What an acquiring team would owe Dalvin Cook:

2023: $10.4M salary, $100K workout bonus, $500K LTBE playing-time incentive, $11M cap hit

2024: $11.9M salary, $100K bonus, $500K incentive, $12.5M cap hit

2025: $13.9M salary, $100K bonus, $500K incentive, $14.5M cap hit

No team is trading for this...

surprised he hasn't been cut already or a reworked contract.

They are trying to get someone to pay it; Miami may do it. No rbs make that much. Rumor is that he almost is ready to take a pay cut.

I'm pretty sure the real Ian Rapoport has more than 10 followers...

...And doesn't badly misspell his own last name...

3 years, 16 games, 4 receptions, 36 yards.

Doubt he was going to make the team.

Likely; but it sounds injury related also.

“Regarding a release of Cook on Friday or afterward, here’s the question — why would the Vikings outright release Cook when it could’ve done so at any time in the last four months? Releases can be designated with a post-June-1st designation; it happens frequently in the NFL. Perhaps Minnesota learned early on in The Cook Sweepstakes that he wasn’t a hot commodity on the trade market. He could’ve been tabbed for a post-6/1 cut, and the running back would’ve been free to sign anywhere.

If the Vikings planned to release Cook at an anytime this offseason, they could’ve done it by now. Nothing was holding them back. Trades, on the other hand, cannot be marked with a post-June-1st designation.”…vikingsterritory

So you think someone would be willing to trade a conditional future pick?

That’s about all Cook is worth, at this time.

Running back is a throw away position easily filled by a guy with leg strength and hand strength..

Hold onto the fn ball, run…

Rocket surgery it is not.

Yes, a conditional future pick. Maybe. But something milder than the Zad deal ...

I can't imagine us keeping Cook as is, after paying Mattison. I don't believe I've heard the obligatory but meaningless, 'Dalvin is our RB in 2023'.

Mattison's cap numbers are 2.4 in 2023 and 4.6 in 2024 (Over the Cap). Which is fine but with Cook's ... that's 14.1+4.6 = 18.7 for two RBs this year which is more than anybody else in the league (for two RBs ... Henry gets 16.3M). The Falcons are the only team with two of the top twenty paid RBs, and theirs add up to 9M and change.

Its possible the Vikings wanted to keep him with a big pay cut but that didn't happen.

They didn't want to outright cut him or they would have released him in the last three days or with the June 1 designation earlier.

So we are probably still fishing for a Zad type deal ... Cook reworking his deal to one year so he can be a FA next year, us absorbing some of his cap number to facilitate the move, both teams exchanging lower round picks to save face.

EDIT: Other team gets Cook, we get some cap relief and a very late rd pick, Cook gets FA at the start of the league season next year instead of June (after everybody has shot their wad).

Which would mean Cook having to approve the deal / destination.

Seems complicated for a $$$ older RB.

So, can anyone identify a better catch? Or even an equal one?

Diggs had almost an equal in the same game.

Not close. That was an 8 WR's out of 10 could have caught one.

Agreed. That was a fine catch, but one that I would be surprised to see Diggs or Jefferson not make.

I think almoat all the 1s & 2s can make the Moss catch as well.
Nice as can be but thats what these guys do. Crazy athleticism is pretty common with WRs

Sure lets go back to discussing how routine these catches are for these crazy athlestes. That’s interesting. And absurd.

I wonder what his trade value would be? I doubt we trade him, though. Flores wants some pieces on the chessboard to build his system around.

Really sucks to trade him now, no idea where in the draft the pick would be.

People in here throw the word ‘great’ around for anything … odd that a play that blows a lot of people away - outside of this forum - is called routine in here.
