The only pick I'm not sold on is The Chazz.

Seems like a 5th or 6th round ST'r.

I'm so glad we kept our 3rd rounders. Love the QB, love the Guard, and I love the DE especially.

We're so going to kill it this year!!!

If Davis and Darrisaw play to their potential, we've got a good oline. That makes me happy.

Agree. Big ? on paper now is Cleveland at G.

A depth G , particularly one that can also back up C, wouldn't hurt in the later rounds.

The line that makes the most sense would be:

Darrisaw-Cleveland-Bradbury-Davis-O’Neil

Spielman rendered last years pick of Cleveland as our future LT meaningless. At least if there’s an injury to Darrisaw, Cleveland should be able to step in at LT.

Exactly. It's important to have a lineman or two with some versatility to play both inside and out.

How does the board think of Mond as our back up QB next year?

Kapernick is my comparison
Davis dropping due to knee but is a leader.
Remember Chazz has the speed to play safety and is smart and good on pass def. Might be our safety.

i see chazz as a possible barr replacement next season - imo we need more of a thumper as the 3rd lb in our base package...i thought that dye was a bit of a disappointment last season...chazz seems like a better project than dye....

i sure hope davis has an anchor - elflein put me off of ohio state guards....

Chazz would be a weak side defender. One of his weaknesses is shedding blockers.

same as Wilson, same as dye - people here didn't like gedeon, but he wasn't shy about being physical...much better against the run and the absence of it showed itself last season....

About the only prospect left that I know of as a possible Sam LB replacement for Barr would be Jabril Cox.

Good stuff Tom, CB Robert Rochell would be an intriguing option. TE Briley Moore-McKinney seems like nice depth/development.

Any speedy WRs left? Raw and athletic?

There's a lot o WRs left. I think the position got under-drafted a little because of it.

With no combine to compare times its hard to know but sportingnews has:

(of the WRs available)

Shi Smith 4.33

Racy McMath 4.34

Simi Fehoko 4.37

I forgot about Fehoko in my targets list above. 6'4 222 ... I've seen him on a couple of sleeper lists. Tests faster than he plays but still ...

I don't have a time for him but another big fast wr getting sleeper mentions is Tamorrion Terry Florida State. He is actually rated higher than Fehoko.

Just caught up with all the draft stuff. I am pleased with our picks so far. I garner much of my info from you folks & really appreciate the info you all provide here.

Spent most of the past few days prepping house & flight to Minn. from our winter home in Florida. Can't handle very well 0300 wakeups and 3 legged flight trips anymore. But it felt good to wake to bracing sunny day with ice cold tap water on tap.

Yard is greening up nicely & will start flower seedlings today.

All in all life is good. Had a rough winter in FL with my health issues. Happy to be fit enough to get at it.

Again, thanks to all of you on these threads for your postings. I'm usually late to the table with my viewings of posts here but it is a very enjoyable part to the start of each day.

cox ran a 4.52/40 last monday...on the consensus big board he's rated #6, surratt is #8...it wouldn't bother me to pick him up in the 4th round....

Rick Spielman said the Vikings tried to get up into the 2nd round but the asking price was too much. Instead, they were able to stay put and draft "the quality players we were able to get in the third round."

I think very little of our depth behind Cousins so ill be very disappointed if he's not #2. Its a low bar but saying that...I hope he shines.

absolutely he should be the backup - don't want to have three qb's on the final 53....

If Mannion is so important to the QB room. hire him as a coach rather than wasting a roster spot on him.

The only way I could see them justifying signing Mannion is if they want to 'redshirt" Mond.

Mond’s taken a lot of snaps in college, should be ready to be a backup.

Yeah, they probably wanted a 3rd and a 6th and of course the 6th is like gold to Spielman.

Jimbo Fisher-coached QBs haven't exactly adjusted well to the NFL.

Jamarcus Russell
E.J. Manuel.
Jamarcus Winston

Ponder

Of course he'd be a better backup than Mannion.
There may be mechanical and other issues they want to correct if they think Mond could be a long-term starter.

So Spielman lucked out being able to get Darrisaw after not getting any takers to trade up from 23. Then he tried to get into the second round but didn't, regardless of the draft capital needed to do so. So he failed with that objective.

I wonder if GMs have certain criteria they use to informally grade performance of other GMs. I think they'd give Spielman a D based on the above. The fact he got an equivalent 'value' to a second from the Jets makes no difference in that.

PFF's draft simulator now includes all the picks made so far, so you can see how things might play out.

Jimbo Fisher is about the worst name on earth a QB draftee should want to be attached to.

Not impressed with Mond, but that's what you get for a 3rd rounder plus he is intriguing plus he at least has mobility (not sure on pocket presence). Excellent project QB w/o being a frame-off restoration.
