I was hoping the Vikes had released their OL coach.

+1

Here's the latest on the cap level.

Source: 2021 salary cap is "almost definitely" going to be $182.5M per team.

As I wrote in my Tuesday story on the OL, the Vikings' ability to be active in free agency hinged on the decision with Reiff. They're finally under the cap and have room to go after a free agent guard if they want + move Cleveland to LT (or RT and have O'Neill to LT) & draft high

The Vikings announced they have released left tackle Riley Reiff, w move that comes with $11.75 million in cap savings. Reiff was due a $5 million roster bonus on March 19.

It's a buyers' market on guards in an offseason where all contracts will be smaller in general because of the salary cap shrinkage. Releasing Reiff was the correct decision when we already have two tackles that can play. (in the case of Cleveland - we hope). Give me a line of Cleveland, FA/high draft pick, Bradbury, FA/high draft pick, and O'Neil.

Still have Udoh, Collins, and Hill too. Hill has subbed at LT multiple times and done well. Like David F said....OGawrd.

I heard that the Vikes are really high on Hinton. I heard the same about a couple of others and less than impressed.

I would add that a third or fourth round pick on guard is just fine. Use round 1 on defense.

Looks like KC is suddenly in the market for a couple of tackles.

Five of these kids belong together. Five of these kids are kind of the same. But one of these kids is doing his own thing. Now it's time to play our game.

Try to get that song out of your head for the rest of the day now! Haha.

Barr has to be traded or cut.

Kendricks is x2 the player and 5M cheaper.

Colquitt restructured to NFL minimum. 1.5 million savings.

#Vikings GM Rick Spielman on KFAN punter Britton Colquitt's contract being restructured: "We were able to restructure Colquitt's contract. I know Rob (Brzezinski) did a great job with that." Colquitt will play for the veteran minimum of $1.075 million.

I think you are being a bit generous to Barr in calling him half the player Kendricks is.

Dude has a $15.1M cap hit with $7.8M in guaranteed money. Next season it's still $5M in guaranteed money and $15.6M cap hit. A restructure just makes it harder to get rid of him two, three, or four seasons from now. The only restructure I like would be to give him all his guaranteed money this year and that's it. $7.8M for this year total (all guaranteed) and then who cares what the remaining years look like because we can cut him after this year.

It's not out of the realm of possibility. We get two defenders back that we missed last year. One of them is all-universe excellent and the other we know little about but comes highly regarded (Pierce). Our CBs have experience now. The offensive line MIGHT get upgraded. Justin Jefferson should literally EXPLODE this season. We will have a bit of room with regard to the cap so we can sign one good free agent. We also have six picks in the first four rounds.

At a minimum, expectations should be to make the playoffs. If I were in charge I'd put the goal at winning the division and going to the Super Bowl. It's attainable.

Dead cap is better:
21 7.8
22 5.2
23 2.6

I think the problem with Barr is if he isn't 100% healthy he doesn't seem effective....bigger issues than the contract.

Maybe Barr has been physically compromised by virtue of the way he plays the game. (so violently) He's not a finesse player.

I would add that a third or fourth round pick on guard is just fine. Use round 1 on defense.

Yes, hopefully another Samia, Elflein, Clemmings or Beavers will, uh, fall into our lap.

Or a joe Thuney or graham glasgow. You never know.

The definition of insanity is ... oh never mind.

I hope we find a way to pick up a 2nd rd pick for an OL since that seems to be our 'sweetspot' during Spielman's GMship. (if Cleveland holds up)

PLUS another in the 3rd or 4th rd in a desperate gamble to break the 3rd / 4th rd cycle of draft shame. For development purposes.

Not in prayer for a Thuney or Glasgow.

1st
Kalil, Bradbury

2nd
O'Neal, Cleveland

3rd
Elflein (oof!)

4th
Beavers, Clemmings, Samia (OOF!)

I actually loved the Kalil pick....his injuries..uugh. There are going to be misses and injuries. Keep drafting (like they should be doing at QB).
