ORIGINAL: Mark Anderson Bears also interested in Breeland. They have 200K in cap room so I doubt that goes anywhere. Breeland was insulted apparently by our offer per his twitter account. He must think he is going to get starter salary this late in the game? He could get an extra million after June 1st....but I doubt the Vikes offered any more then the minimum right now. The guy makes plays. 4-5M isn't unreasonable. If we can fit him and Geno Atkins under cap after June 1st, that would be a nice ending to the off season acquisitions. IMO 4-5 isn't unreasonable but it is unlikely. 2018 Green Bay 1 yr deal $880,00, $90,000 signing bonus 2019 KC 1 yr deal $2M, $1.15M signing bonus 2020 KC 1 yr $3M, $1.5M signing bonus "Breeland was arrested on April 28, 2020 for multiple charges, including resisting arrest, having alcohol in a motor vehicle with the seal broken, having an open container of beer or wine in a motor vehicle, possession of 28 grams or less of marijuana or 10 grams of hash, and driving without a license. The police officer who detained Breeland alleged that Breeland threw a “large blunt” into his car and he pushed the deputy out of the way and attempted to flee the officer before he was detained. Police found marijuana in the car as well as open bottles of beer and tequila. The morning after the arrest, he posted to his Twitter that the marijuana was thrown into his car, but quickly deleted the tweets. The arresting officer said that Breeland informed him that he was a “marijuana enthusiast”. Breeland was already facing a suspension for a failed drug test prior to the arrest.[51] He pleaded guilty on October 2, 2020 and received a 30-day suspended jail sentence and $100 fine for each charge" I don't see a lot of commitment from KC or GB the last 3 years to pay him starter money. I understand his frustration with that but its May 26 ... its not about what he thinks he's owed but what the market offers. Yes, he has decent experience but he was available when we signed Peterson Alexander. Right or wrong we projected them first (maybe because of their asking price) as our veteran starter competition ... it seems we may have circled back to Breeland as either Gladney insurance or an attempt to get quality depth at a bargain price. Which would be great but I myself would not pay him early free agency type money right now. Yeah. He is not in a position to be demanding starter money if he might be suspended by the League.
