Percy wants back into the NFL....

He missed three years now and he hadn't played more than half of the games since he left Minnesota. I hadn't recalled that he played four seasons for the Vikings. He was a good choice for us, especially since we got Rhodes as the draft pick in exchange for trading him.

On the plus side he threw a weight at chilly. On the minus side he punched Doug Baldwin (I think it was Baldwin) the night before the super bowl. I think he also punched another Seahawks WR shortly before the super bowl. On the plus side marijuana just got a more favorable testing status with the NFL. So maybe with the marijuana he’ll be less likely to punch people and throw weights?

I don't know what it is, but wide receivers tend to be Diva's head cases or whatever.

Pete Bercich suggested that this player should be on the Vikings radar for the first round. I believe he will be available in the second round. He's a little bit like Hunter was- a diamond in the rough.

He also loved Kinlaw, whom we would have to trade up for.

He played really well in one Super Bowl. (kickoff return for a TD) I just remembered now that the following year they lost in the last minute. Was that the year?

Some people at Daily Norseman are goo goo ga ga over him. Have him as the #2 player in the draft and ready to trade up for him if he lasts beyond pick 10 overall.

I'm getting hammered on Twitter now. I wish I could do a poll question here. Let me ask everyone who cares to respond- do you like the idea of trading for Williams? I am opposed to it because the guy hasn't played a full season for about six years and he's 32, wants a big long term contract, and the I believe the salary cap will actually go down next year. Oh. Plus we would have to give up a higher draft pick.

First a correction. IMO people should state the age the player is now. Williams is 31 and will turn 32 on July 19th so you're not far off it just bugs me. He is a health risk no doubt. I have heard it would take $16 million per year with a possible discount for Minnesota as that is his preferred destination. I think he can be had for Reiff and our 89 or Reiff and our 105 + 132. That's pretty cheap. All in all I would be willing to do it as I think the potential reward is worth the risk.

Would you be willing to give him a long term contract on July 19 when he is 32?

I'd have no problem with 3 years. And I'd go 4 if the final year was easy/cheap to get out of.

How long term? 4 years would be fine with me. I wouldn't want to go longer and of course the contract can't be fully guaranteed.

Interesting note on the Trent Williams situation: The #Redskins have closed the window for Williams and his agent Vince Taylor to work our a trade, sources tell me and @RapSheet. Teams often want full control of these situations heading into the draft and that’s the case here.

Maybe a trade has already been worked out. If not this is bad news for the Vikings being we are his preferred destination if my source can be believed. I do trust him.

I think I would have to have a really good idea what would happen next year under the salary cap if they play games without crowds before I would consider giving him a big contract even if it did not cost a draft pick. Same with Harris. I am not saying that I am against it, but if the thought is the cap could go down by a big number next year, than I am 100% opposed to either.

There would need to be language in the contract regarding the cap.

If there is an organization that can screw something up, it is the Redskins. Why would they do something like that? Wait until all of the top-tier OT's are gone from the draft and wait for your phone to ring.

Washington is the NFL equivalent of the Timberwolves. They could f*** up a one care parade.

Thank you. That is the kicker for me. I was fence straddling before. I don't know what the draft pick sacrificed by the Vikings in the trade, but I do believe we can get a really good player in the second round, especially if we sweeten it up a little bit with a trade up.

It's funny how time gets muddied up. I thought no easy was that right...Rhodes picked with Harvin's trade pick.

When healthy Williams is a beast.

We haven’t had anyone of his talent on the OLine since Steve Hutchinson, and Williams is more talented.

If he indeed is simply a malcontent then I get the hesitance. But I don’t know that to be cut and dried.

I’d be all over getting a LT of his esteem, and would feel much better about our chances going into the new season.

It is a rumor that has been going back and forth for months now, so I’m not sure it’s not already a dead deal.

I have a vivid memory of Super Bowl IV vs the Chiefs. The game was almost over and there was a sideline shot of Sunde. He looked very sad and tired. He looked very human- not a husky larger than life football player, but a human being just like all of us. That was what I thought at the time. It was one of my saddest moments as a Vikings fan. We were supposed to win that game, but it went the wrong way. I was just a teenager at the time.

The next season the Chiefs played a game at the Met and the Vikings whipped them. I went to that game. It was small consolation, but at least was a day of revenge.

First game of the season. First Vikings game I ever watched. We crushed them IIRC. That's what made it so frustrating. It was the very next game we played and they weren't in our class at all.

That's right! I didn't recall that it was the first game of the new season. Everyone believed we were the best team in the NFL. Somehow it never happened that season either. I remember we had a quarterback controversy then.
