Slay follows a ton of Vikings on Twitter...some are thinking he may want to come here.

That would cost a lot. Probably 1 or 2 guys adding void years.

Shelly is still hungry for a big contract. Give him a incentive laden one year deal to prove himself.

Zed, Wonnum, Ham cut or traded.
Cook and Smith restructures.

Hicks restructure hasn't been reported yet.
O'Neil,Hunter extensions.

Just trade Cook.

Thinking Ham and Wonnum will be released/waived as well. Jones can do what Wonnum does.
Paradoxically, LB/Edge could be their biggest need but they will release Za and Wonnum for cap reasons.
Just like last year not a fan of lightweight ILBs, especially Asamoah and Dye.

The Vikes did resign Willekes....so a Wonnum and Zed release is looking more likely. I think you can play Zed at MLB in Flores scheme but someone has to go.

I'm a Willekes fan. He's relentless. Flores will figure out how to use him.

With the Murphy signing, does that make DL the area of greatest need ? ILBer ?

What about the Duke ?

It means we have about nine more positions on defense that need upgrades.

The DLine is set. #1 CB is set. Poor post.

It was one of the worst defenses in the league last season. We lost the only two guys that were worth a damned last year.

Byron Murphy could be good, but he can't cover everybody.

LMAO, signing the blocking TE first with his whopping $3.75 million 2023 cap hit to help the 26th ranked running game (ypc) is a real stick in your craw.

Yep. Cap hits are minimal in 1st two years. He can be cut with hardly any dead cap before 3rd year.

But, this guy looks like a player. He was in a loaded TE room at Baltimore. This isn't some stiff blocking TE. He's athletic.

He was asked to catch the ball in about 2 games where both Andrews and Lively were hurt.

And those were some pretty nice catches, too. Well, at least one was a 9.5 in difficulty

It won't be long now and someone will have Josh Oliver scoring the winning TD in the Super Bowl.

It's interesting how you like to poke people with a stick to get responses. I mean especially coming from a guy with as many wiffs as you have on your resume.

But I'd love to have a cup of coffee with you some day. I'm very interested in what makes people tic

Impressive turnout from Vikings folks at Gophers pro day. GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, head coach Kevin O'Connell and all 3 coordinators here, among others. Wasn't typical in the past regime

Cooper Kupp has hit 90 receiving yards in 21 of his last 23 games. He fell under 65 yards in his two other games.

Prior to last week, Davante Adams had hit double-digit fantasy points in 32 straight games.

The common denominator? Shadow coverage from #Cardinals CB Byron Murphy

Byron Murphy’s deal with the #Vikings:

—$7M SB
—$1.1M base this year; cap number should be around $5M
—$8.3 base in ‘24; $4.5M guaranteed for injury now, fully g’td 3rd day of ‘24
—Up to $2M incentives for Pro Bowl, All-NFL each year

Some think there has to be something brewing as it seems some of the easier announcments (Hicks, Smith restructure, ZED release/cut) haven't been done or announced yet.

Overview

Ball-hawking man corner who makes up for a lack of physical tools with outstanding instincts, toughness, and short-area quickness. Murphy's ball production per target is as good as you will find thanks to an innate ability to process the quarterback and route development simultaneously. His long speed is below average and will panic and start grabbing when he ends up in an unexpected trail position. His short-area twitch and run support toughness could make him an early target for teams looking for help at the nickel.

In a rare feat, Murphy was an All-American high school receiver (88-1,733, 21 TDs) at Saguaro High in the Phoenix area, and also a finalist for an award for the top defensive back in high school football (seven INTs).

i'm a bit surprised so many want to cut Z.

He pretty much was our pass rush the first half of the season while Hunter was still adjusting.

I keep him. You simply can't have enough good pass rushers. There are other position groups where cap savings can be milked out.

He makes a lot of money, he wants out and he's been healthy for 8 games the past 2 years.

Davenport hasn't been the model of health either. Hunter missed an entire year.

Z is scheduled to make about the same as Davenport this upcoming season.

So you want to corner the market on high injury risk players?

Did Kwesi hack your account?

3 elite pass rushers are better than 2. Not sure what alternatives we have.

Keep Hunter and get younger by signing one (Davenport), draft another, and keep 2-3 other young guys you are developing in Jones, Willekes, Vilain, and Wonnum.

Happy NFL New Year. #Vikings are salary-cap compliant. Harrison Smith apparently remains on roster but has $1.25 million of contract becoming guaranteed Friday so one presumes something must be done by then. Talks ongoing to restructure contract Currently has $19.127M cap number

Everybody looked slow and out of position under Donnashell.

I hope the Hitman restructures and retires a Viking.

This is likely going to play out as a 1-year contract for $4.9M.

They'll draft a center this year and have Bradbury as the veteran stopgap.

It wasn't only Donnatell.....they actually have lost many steps (Hicks, Kendricks). The rookie looked good in limited PT.

You need a faster Defense and they have already grabbed 2 pieces to start the process.

When people are put in bad positions, they will LOOK slow because they are way out of position.

Bad scheme but also they were slow....Kendricks was slow in the last years of Zimmer also.
