All 32 NFL teams were in attendance for LSU's Pro Day on Wednesday, and Stingley was the main attraction. He measured in at 6-0 1/4, 188 pounds, 30 5/8" arm length and 74" wingspan, per 247Sports' Shea Dixon. Stingley also raised eyebrows by running an unofficial 4.37 40-yard dash, recording a vertical of 38.5" and a broad jump of 10'2." Per Dixon, the 40 time and vertical would have ranked in the top five among cornerbacks at the NFL Combine, and both would have ranked first among the cornerbacks being discussed as first-round picks.

Man, if we are able to pick Stingley up with 12 and he performs as well as he played in 2019, we win the draft. He's a great corner who can play man and zone.

https://www.nflmockdraftdatabase.com/mock-drafts/2022/consensus-mock-draft-2022

Stingley to Minny! This gets updated a lot but probably doesn't factor in Stingley's pro day results.

By far the most commonly mocked player to a team.

Yep, every teams fan base makes the player they “ really want/ need” fall to them in a mock…

Mocks are fools gold.

Quick look at the draft from the perspective of what the potential needs will be in 2-3 years:

Offense
- QB, might need to wait until 2023
- WR
- IOL, now and forever it seems
- RB, but would not pick one high

Defense
- Pretty much everywhere. A case could be made to draft high now to build each level of the D, although LB is ok for now.

If Sauce, Stingley, and Davis are gone, consider trading down with a focus on IOL and a next tier CB.

Don't forget McDuffie from Washington. He's not as big as Gardner or Stingley, but he is able to shut down a #1 receiver. He also plays big in run support.

I think he'll be available later than 12, and doubt he can shut down #1 WRs.

In this draft go with either spectacular or quantity (trade down).

Watch when Sauce and Stingley are gone they pick Davis. Then they pick DL again. With Tomlinson and Watts coming up for free agency and Phillips kind of an unknown, there may be a method to that madness.

6'6", 340, 4.78 forty.

Bill Parcells might need to update the weight in his Planet Theory (~ there are only so many 300 pound players on the planet, and when one is available you pick him) to 350 pounds.

Jerry Ball 2.0?

I’d be ok with that..

Our run defense was a 4.7 ypc sieve..

If we drafted him, I'd pay to watch training camp and watch him displace Bradbury all over the land of 10,000 lakes.

I'll preface this by saying; I really do hope I'm wrong and we win it all this year.

This is my mind set currently, going into the draft.

I see the 2022 season as a long preseason for 2023.

Imo, Our ceiling being a playoff win, followed by a loss.

If there ever was a draft to draft best player available it's this one, developmental players, players moving down the

boards due to late injuries(like Alabama's WR Jameson Williams, he and JJ would give d coordinators nightmares for the next 8 years+) pick the player that will make

the biggest impact long term.

I got move down fatigue from Spielman but I think it's what I'd do this year if if could get a good return for next year's draft. Load up as much draft capitol as possible

for 2023 to land our future stud QB. imho

I'm still waiting for the rebuild part of the "competitive rebuild".

Good post. I agree about the cieling ... that won't change until Cousins can overcome what his 10 year career has already established.

Maybe we still have some personnel tricks up our sleeve + the draft + teaching Cousins some new tricks but that is pure rose coloring, not looking forward from where we stand. Which is inches from where we stood at the start of last season (from a roster standpoint).

My main difference is expecting to get a 'stud' QB, no matter how much we wrangle to pick high next year. Its hit and miss regardless ... I'd draft one this year and one next year ...

I agree.

I hate not having that freakin' Herndon 4th rounder ... if the blue chip dude we are hoping for is not there, it would be great to get a top 20 dude plus that pick back.

Can't wait to see how these guys operate in their first draft.

If I were starting a regime ...

I'd pile up the early QB draft picks until I had a top ten QB starting, possible starter material / trade bait as a back-up, and strong developmental / trade bait as a third stringer. And then I'd drop down to doing the same multiple QB drafts every 5 years. I'd have 4 QBs on my roster at all times.

I'd have a separate staff of 15 QB coaches (maybe we already do, unsure). etc. etc.

We cannot pour enough resources into the position.

Sorry, I was diagnosed with Mannions Syndrome earlier this off-season.

Kirk Cousins inked a one-year extension this offseason to move money around, all but ensuring that he is the starter for the Vikings over the next two seasons.

The Vikings are a long shot to take a quarterback here, but the backup situation in Minnesota remains one of the league’s worst as anytime we have had to see Sean Mannion play meaningful football it has been a disaster.

The team still has Kellen Mond in his second season after selecting him in the third round last year to press Mannion as the QB2.

Nfl.com(Lance Zierlein) has drafting grades for all the prospects.

Gardner 6.72 (Day 1 starter)

McDuffie 6.7 (day 1 starter)

Stingley 6.5 (boom or bust) because of injury history

8.0 is a perfect rating.

Is Zierlein the end all, end all of evaluators? Not sure.

Watching some McDuffie highlights. He's starting to grow on me.

considering the contracts that are being doled out at wr i think that kwesi is going in that direction with the draft....

trade back a little for another 2nd day pick - wr/cb (whichever is better) - cb/wr - wr/cb - cb/wr....

our first four picks this year are two wr's and two cb's....

wr contracts are becoming qb-lite....

jefferson, although we love him, he's going to ask for the moon next season...we're going to need a couple of young players to help us evaluate our situation - do we keep jefferson, or trade him and go with who we've got, and the younger dudes we drafted in '22?.....

next year with go with qb/edge....

pff has us picking #20 in 2023 - which means we make the playoffs....

vegas has us at 8.5 over/under - over would seem like a good bet IMO....

i don't take stingley on the first day of the draft...the NFL has a 17 game season, plus playoffs, i don't trust him physically....

we can't afford to take risks this draft - let's draft solid players with no injury history....

by the time stingley plays his first NFL game he will have played in 10 games over 32 months, and none for 12 months - far removed from his stellar play as a freshman in 2019....

if I'm picking stingley, he's the 2nd cb I've picked in the draft....

I think we should be risk averse if we want to put something solid together for a 2 year shot at it. If you didn't really have a need at CB you take a chance if he falls to you. I don't think him 'falling ' to us at 12 should get us ready to jump.

Another thing to consider now that WR's are the second highest paid position at the top.

It may be more valuable to draft a WR in the first round for the 5th year option.

Presuming you mean Hughes (30th pick) and Gladney (31st pick). We released Gladney while technically trading Hughes (it was almost a swap of draft picks) for unrelated reasons.

Basically, they have nothing to do drafting another CB. Kind of like losing two coin flips after calling heads and switching to tails.
