I may have to watch that whole game again. My head is still spinning 2 days later. We actually won a game where:

We were down 33-0 at half
Had a punt block for a TD
Had a pick six
Failed on a 4th and 1 on our 35
Failed at a fake punt inside our own 40
Had a WR #5 completely shit the bed that led to 2 picks (one inside their 10)
Gave up a big return to start the game

What an absolute dumpster fire of a first half

I watched it again in full today. It truly is amazing how much they overcame. And how much the D stood up in the 2nd half.

I appreciated it more wo the stank if the 1st half weighing me down

One thing that worries me is, the accumulative hits that Jefferson is taking. It sure looks like teams are trying to take him out. Hits to the head.

The previous largest comeback in NFL history was the Buffalo Bills 32-point rally to defeat the Houston Oilers, 41-38, in the 1992 Wild Card round.

Entering Sunday, teams with a 30+ point lead had an 1548-1-1 record since 1930.

Don't know if you guys are into film breakdowns...

But here is a good one:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5zFrkmJ-6U

Some specific things that come out of it:
1) We may have seen why the eagles traded Reagor and he hasn't gotten more playing time... bad route 1 play and quit on another... both happened to be disastrous... focus may be an issue.

2) Some wicked route running by JJ... what else is new.

3) Cousins playing 2nd half at high level... would be nice to see him have a full game of going for the kill

4) Towards the end... Ed Ingram just blows up a safety... guy has some nasty... if his footwork ever catches up he can be good

Might be Marty's new favorite player:

According to 3 Down Nation, a website dedicated to the Canadian Football League, the Vikings hosted a workout for B.C. Lions quarterback Nathan Rourke.

Rourke, a native of Victoria, British Columbia, has been with the Lions for two seasons. He played college football at Ohio University, where he led the Bobcats to three consecutive bowl victories. He actually tried out with the New York Giants in 2021. . .as a wide receiver. But he ultimately signed with the Lions in 2021 after the 2020 CFL season was canceled due to COVID concerns.

Rourke was primarily the backup quarterback for the Lions in 2021, but took over the starting role this past season and put up some outstanding numbers. He completed 78.7% of his passes for 3,349 yards, 25 touchdowns, and ten interceptions. On top of that, he rushed for 304 yards and seven more touchdowns en route to being named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Canadian this past season.

Good story!

- Anyone else getting the vibe we're ready to beat some team (NYG?) real bad? Ok, maybe 2 by scores at least?

Yes D was good in 2nd half, and our pass blocking looked legit! Broke down a couple times, but mostly had a proper pocket. Wasn't Bradenbury(sp.) out?

Like the fact that Rourke has some mobility, but that seems like too many INTs. Going from CFL to the NFL that number is likely to go up, and could go up a lot.

Ricky, I think we're in for another nail biter.

The Vikings coming off an emotional win, like they did after beating the Packers and Bills, has not been the best.

The Donatell defense that last week was strong in the red zone, will be tested with a runner like Barkley.

The Vikings offense is rolling, they're at home, this should lead to a win, even if it's a close one.

David Blough replacement. Give him good money to compete with Mullens next year.

Only 24.

I know I've been critical of the Vikings over the years. I have to say, though, the ability to win close games is a great quality to have. It's the difference between 11-3 and 7-7.

Look at the numbers. The Vikings have outscored their opponents by two points this season. The Lions have outscored their opponents by five. My personal feeling is that the Lions are a better team than the Vikings right now, but they are still on the outside of the playoffs looking in.

My NFC Power Rankings right now:

1) Eagles (complete team)
2) Niners (one more big injury on offense and they could be dead)
3) Cowboys (Dak is hot, Dak is not)
4) Lions (one of the best offensive lines in football, defense playing better)
5) Vikings (defense is awful but they keep inventing ways to win)
6) Giants (gritty but one-dimentional)
7) Seahawks (Pete Carroll continues to get his guys to overplay)
8) Packers (too little too late)
9) Commanders (quarterback doesn't protect the ball)
10) NFC South Champ (awful teams to watch)

Too many INTs? That’s a laffer.

For some second year CFL dude (one of those trying out at a different position) / first year starter?

You’re just sweating down-the-road competition for your boy Mullens - who at one point you were were campaigning to replace Cousins THIS season.

Mullens of the 26 TD / 22 INT career.

It irks me that I somewhat agree … I desperately want some reason to oppose your opinion.

Your ranking seems based on ‘power’ as ‘the most difficult teams to play at this moment’, regardless of overall record.

I will say this … most power rankings are ‘right now’ but they also take overall record into account. If we hadnt beat the Lions earlier and/or they were 10 game winners … I could see them slipping ahead of us after our loss to them but there’s no way - no way - they should be in the conversation for top 3-4 teams in the division, which we absolutely are.

They’ve lost seven games. Not worthy.

Went to a place like that. Waiter gave me crap for pulling on his meat too hard. True story. Apparently it's the worst thing you can do BC my table was noticeably skipped on rounds.

That's why I brought it up. Coming off big wins and losing is such a buzz kill. The MN Miracle, the Bills, everybody has examples. Maybe Im trying to talk myself into a vibe. A huge win would really crank up the atmosphere another notch? "Average people" don't do what they've done is right. Bring it to another level.

So much learned behavior for us to deal with, though.

If we are really good, winning this next 3 games without getting squirrelly about it should be reasonable. The D playing a lot better on Sat does make it seem possible

And that's ok but very temporary.

Its just a subjective power ranking list, neither here nor there when the playoffs start. (when 'most' power rankings reset to just playoff teams at the top)

Unless the Lions sneak into the playoffs, nobody will care in three weeks how competitively they played in Nov-Dec.

Although, as hard as you've dogged Cousins and Goff in the past, it would be enjoyable to see them holding off your defamatory campaigns for a bit longer into/through the playoffs.

These unusual (understatement) wins show many of our team's weaknesses. For example - how do you set the record for biggest comeback? You have to get behind by a lot - against a poor team. It makes no logical sense. A good team would never give that lead back. A bad team SHOULD NEVER HAVE THAT LEAD IN THE FIRST PLACE. Kirk's accuracy is an issue as well as his complete non-awareness of the current down-and-distance, what quarter it is, what the score is, etc... The defense is terrible until they need to be excellent and then for a small portion of the game they are in fact excellent. Cook dances at the line and loses yards when there's an easy three yards for the taking and then later he breaks free for an epic TD - breaking tackles and juking defenders the whole way. Sometimes a random offensive line player will just whiff completely on the defense's best pass rusher - they guy they've been scheming for all week. Then later they'll go an entire quarter dominating in brilliant fashion. Hockenson drops an easy third-down catch in quarter one and hangs on for a near-impossible catch in quarter four. Jefferson - well Jefferson is all-world throughout every game - so we've got that going for us.

WE'RE A WEIRD TEAM.

With all this being said, I think because of all these strange happenings it's very possible that the team might have picked up a very important trait that all championship teams share: They likely feel like they can win any game regardless of what's going on. Pat Peterson wasn't joking at halftime when he said "the D would go out and stop them and the O would only need five touchdowns - THAT'S NOTHING". He believed it. So did the rest of the team. Well maybe except for Kirk who I assume was plugged into his docking station to recharge batteries and await his next command.

In all seriousness though, I believe in this team. Not because of any particular matchup but because they're currently carrying a champion's attitude. Look at that Shelly guy. He's out there on the field walking like he's ten feet tall.

Vikes are winning the Super Bowl this year. Bookmark it.

I think after 14 games its apparent that this team is only really good during certain situations.

So I'm less worried about being the #2 or #4 seed, etc. I almost think a bye week home game is detrimental.

We won't be punch drunk enough coming out of the tunnel. We obviously need big roundhouse kicks to the jaw and belly to get going.
