ORIGINAL: Ricky J If the Vikings are mediocre then there are 4 teams out of 14 that are maybe not. Mediocre means average at best. If average teams go 11-3 and are in second place in the NFC then there's lots of company below us. A very unusual team, no doubt. Who knows if they'll get it just right before it's over (other than you of course) but I'd like to think they have a chance. Brad you keep bringing up the 2 points. That'll happen when you lose 40-3. And if the last two weeks mean anything Dallas is heading in the wrong direction. And no one wants to play SF they're so good. If theyre so damn good what are they doing losing to Chicago, Denver and Atlanta as well as KC? Who have they beat? Sea, LAR, Car, LAC, AZ, NO, Mia, TB! Sounds fairly mediocre to me. Who's that leave left above mediocre other than Philly in the NFC? In the playoffs you face decent teams in the opening round and it only gets tougher from there. Where they at? I only see one team in the NFC I would call great...Philadelphia. The rest have issues. San Francisco is probably the next best team, but they have had so many injuries on offense that they could go away quickly on the right day. A quarterback that has hardly played. Top wide receiver gone. The Niners have a great defense...with McCaffrey and Kittle on offense. The defense will keep them in every game. Can the guys on offense score enough points? Dallas is an enigma. They can beat anybody. They occasionally fall asleep and look bad. To me it's all on Dak Prescott, and he's proven over time to be inconsistent. Their defense takes a lot of risks. They make plays, but occasionally get burned. Dallas has very few weapons outside of the running game. CD Lamb disappears for halves at a time. Minnesota has no defense. They have one of the worst defenses (if not the worst) in the league. When they make a stop in the red zone, Vikings fans go crazy because they made a stop. With good defenses, that's what happens all the time. The quarterback has still not proven to win in prime time. Cousins has played better this season, but he's still Cousins. He is much better when he spreads the ball around. Often times he gets way too locked in on Jefferson and the offense goes silent for a quarter. My biggest problem with the Vikings is they have Chernobyl-type halves. Way too emotional. Another meltdown is right around the corner. The Lions are a good football team right now. If they make the playoffs they are going to make it tough for someone. They are right there with Philly for how they can beat you, offensively. They can run it. They can pass it. The problem is, their defense is a mess and gives up a ton of points. They've played a little better in recent weeks, but still aren't very good. The Giants are a cheap version of the Niners. They are a mostly defensive team, but not as good as San Francisco on defense. Outside of Saquon Barkley, New York has arguably the worst playmakers in the NFC. A long ways from a complete team. The Bucs are awful on offense, and at-best mediocre on defense. Brady is finished. At this point, he's only tarnishing what has been a phenomenal career. His receivers drop a ton of passes and the coaching combination of Todd Bowles and Byron Leftwich have got to go. You make up a bad excuse for only outscoring opponents by two points for the year. If you are 11-3, you should have outscored your opponents by more than two points. Yes, they lost one lopsided game. Cincinnati is 10-4. They've outscored their opponents by 81. Kansas City is 11-3. They've outscored their opponents by 92. Buffalo is 11-3. They've outscored their opponents by 135. Dallas is 10-4. They've outscored their opponents by 125. San Francisco is 10-4. Outscored their opponents by 128. Teams that have almost the same amount of points as their opponents? Seattle (7-7), Detroit (7-7), Washington (7-6-1), Las Vegas (6-8), Jacksonville (6-8), Miami (8-6).
