I think I'm bi-polar political and why I've gotten along with such a wide array of people

Darth Vader was an elitist liberal who reformed just before his death.

Vader was a facist until right before his death...

Aren't Fascist's elitist liberals.

I don't think it's always so much of the politics that is the problem even though many on here couldn't agree on the right way to wipe their ass. I think it's the overbearing deliveries. People take themselves way to serious and think of themselves as being way too important. There are no "meat swingers" here even though some think they are. At the end of the day, we are just a bunch of dudes posting on a football board. So lighten up Francis.

Even when he was Anakin he already leaned heavily to the right as evidenced in his conversation with Padme when he said 'if the people can't agree on what's best for everyone then someone should force them to'.

Like that famous righty Stalin?

Actually you broke it.

When Vader didn't get what he wanted he would kill by choking or crushing someone's throat. He had no qualms about reporting complete bullshit to the media (send out a distress call and then report that no survivors were found). That's a very conservative and facist thing to do.

Very leftist and Stalin thing to do. The left is very well known for those tactics. Scott also the way you were spelling facist vs the way I was spelling Fascist was bugging me so I Googled it. Turns out I had it right. So now you will know how to spell fascist in the future.

OK I agree. Hitler is a famous lefty.
Nazi was short for National Socialist German Workers Party.

I hardly ever talk politics anymore. I hate when science enters the political realm and can't even talk with my own family about it (science when politicized) and that's having degrees in biology & chemistry.

I find the Dunning-Kruger effect to be more and more prevalent.

In my life I've heard of the Kruger Dunning Effect twice. Both times on this message board. Today due to your use I looked it up to become more knowledgeable about it. Wiki says future studies somewhat debunked Kruger and Dunning's findings, but all in all it has merit.

Didn't some philosopher come up with this effect way before Dunning and Kruger. Somebody said something like wisdom is knowing that you know nothing.

I would guess it's pretty rare for Zimmer to call a rookie DB "brilliant".

Any one connected with Bruce lately? Miss his presence on the board.

Not sure why Bruce hasn't been in here. hope he's ok.

I believe he was driven away by getting ganged up on in the Covid thread.

Wasn't my intention but I contributed to it if that's what happened.

He douched it up in that thread and got called on it by a couple people. He asked if he should leave and I never seen an open reply to it but perhaps pm's caused him to check out. And it's likely temporary.

Look, I like Bruce and his contributions just fine but he's an elitist conservative wrapped up in a saints clothing who thinks VERY lowly of people who lean left.

There are many on the other side posting here....elitist liberals that think very lowly of anyone leaning right....so there is that too. They never get called out like Bruce was.

I think Bruce was hired by the CDC as their official COVID policy soothsayer, had to take some time off.

He almost died from it so I probably wouldn't go there.

Go where? Seems like the thoughts he had on COVID policy a couple weeks ago, the CDC is pretty much in lock step with now.

Let’s break this down..

If you are not good at something, but, you do it not knowing that you are not good at it, but you think you are doing ok at it, because you do not know what you are doing., then you are doing the best, in your own ego, that you can do.

If you are being stupid, you don’t know you are being stupid, because in your world of ego, you are doing just… fine…

and unless someone points it out to you, because their experience and past experience of doing the same stupid thing, and finding out that “ right is not right”, Will show you a way to not be as stupid, if you are willing or able to listen or learn.

And people earn doctorate degrees for this ….

Christ almighty… the science of stupidity…

We are doomed…

Idiocracy.

Do you mean that you can't know that you know nothing because then you would know something?
I think in philosophy it's a given that not everything should be taken 100% literally.

Your post demonstrated exactly why I believe Dunning-Kruger behavior is becoming more prevalent. The internet.

I've taken 2-3 Psychology/Human Growth & Development course and wouldn't characterize myself as even a novice in cognitive development theories (1 tiny subsection of Psychology). You took a term, looked it up on the internet, read Wikipedia - open source (also ironic), and posted in on this site while giving a summary.

Meta-analysis/systematic reviews, the top level of the research pyramid, are not infallible. There are research websites that physicians use and trust, that will review all research studies for a topic and provide synopsis. Hospitals have dedicated resources to assist, both personnel and research libraries. The gradient across the spectrum to include sites like WebMD to Wiki to intentionally mislead/false is incredibly extreme.

If the total sum of human intelligence is doubling every 7 years (that number is probably outdated) and accelerating - the average person's (including myself) comprehension of the sum is, no doubt, an inverse correlation (and accelerating).

Idiocracy indeed. Another reference is A Canticle for Leibowitz written in 1959.
