DE Stephen Weatherly on returning to the #Vikings: "I really didn't know how important it was to have that bond with your D-line coach and just guys you play next to. I kind of took that for granted. To be back in Minnesota it means a lot, with (Andre Patterson) especially.''

The Vikings have released CB Tae Hayes and CB Cordrea Tankersley. (Clearing up 1.77 million in cap space.) Wow that was easy.

Ah yes. The days of score a TD, turn around and hand/flip the ball to the ref. When tackling 5 yards out of bounds was legal. It's interesting Foreman didn't seem to have many "big" days. Seemed like it was always 20-25 carries at around 4 yards a pop. It showed one where he had 20 carries for 80 yards, and one of those was like a 50 yarder. Of course he was bigger receiving threat than almost any other RB in those days.

Just hand the ball to the ref or you're wrong. No room or tolerance for anyone else. That's how it's supposed to be, so it must be.

I just checked and the anniversary of the Diggs trade is March 16th. (Same day as the Hopkins trade between the Cardinals and Texans) I mention that because there's no guarantee, but there is a reasonable chance there could be another trade involving our favorite team in the next few days. I mean, after free agency begins the team will be focusing on that and when that winds down they will be focusing on the draft. So the next 10 days are the most likely window for trades, I believe. It could be Anthony Barr for a later draft pick or Anthony Barr for a guard as examples.

Danielle Hunter is 'liking' tweets that mention him being traded. Back when Ngakowe was traded there was rumors that it was TWO star D-linemen that weren't happy. This would be a disaster to lose him unless we can get two first round picks or better.

Sweeten up his deal with some more money upfront(if neck checks out)Add a year if need be.
Get him into Top 10 range for DE.
Lower his cap number(this year) a little while we are at it.

If he declines, we have him under contract for 3 more years. Sit out and throw away 40M if he wants.

Depending on how I search the salaries on spotrac it appears that Hunter is already in the top 10 but just barely. He's 10th in average salary per year per contract. He's 13th in total cash for 2021.

It might not be money that's the issue.

We have to get this one right. Providing he's healthy, he makes our entire DLine, and individual DLinemen, so much better.
He's young and not a lot of mileage, even going back to Baton Rouge.

Having a defensive player that opponents have to game plan for is extremely valuable.

The problem is that you don't want anything less than his 100% best. So good will is needed here and well deserved for Hunter.

The good will is sweetening his deal.

I can't think of a time where Hunter wasn't praised by the FO and coaching staff.

Not saying this is the case for Hunter but a lot of the NFL players want the NBA deal where you can basically force your way unto any team you want(to a certain extent).

They(NFL players) just approved a new Labor Deal so the majority basically got what they wanted.

Look how the ends opposite him in 2019 struggled in 2020 (Odenigbo and Griffen).
