ORIGINAL: Ricky J Seriously, who doesn't want at least one season with Cousins, O'Connell and the offense we have before we venture into the land of the unknown? Come on! If nothing else I want to see Cousins at least one year with this team and without Zimmer's influence Its definitely a ‘be careful what you ask for’ moment. Cousins would ensure the offense operates ter … so looking forward to a draft choice starter -or- journeyman QB + deat choice or Mond (plus any draft capital for moving Cousins) is looking down the barrel of a throttled back offense. To Marty’s point above, if you really believe that Cousins is NOT a big game QB … not sure how you can’t view him that way … you have to eat the buckshot and move on as quickly as possible. As painful as it might be in 2022. Similar? Maybe? Isn't it a given with Zimmer out of the way it takes similar and maybe out of the equation? As to Marty's flame out in the playoffs pessimistic view? Come on! That's weak - who is going to know about that with almost all variables changed (except the color of the uniform - oh know, maybe that was the wrong analogy JJ's done with year two. AT will be looking at retirement soon. Tick tock - but like Harbaugh, I'll roll with whatever - but my moneys is on We're sticking with an above avg QB and giving it a shot (I'll go as high as $100) You said it yourself, 'almost all variables changed'. Will what we add zero out and improve on Zimmer? Sure, that's my expectation but its no given. At the very least, it might take time for a new HC, coaching staff and players to coalesce. We took the risk on the new guy, so hopefully O'Connell is who we think he is. That's my expectation but its no given either. That's not pessimism, its not 'sitting crossed legged on the floor handing out daisies' optimism either. So yer not crowning his ass just yet.
