Hear Z is asking to be released.

We rolled out the red carpet for him and he says it was a great year. What's his problem?

Apparently we aren't willing.

As I understand it, Smith sold his house in Minnesota earlier this month with the belief he'd be playing elsewhere next season. The #Vikings, though, have no plans to release him as of now.

Duke is a UFA. He's the guy we NEED to resign:

The Vikings made Shelley the starter at left cornerback in Week 15, and over the last four regular-season games plus the wild-card round against the New York Giants, his 90.4 coverage grade ranked fourth among cornerbacks. Because of Shelley’s lack of size, his drafting team — the Chicago Bears — put him in the slot, but that was never his game in college. He’s a scrappy player who makes up for his 5-foot-9, 180-pound frame on the outside with good instincts and a knack for timing his jumps well to battle at the catch point.

The Vikings then picked him up but didn’t play him until Week 10. From that point forward, Shelley started turning heads. Shelley finished the season as Pro Football Focus’ eighth-best cornerback with 10 pass breakups and one interception.

Did Z figure out there is little chance of a playoff run with Kirk, was he unhappy in Minnesota, or is he interested in going elsewhere?

I'm guessing he doesn't want to restructure his contract.

That was always the only way he'd be back.

What's the opposite of an embarrassment of riches?

Kwesi better nail the picks we have.

SF got 7 compensatory picks, three in the third rd. (no first or second though, trading up for Lance)

Duke played really well for us. He can play in the slot or outside, and is not afraid to bang around. I bet Flores wants him for his plans with his defense.

Who thinks Harry is next on the cut list? I would like to keep Mattison, but it looks like we are going to get rid of a LOT of salaries in the next few days.

SkolBros is possibly the biggest asshole on all of twitter but he clearly is either IN the organization or someone really close to him is. He has proven extremely reliable on things that not even reporters know.

There's a lot of Cousins supporters out there. Reddit for example is chalked full of them.

Every last Vikings fan that I know is a Cousins supporter. I'm a Cousins supporter. When he drops back, feels the pressure, steps up in the pocket and delivers over the middle it's a thing of beauty. That scramble and run for a TD (can't remember the game) was gutsy and more importantly - REALLY FUN TO WATCH!

What happens beyond simply supporting Kirk is that if I point out his flaws and apparent limitations someone else will counter with another fact but a few back and forths later the argument breaks down to half-truths, speculation, cherry-picked stats, and flat out lies. This happens a million times on the internet every day. I think that's just where society is at right now. Everything must be straight black or white, no room for seeking the truth in the middle of it all.

Yep. Good comparison. I can’t wait to see him with another year of experience under his belt.

He's no Winfield. Only similarity is size. He played outside for us. Struggled in the slot for CHI and was waived. He has the size of a slot, but didn't do well there. I don't mind keeping him around for a few years at a low salary, but I'm not spending a ton on him. 3yrs 6-8 Mil is about the max I'd offer.

I would look to finding a legit slot CB though, we don't have one.

I got banned for a week on r/Minnesota Vikings for trashing cousins as a front runner after the green bay fiasco..got banned once before for suggesting that Mond had more upside if he would have been given more time..

Reddit is a Kirk Stan haven of group think..
I only read the thread to see how long it takes the mods to delete or ban someone for going against the flow..

Reddit is a deeper pool of attention whores than here.. but Twitter and ticTok still reign supreme..

Elmo is hilariously out of touch with reality..his Twitter is pure insanity and he caters to crazy..
It’s no surprise he’s a Trumpster….

His money and need for attention and control has driven him down the short peer into the sea of lunatic egomaniacal insanity..

Just like Ye, and will smith.

I know it’s not Vikes related but check out Chris Rock’s Netflix “selective outrage”..

Shelley was pretty good at run support, but his instincts, while good were not AW caliber.
I’d resign him, but as said it has to be a reasonable amount, and it depends on his fit into the new defensive scheme, which we know nothing about.

Our cap hell, has this team looking like Swiss cheese over guacamole on pumpernickel toast on both sides of the line.

I’m in the mood for a good old fashioned ax murder rebuild..

Cook, Thielen, HS, and please, Odin .. KFC can’t be gone quick enough.

We need to get a “ post cousins era QB in here and build to a future without that fuqing money grubbing half as “ leading” this team to the promised land of “ almost good” over and over..

I’m sick of this shit.

He hasn't played a full season. The comparison is fair under the circumstances, he plays like Winfield ... short and tenacious ... but yes he's got a long way to go to be considered that caliber of player (if he ever is) or deserve a big contract.

Regardless, I'm sure we're throwing our paltry measly beggarly piddling resources at him. (that's me trying to shame our people into releasing more players)

#Vikings DT Ross Blacklock, who took a roughly $683K cut and can earn it back through a playtime incentive.

per Tom Pelissero

Kwesi chewing on the fat around the edges of the salary cap. Gonna need to take a bigger bite soon.

The super great things i most remember about Winfield were more about tackling than coverage
-the time he went flat so the big ol' lead blocker didn't squish him and then get up as he goes by to make the tackle is an all-timer

Hope him as his wife don't regret it too much when they realize staying home and finishing his career here was the best move.
