Vikings mount biggest comeback in NFL history, clinch NFC North after falling behind 33 points

A massive fourth quarter for the Vikings sent it to overtime

Kirk Cousins launched a screen pass to Dalvin Cook late in the fourth quarter who ran 64 yards for a clutch touchdown after the Vikings made a massive comeback to be within tie range.

Cousins then found TJ Hockenson for the 2-point conversion and sent his team to overtime.

That must have been the moment when I finished my game thread rant about dissapointment and 4 Super Bowls I have watched, and cried over…

The Vikings really should have followed the Bears approach and just blown it up. The defense has too many players that have lost a step and are relying on guile to compensate. A couple guys like that can be an asset in the middle of young players with speed. Four or five of them with a mix of ham and eggers is a defense that is too slow to shut down big plays or get off the field on third and long.

On offense they can't move on the ground or through the air. Well into the bottom third in yards per attempt, rushing and passing. The line is in the 8th year of tweaks. Ingram is clearly in over his head. In 14 games he hasn't even figured out how not to step on the QBs foot.

Too many guys with their best years behind them making big money.

This post didn't age well

Well it was a perfect description through two quarters and one drive today. Which seemed like an eternity.

You praise one guy or one unit and bad mouth another and they perform oppositely. As in, on one end of the spectrum and then the other .... in the same game.

There really is no way to pin this team down ... it is beyond explanation or prediction. Bastards ... so much misery and joy ...

Fantastic game.

I hear ya and don't blame Sweens one bit for ranting at that junction of the game. It was suppose to have been funny. Mallet got it.

Yeah ... I took it as such, it was well played Bill.

I was just reaffirming that, there doesn't seem to an end to the temporary ping-pong feeling that this team gives you. Long season.

This game encompassed the lowest of lows to the highest of highs for us Viking brethren.

KJ 12 rec 157 yds
JJ 10 rec 123 yds

KJ was a beast and really fueled the beginning of that come back

Cook 17 rush 95 yds + 4 rec 95 yds

First well executed screen pass all season

Cooks fumble had me cussing him out early though

Anyone hear what the ref's explanation was on the fumble recovery/td by Sullivan?

Think his mike was muted or I just flat out couldn't hear him. That was crap.

Buffalo win still game of the year.

1st half + today was so bad it had me wanting to quit.

I was flying after the Buff win. Today was more like relief getting away with something.

Cook with that 63 yard screen run. Who in Vikings history among the stalwarts could have done that?
- Percy
- AD
- Terry Allen
- Foreman (see below)

Second tier, weirdly:
- Ted Brown

Foreman could maybe razzle and dazzle to include a 360 spin or one of those mid-air fakes along the sideline, but not through that mass of defensive humanity. Then again, yeah he could!

Ah yeah! Smith could run with them all. Maybe not the juking of Cook but his speed made him look so effortless. Thanks!

The last time I said Donatell should be fired (after the Eagles game), the Vikings rattled off 7 wins in a row.

I said it before this game, let's hope it's EIGHT in a row this time.

The heat was getting on Donatell before the game, it's almost as if the team wanted to show in the first half that there is a lot more that sucks about this team than just Donatell.

And then in the 2nd half, that this team can overcome it's suckiness and play some good, complementary football.

I always loved Robert Smith. Except running out of bounds.

The Vikings’ victory today moved their record to 11-3 on the season, meaning that they can’t finish any worse than 11-6 on the season. Over in the NFC South, every team has at least seven losses, so the best any NFC South division winner can finish is 10-7. That means that, because of their win today, it’s mathematically impossible for the Vikings to drop to the #4 seed. So, they’ll occupy either the #2 spot or the #3 spot.

Just makes you wonder what this team could be if they would play a whole game.
