Consider this the starting point of the ‘Donatell for Permanent DC or Until the End of the Season’ campaign. Because reading Marty spout ‘Donatell’ five times in a ten word post is mesmerizing and I want to feed that insatiable zaniness.

A few added ingredients, a little seasoning and presto! an award winning Donatell masterpiece of Defensive al dente Cooking! If he keeps his responsibilties after this week.

All we need to add for a great defense (with no cap space, just 4 draft picks, and a preference for extending the exorbitant contracts for aging veterans) is:

FA, Phillips, FA (backups FA, FA)
Hunter, Zed (backups Jones, FA)
Kendricks, FA (backups FA, FA)
Dantzler, FA (backups Petetson, Evans, long shot Booth)
FA, Smith (backups Bynum, maybe Cine)

*True, may take a few offseasons. But I think its safe to assume that Kewsi will rebound from a 2022 abysmal draft to hitting a terrific one from half-court at the buzzer in 2023, so we can pencil in one free agent with our #1 draft pick (if that doesn’t go to IOL) and replace one of the backup FAs with our #3 draft pick (if that doesn’t go to IOL) … which helps a lot …

Yes, Marty is correct, we could simply hire Fangio now for a huge Hulk-leap from #32 to at least #31 but an even higher ranking would require roster and coaching improvements that go hand in hand.

FANGIO would make a jump from 32 to 17.

Pettine would make it jump from 32 to 24.

Donatell will keep it at 32.

I think the defense will probably play well for a couple of weeks, moreso to please KOC, then go right back to sucking against the Puke.

I'm hoping that our defense gets fat on Indy today. Let's get the division locked up!

JFC.

Special teams coordinator can split a cab with the DC to the airport.

This team’s problems run WAY deeper than just the Defensive Coordinator.

This game is taking the focus off of a bad defensive coordinator.

The Vikings really should have followed the Bears approach and just blown it up. The defense has too many players that have lost a step and are relying on guile to compensate. A couple guys like that can be an asset in the middle of young players with speed. Four or five of them with a mix of ham and eggers is a defense that is too slow to shut down big plays or get off the field on third and long.

On offense they can't move on the ground or through the air. Well into the bottom third in yards per attempt, rushing and passing. The line is in the 8th year of tweaks. Ingram is clearly in over his head. In 14 games he hasn't even figured out how not to step on the QBs foot.

Too many guys with their best years behind them making big money.

Unbelievable game!!!

Such a roller coaster of emotion. I went from finding out I couldn't get the game to subscribing to Hulu and getting it set up in the nick of time before KO. Then wanting to cancel the subscription 15 mins in to the game from disgust. Then to witness the biggest comeback in NFL history. Just wow.

You know as much heart as they showed to come back is about the same lack of heart they showed to give up 36 to the sorry Colts.

Felt a little bad for Matt Ryan, being on the losing end of the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history, and now the losing end of the greatest comeback in NFL history.
