To be fair to Cousins, he has engineered 18 game winning drives over his career.

Which is far more than I realized. It puts him currently at #69 all time (for game winning drives). there are obviously a bazillion variables to that ...

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/gwd_career.htm

I haven't found current stats for game winning walk-off TDs ...

Someone called footballperspective.com has Cousins with 7 game winning TDs before 2020 ... did he throw any last season? I honestly can't remember. The NO playoff game and last weekend are the only 2 TDs I do remember ...

https://www.footballperspective.com/which-quarterback-has-thrown-the-most-game-winning-touchdowns-through-2019/

If no, he currently has 8 walk off TDs (incl CAR last weekend) which, again, is more than I have been giving him credit for.

.....

I dunno. Even watching him play really well this year ... it just feels like he is too risk-averse, too methodical ... taking what he can get over looking downfield for chunk plays.

Then again, 57-57-2 ... he gets way too much blame and credit ... but 57-57-2

There should be a stat "shoulda-been-game-winning-drive". I remember Daunte Culpepper leading us back for leads in the 4th quarter (sometimes multiple times anybody remember the Doug O'brien/Buffalo game?) many times, yet the defense would immediately piss the lead away. And Culpepper got the rep as a QB who couldn't rally a team.

Cousins has more game winning TDs than Two-minute Tommy but unless he does some damage in playoff games, I doubt he will ever reach that level of sentimental value for fans.

But I am biased, for my money he is just too blah.

There is one other option ... besides a SB ... that would completely alter my opinion of Cousins,

if he did this:

Any particular player you would like to see Cousins bean in the helmet after a touchdown?

Mike Zimmer or Rick Spielman…

Yea, not players.. but ..

EPIC!

Francis Tarkenton@Fran_Tarkentonh
I’ve never seen this footage before but I remember it well! Watch for #53. That’s Mick Tingelhoff, my center with the Vikings. Sometimes I’d start a fight, but Mick would always finish it!

Didn't he throw a strike to the back of the head of Bubba Smith, too?

OMG!!!!

This is some seriously bad officiating. Hard to believe it's against GB ... The FG clearly has the spot marked correctly, what's the referee doing?

Literally every stereotype played out tonight. Prime time kirt, zimmer after bye, zimmer vs teams with winning records, clock management, last two minutes of halves, and surprise back up nobody QBs eating our lunch while doing our girlfriends. Did I miss anything?

Again…

Breeland being Dallas’ best offensive player in clutch time…

Zimmer in all his brilliance chose not to put any competent assistant coaches on the team this year, that way there is no one to replace him when its obvious he needs to be fired. MASTERMIND...

Crowd seemed a little quiet tonight(not that they had a lot to cheer about). Too many cocktails?

Zimmerball takes the crowd out of the game... another reason Zimmer and his 70s throwback insistence on no flash, no emotion, stoic old school mantra is LOSER BALL...

He’d be worth a look. Also Brian daboll.

I feel like Zimmer has made this entire team unlikable. It rots from the head down. A good first step would be to get rid of Zim, Spielman and Breeland. Can't do those soon enough.

The really sad part is, Zimmer was probably feeling pretty good about all this until his ace in the hole Barr missed the Elliott tackle on third down before the final TD throw to Cooper. In his mind, they’ll kick a FG then we’ll have final possession to win it or go to OT. Just like we drew it up before the game.

Meanwhile, all the fans … horrified by the performance on both sides of the ball … hate what is unfolding in front of them.

The difference in perception is a yawning chasm between Zimmer’s ignorance and disconnection on one side and the institutionalized let-down that fans have had to bare since the team first started.

Time to focus on the draft.

I would prefer a new GM before the draft.

I would have hated to be a paying fan at that game. Given Zimmer's penchant for bs spin notwithstanding, we all saw that disorganized mess he put on the field. I would want a refund if I had to witness that in person.

I'm tired of watching the forced and labored efforts to get Jefferson the ball.

Doesn't look natural at all.

Eat the $. Let Cousins go.

Yes obviously.

And all the rest.

I’m talking about jumping forward through time … AFTER whateve is going to happen, happens. They dont deserve my hand wringing or beating my head against a wall. Nor do I need to bother seeing the rest of implosion.
