We're not necessarily set at receiver going forward. i kind of agree with you...I've seen some mocks that have us trading back with Pittsburg, and finding drake london still there at #20 - and us pulling the trigger there, while drafting cb's with our 2nd & 3rd rounders and a top guard with pitt's traded 2nd....

london - CB - guard - CB --- that seems like a nice draft right there...we'd be setting the table for our 1st round quarterback pick in 2023....

I think Osborne/Smith Marsette looked really good late last year...not sure why you would draft a WR that early when they have a higher bust rate and you already have Jefferson and Thielen.

Drafting a Theilen replacement isn't a bad idea.

But we have greater needs.

Yes and yes. If I get one this year it's no higher than 4th round. Competition for Bisi for 5th WR and development project. I make WR a higher priority in 2023 after QB.

CB, G, C need to be top priorities this year.

The only reason I think WR would be good to get this year is there is A LOT of talent at that position in this draft.

But for every JJ there are three Laquon Treadwells.

treadwell should be playing tight end,....

Speilman fell in love with guys. Hopefully KAM and Co. take emotion out of it and pick best players.

I wouldn't be too upset on the drafting WR at 1 since they have used most of their FA money on the defense again, I just don't see us not grabbing one of the 3 cb, S Hamiltion, or DT Davis.

deebo samuel is strong - fast and strong - breaks tackles - very tough to find a clean hit, and bring down....

they mention watson as a kick returner, but i'd just try to develop him into a great wr #2....

i like the idea of preparing for a young drafted quarterback in 2023 with a great receiving corp...thielen can hang around as #3...also, we'll probably need to give up three 1st round picks to move up for a quarterback - so building up the wr's will be difficult later on....

i am totally open to trading back with #12 for another 2nd round pick....

12. Minnesota Vikings
Derek Stingley Jr., CB, LSU

Stingley is a tough evaluation. If Minnesota gets the 2019 version of his game, this is a steal at No. 12. But the injury-plagued uneven play we've seen over the past two years makes this pick risky. The Vikings still have a need at cornerback despite signing Patrick Peterson (who will turn 32 this summer), and there is no denying what Stingley is capable of doing on the field if he puts it all together. Stingley can wear a lot of different hats on defense, shows great instincts and has the ball skills and speed to lock down receivers. And the Vikings can let Peterson -- a fellow LSU alum -- help Stingley adjust to the pro game.

The interior of the defensive line is also a concern, and Georgia's Jordan Davis and Devonte Wyatt deserve some lengthy thought. But ultimately, I just think it's too early to go that route.

46. Minnesota Vikings
Perrion Winfrey, DT, Oklahoma

I mentioned that the interior defensive line was something to consider when I gave Minnesota a cornerback in Round 1, but Winfrey would be an excellent pick at this point in Round 2 to satisfy that hole. The Vikings allowed 4.7 yards per carry last season, tied for third worst in the NFL. And Winfrey has the first-step quickness and active hands to shoot gaps and blow up plays in the backfield.

Through FA the Vikes seem to be ok with guys that have recently been injured, so it wouldn't be a surprise if their 1st round pick was an often injured player like Stingley, or maybe WR Jameson Williams.

How mad you'd be If you passed on Stingley and he's great vs how disappointing it would be if he fizzled out and you missed on CB again.

I'm ok if he lands elsewhere.

I'm a little bit more back on the wr wagon...with the way wr $ is going.

We can get a solid WR in Rounds 2 or 3. That is probably the deepest position in draft.

My realistic order(assuming Sauce is gone and Thibodeau red flags are overblown) for #12.

I would be ecstatic with Stingley or Davis. Davis was held back at Georgia(run stopper). He could be a 3 down monster.

jefferson is going to want top-5 quarterback money - and i mean next year - no way he goes into year four without a deal - which means forget the 5th year option...we might just want to trade him for four 1st rounders next season....

i would be good with CB -- WR -- G or WR -- CB -- CB

i like the kid from the dakotas....

He measured in at 6-0 1/4, 188 pounds, 30 5/8" arm length and 74" wingspan, per 247Sports' Shea Dixon. Stingley also raised eyebrows by running an unofficial 4.37 40-yard dash, recording a vertical of 38.5" and a broad jump of 10'2." Quick look at the draft from the perspective of what the potential needs will be in 2-3 years:

Offense
- QB, might need to wait until 2023
- WR
- IOL, now and forever it seems
- RB, but would not pick one high

Defense
- Pretty much everywhere. A case could be made to draft high now to build each level of the D, although LB is ok for now.

If Sauce, Stingley, and Davis are gone, consider trading down with a focus on IOL and a next tier CB.

Don't forget McDuffie from Washington. He's not as big as Gardner or Stingley, but he is able to shut down a #1 receiver. He also plays big in run support.
