Danielle Hunter is 'liking' tweets that mention him being traded. Back when Ngakowe was traded there was rumors that it was TWO star D-linemen that weren't happy. This would be a disaster to lose him unless we can get two first round picks or better.

Sweeten up his deal with some more money upfront(if neck checks out)Add a year if need be.
Get him into Top 10 range for DE.
Lower his cap number(this year) a little while we are at it.

If he declines, we have him under contract for 3 more years. Sit out and throw away 40M if he wants.

The problem is that you don't want anything less than his 100% best. So good will is needed here and well deserved for Hunter.

The good will is sweetening his deal.

I can't think of a time where Hunter wasn't praised by the FO and coaching staff.

Not saying this is the case for Hunter but a lot of the NFL players want the NBA deal where you can basically force your way unto any team you want(to a certain extent).

They(NFL players) just approved a new Labor Deal so the majority basically got what they wanted.

All of this assumes money is the issue. It might not be.

You have said that twice now.

What do you think the problem is? What is another reason?

I don’t think he likes the way we get conservative and sit on leads. I think he wants to play in a more aggressive scheme. I think he’s frustrated that we only rush four on third down so often. He’s seen us get smoked in the big games too often.

I know we have a lot of other needs but I would really like to see us get LB Parsons from Penn State. A blitzer who can finish.

We also need to shore up secondary before we start sending the house more often.

It’s six of one and a half-dozen of the other. A stellar pass rush allows the secondary to get by with less talent. We have hunter already. Why do we need excellence on the back end too?

I'm saying we can't be putting 2019 Rhodes or 2020 Jones, Tankersley, Fields on the field and be where we want to be.

Ball has been out quickly to a toasted CB too often the last couple years. Pass rush can't even get there.

Dantzler and Gladney are a good start but we need Hughes or a FA vet or draft pick to solidify DBs.

Another article with Cousins going to SF, this one has the Vikings giving a 4th rounder, gaining Garrapollo and a 2nd rounder:

https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/nfl-trade-machine-this-kirk-cousins-jimmy-garoppolo-deal-could-actually-work/ar-BB1ekTJx?
ocid=st

Then you send Garrapollo to NE for a 1st rounder.

Then you either trade up for a top 10 QB selection, or trade for Watson.

And this also makes sense, because NE is very much interested in Garrapollo:

I wish the dominos would start to fall on the QB merry-go-round. The wild speculation is getting ridiculous.

Watson is the big holdup IMO. If Watson truly refuses to play for Houston and they don't move him before the draft the Texans will be the laughing stock of the league.

Zone Coverage: Only Six Players Remain from the Minnesota Miracle Roster by Sam Ekstrom

WHO’S STILL UNDER CONTRACT: WR Adam Thielen, T Riley Reiff, LB Anthony Barr, LB Eric Kendricks, DE Danielle Hunter, S Harrison Smith

The turnover from our 2017 roster came as a surprise to me.

Since he's taken over, RS has drafted 5 first round players in the secondary and hired a supposed "defensive back guru". Seems like a whole lot of resources for someone who's specialty was getting the most out of little at the position.

Here’s the deal: Wilson is flashier and arguably more athletic than teammate Anthony Barr. He is a pretty good pass rusher and an astute pass-coverage linebacker.

But he does not defend the run well – at all.

His 2020 Pro Football Focus against-the-run grade was 38.3. That is atrocious. In 2019 (his last full season of production), Anthony Barr posted a run-defense PFF grade almost double that of Wilson. No matter how one spins it or rationalizes Wilson’s performance, he is an incomplete NFL defender when compared to Barr.

Well yeah. That’s why Wilson made $3 million to Barr’s $15 million.

Or in 2019, $600,000 vs $5.6 million.

Parsons is a beast. Would love to see him in Purple as I expect to see him as a very good LB.

It's not as a desperate need as OL though. It's been a lot of years now I've been pleading for OL, but once the draft starts there always seems to sexier picks. We absolutely need to seriously upgrade the Ol.

Given Hunter's neck uncertainty, his displeasure with Purple, and our Cap issues,
start shopping him.

Miami would be great match for their #3 overall, #36 overall, and next year's #1.

Take Wilson at #3
Or Lance (my next choice)
Or Fields

Edge Rusher like Parsons at #14
Best Int O-line at #36

Fire Zimmer/Spiels and start winning!!

I could be proven wrong, but with Hunter's neck situation we are not going to get two number ones for him. We will be selling low, right now.

"Vikings guards produced a cumulative overall grade of 50.6 to go with an abysmally low 37.9 pass-blocking grade"

would love to have a small amount of cap space to go towards a guard, maybe something around 2.5 million? oh, yeah that's right...

Probably have to get a FA Guard as the current OL coach consistently has the Guards rated low at pass blocking, unless the OL coach is replaced.

Better playcalling and unpredictability could also help pass blocking.

And then a QB with a quick, accurate release, and mobility.
