Thinking Ham and Wonnum will be released/waived as well. Jones can do what Wonnum does.

Paradoxically, LB/Edge could be their biggest need but they will release Za and Wonnum for cap reasons.

Just like last year not a fan of lightweight ILBs, especially Asamoah and Dye.

It sounds like Smith wants to be released. My guess is the Vikings will test the trade market for him before they give in and release him.

Agree.

I think we are just starting to see the beginnings of the annual amnesia from Vikings fans. It's been two months since the last game. The memories are starting to fade, and it's week 10 of the winter bowling league. It won't be long now and someone will have Josh Oliver scoring the winning TD in the Super Bowl. He's the new Jim Kleinenkugels.

And we are entering the period of the season where some posters, not necessarily fans, are mere caricatures of themselves.

who tell the truth.

We signed Byron Murphy. The Dolphins traded for Jalen Ramsey.

Thank you Kirk Cousins.

What does Cousins have to do with it? His cap hit has been dropped to $20M. Ramsey was acquired for a player and a 3rd round pick. Do the Vikings even have a 3rd round pick to trade at this point?

We couldn't afford Ramsey

And Cousins cap hit was just reduced by $16M, so that wasn't a factor.

It just goes to show you how tough of shape we were in. Even after $16M reduced, they still couldn't go after a high-profile guy.

Jalen Ramsey is a difference-maker. Byron Murphy is Byron Murphy.

Love waking up to posts to read. I'm sucked in, what's the picture of Prince, that Harry sent as a reply to a reporter about his contract situation mean? How low will he agree to go?

ps - I didn't give the 1 stars ... but, I wonder if anyone has ever given 2, 3, or 4 stars? Probably not

And how are you making out?

This place reads anymore like 'whose balls is Bill jumping on now'.

Have you ever come across old posts of yours and wondered - what was wrong with me that day?' Trust me you can find them easy enough. Hint: pick a day.

Bottom line...you should take a step back and realize this is about the Vikings and us, not what triggers Bill.

Yeah, the truth is that there are a whole lot of bad contracts on the Vikings. Even as the Vikings release bad contracts, like Kendricks and Thielen, they have to eat a lot of dead cap to gain a little cap relief. Years of Trader Rick overpaying mediocrity and playing kick the can have created this cap mess.

Yep, and Cousins was the worst of those deals. That's a half-decade mistake.

They have 27 million in dead cap in 2023...0.0% to do with Kirk. I thought you would jump on Shades and Dalvin T by now (13 million for Thielen and 7 for Dalvin).

Maybe Ramsey simply didn't want to play here or simply taxes are better in Florida?

The Vikes did resign Willekes....so a Wonnum and Zed release is looking more likely. I think you can play Zed at MLB in Flores scheme but someone has to go.

Murphy was #1 rated CB in single coverage last year. I'll take him for half the price of Ramsey.

Slay being released by Philly....32 years old so doesn't really fit the youth movement.

Also Ouch Philly Defense:
The #Eagles defense has now lost Darius Slay, Javon Hargrave, Kyzir White, TJ Edwards and Marcus Epps, while CJ Gardner-Johnson is still a FA.
Eagles knew this was coming. Plenty of time to figure it out, and it's probably safe to assume they have something up their sleeve.

I hope we're making Cousins a little uncomfortable. He can't just check it down, shrug, and go collect 45 million next year. Need a couple playoff wins are you're in Andy Dalton area.

With the Murphy signing, does that make DL the area of greatest need ? ILBer ?

What about the Duke ?

It means we have about nine more positions on defense that need upgrades.

The DLine is set. #1 CB is set. Poor post.

It was one of the worst defenses in the league last season. We lost the only two guys that were worth a damned last year.

Byron Murphy could be good, but he can't cover everybody.

LMAO, signing the blocking TE first with his whopping $3.75 million 2023 cap hit to help the 26th ranked running game (ypc) is a real stick in your craw.

Yep. Cap hits are minimal in 1st two years. He can be cut with hardly any dead cap before 3rd year.

But, this guy looks like a player. He was in a loaded TE room at Baltimore. This isn't some stiff blocking TE. He's athletic.

WO the picks to take flyers on pass rushers in the middle rounds it makes sense to keep him.

He was asked to catch the ball in about 2 games where both Andrews and Lively were hurt.

If we sign Shelly and hit on CB in draft, I kind of like our secondary. Some big ifs though.

That would cost a lot. Probably 1 or 2 guys adding void years.

Shelly is still hungry for a big contract. Give him a incentive laden one year deal to prove himself.

Cook and Smith restructures.

Hicks restructure hasn't been reported yet.
O'Neil,Hunter extensions.
