Marty I will spell it out for you.

Media Mania/Country Music thread was created after the same attempt in the Twins Thread...there is history there. Take a peak and you will understand more. KG posted something there as recent as 6/21....but when there isn't any activity in the CM thread--- pages 126-131 in the Vikes Talk start happening coincidentally 6/22. Then KG pretends he doesn't know what he is intentionally doing, blames someone else for creating the mess, posting off topic, etc.....cycle, rinse, repeat.

As Easy Peasy to post in Media Mania/Country Music Thread as a Cousins to JJ completion. Pretty much proves that KG wasn't ganged up on; he knows.

Phil you made 5 non Vikings related posts on Page 131 alone. Give it a break. We have always, always, always made off topic posts here. If we would just quit arguing about off topic posts that would eliminate half the off topic posts. I won't make another post about off topic posts.
Go Vikings.

I don't mind getting off topic a little from time to time...but I like the conversation to steer back to the Thread topic rather quickly. Which is why I try very hard not to engage in off topic debates. and once I feel it has been going too long that's when smarmy Trekgeek posts trying to steer the conversation back to the topic of the thread occur.

I appreciate what you're saying Scott. I agree it's good to get back on topic reasonably quickly. I didn't think what Marty and I were doing was harming anyone, but clearly some took offense. I do believe there is a double standard. If it had been Sweens and DL discussing AC/DC for example I don't think it would have been met with the same hostility.

However, smarmy with most people will elicit a fight back response. Like cornering an animal. Sure the person could take the flight approach and just leave. I have really been holding back against my nature to get very aggressive when bullied. Every fiber of my being wants to strike back with smarmy or what I call snarky responses. However, that would just piss people off. I know it wouldn't lead to anything good.

PFF list of NFL’s best contracts features four Vikings
Not a surprise at all

By Christopher Gates Jun 27, 2021, 4:18pm CDT 69 Comments

We talk quite a bit around here about the outstanding job that Rob Brzezinski and the Minnesota Vikings do with how they handle contracts and the team’s salary cap. If they’re not the best in the league at what they do, they’re certainly near the top of the list, and a recent list from Pro Football Focus highlights that.

PFF put together their list of the 32 best contracts in the National Football League, and the Vikings lead the pack with four players on that list. If you count Stefon Diggs, there are five contracts on the list that were negotiated by the current Vikings’ front office.

The highest-ranked Viking on PFFs list is Danielle Hunter, he of the newly renegotiated deal. His contract comes in at #3 on the list.

Prior to missing the entire 2020 season with injury, Hunter had the most quarterback pressures among all edge rushers over the 2018-19 seasons with 154. Not only is this deal phenomenal value in hindsight, but at the time of signing, Hunter was just 23 years old coming off of 2016 and 2017 seasons in which he ranked top 20 in WAR among all edge rushers.

This contract was revised earlier in June, with the Vikings effectively converting it into a one-year deal with an ultimatum to extend or release after the 2021 season. Even so, when considering what Minnesota has been able to do the last several years in terms of spending, Hunter’s contract remains a top value league-wide.

Obviously, the Vikings did an outstanding job of getting Hunter back into the fold. The hope is that he’ll have a big season in 2021, one that would land him either a huge chunk of money or a new long-term deal with the team. He’s still just 26 years old, so he’s got a few more paydays coming. Hopefully they’ll be in Minnesota.

Harrison Smith is also in the top ten of the PFF list, checking in at #7. The Vikings are also represented on the list by defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson (#27) and linebacker Eric Kendricks (#30).

The Vikings found themselves in a difficult cap situation coming into the 2021 offseason, but thanks to the magic of the Wizard of Brzez, they keep managing to keep their stars happy and add talent as well. You can’t ask for much more from a front office than that.

I hate having any Vikings on the list because the flip side is they're basically saying the Vikings are taking advantage of these players and the players were really stupid to accept the deal. How do you think it makes Hunter feel to see this article saying he was totally hoodwinked by the Vikings right after he signs it.

Or they are saying (Richardson as an example) are coming here cheap because they see what we have a chance to do this year.

It also says that signing Kendricks and Hunter a few years ago was a good deal for the team.

If we have improved O-line play, I'm sure Cousins will have much improved 2 minute play as well. If he is comfortable the protection is adequate, Kirk should have a very good season.

I agree Phil, the Packers Front Office has to be very uncomfortable in their Chairs right now. If Rodgers sits and the Packers flop, that will be very bad for them on multiple fronts.
I said last time Rodgers got hurt the Packers would be the worst team in football. Maybe not quite accurate but they were likely bottom 5. It could be very fun to watch as a Viking fan.

Richardson acknowledged he waited too long and took what he could get at the point he signed. A good deal for the team sounds like a bad deal for the player.
I like it when the Vikings sign the players to team friendly deals. I don't like somebody coming out with a list telling the players that they were suckered into a team friendly deal.

Good article. I'm happy to see Zimmer is looking at mixing in new schemes. The article also provided some interesting insight into the season Peterson had last year and what was really behind some of the numbers.

There's a novel thought. Tailor your scheme to the strengths of your players....

Makes me feel better about Peterson too. Keep him out of the slot and at worst he's a solid CB.

Put Barr in a position to shine and this defense will be enough to carry us. They won't have to bc were going to have a top offense to go along with.

Griffen texted Allen that he “bleeped up” with his tweets regarding Cousins and that it was wrong.

Allen also mentioned Griffen still has people in his corner with the team

I just don't know if we can bring him back (Griffen)....probably rather have Houston if needed....Thoughts?

Is scheme familiar and possible team schism Griffin a better choice than Houston?

I'd like Griff to be part of this potentially/hopefully special season.

I think we'll have a starter between the 3rd and 4th round selection but this team doesn't usually flesh that out in their 1st or 2nd year. Griff > Weatherly.

I hope they do it.

Always liked Grif. He is a shoe in for the Viking ring of honor.

I'd certainly consider bringing him back if his mental health is stable.

I think Justin Houston would be whom I'd target first though. If we can't land him at a reasonable price then bring in Grif.

Still think a vet G is the higher priority at this juncture.
