke to not be fire.

It came up a couple times past year that OBJ wanted off Browns... Sort of an Diggs type situation, more and more players are forcing teams management to move on by becoming a distraction by said player/ agent using social media and such to create false rumors to point team even though they want to retain tallent becomes fed up with BS...

Good chance this is what is happening with another WR diva in OBJ to some extent, just how much will new coaching and GM of Browns take before the right compensations comes along to move on from a player who doesnt want to be part of a team... ala Diggsy....

The difference between the Diggs and OBJ situations is that the Browns addressed OBJ's issue when they fired their coach.
