Here's a snapshot of the Vikings' passing game in the final 5 regular-season games of 2022 (Targets/Receptions/TDs). Everyone could see where this was going:

Justin Jefferson: 57/40/2
T.J. Hockenson: 46/30/2
K.J. Osborn: 38/30/3
Adam Thielen: 24/14/3

One memory stands out: talking to Thielen after the 49ers loss in the playoffs. Him standing up and owning the disappointment, refusing to offer excuses. Then a teammate pulls me aside after: "That dude played with a broken back. I don't know how he's walking right now."

WR Adam Thielen's expected release will leave behind $13.55M of dead cap with the #Vikings, freeing up $6.4M of space in 2023.

Thielen earned over $65M in 9 seasons with Minnesota.

Spielman had too damn many "friends and family" type contracts.

Need to make all decisions based 100% on football.

I hope the Wilfs are fully onboard with that.

Kirk Cousins and Daunte Culpepper have both played 80 games w the Vikings

Cousins has..

18 more TDs
800 more YDs
4 more 4th quarter comebacks
36 LESS INTs
34 LESS fumbles
Better QBR
Won 8 more games (winning percentage .582 vs .475)

- and DC with about 50 more sacks https://twitter.com/LockedOnMIN/status/1634004392621010944?s=20

Adam thielen’s last 100+ receiving yards game came in October 2021.

I wouldn't give ANY qb $30-50+ mil unless that QB had won me a Super Bowl. Did you win a Super Bowl on your rookie deal? Yes? Great! Here's your hugenormous contract. F it let's just run victory laps and love life. No? Good luck. Next!

Also from Luke Inman:

Not included here is the 2500 rushing YDs and 30TDs tho. Half of what made DC so fun was his legs. Ain't getting that w Kirk.

Didn't miss the fumbles and sacks, though, did they?

That playoff game in GB is a nice DC memory for me, though. Id like to see KC pull that off a few times

DC definitely had his issues, but he gave the Vikings some solid years, and one MVP caliber year in particular.

I was luke warm on him but he did provide one of my most memorable training camp moments from when I lived in Mankato. First time I saw him, rookie year. First time full scrimmage he took off and ran with it, I gasped a little. Here was a guy playing QB with a linebacker build and a RB speed. I remember thinking wow we got something here. He made the other QBs seem like little boys.

Sad to see AT go but it was necessary unless he was going to play 1 more year as a 3/4 for 5 millionish. He and his wife think there is more in the tank than there is. Nobody wanted to trade for him, that should tell him something. Wish him well and will continue to wear the jersey, but I hope they are classy on the way out. The Vikings seem to have been.

It will be interesting to see what he gets in the open market.

Seems most players have trouble coming to grips when they begin their decline. Doubt he wins a big role on his new team. Good luck to him though. He was a pretty incredible story going from sunglass salesman to all-pro.

Nobody wanted to trade for his contract.

He will sign with someone on a bargain unless he chooses to hang up the cletes.

I think the Vikings should be more realistic about the Thank Yous they are posting

Sorry (name here), the previous regime put us in cap hell, and since you don't want to restructure or take another pay cut, here's the door.
Good luck getting a better deal.

I understand the contract was the main detraction.

His skills have declined. He's not worth top dollar anymore, but he seems to think he is. If he'll go elsewhere for a bargain, why not stay here for a bargain?

Too bad to see AT go - great player and story - but the team has to move on.

I would also like to see them move on from Harry, Cook, Hicks, Z. Harry was my fav of the group and has been a personal favorite on the team for years, but the production doesn't match the compensation any longer.

harrison smith has been my favorite viking for several years...word is; he's willing to take a pay cut - can they come to an agreement? - we shall soon see....

If Kwesi doesn't ext Shelly he needs to have his head examined.

Kwesi can't 'extend' a UFA. And he isn't the only GM who has a say in the matter.
