Don’t see Hunter back. He wants to taste free agency and for the Vikings to extend him now they would have to over pay him so much Hunter would have no choice to sign.

That isn’t happening.

The scary thing is an offense with Hall is going to have to run Hall on qb run option. More apt to injury and no backup.

where the f*** does this come from?

oh, a black qb must be a run first qb?

just blatantly stupid comment, come on, do better

Sorry but injury or not, this team was not going anywhere anyway.

GB looked historically bad ... unbelievably bad ... and they stayed within one extra stupid play by us or one lucky play from them of making it another one score game.

The SF game was a mirage. May have been the high point of the season. We'll never know but we looked no better than a 4-4 team today even with our chosen one at QB.

I know I was hoping we turned a corner but today was just more of the same.

I hate to see Cousins get injured. I don't like him, I've wanted him gone – but not like this, absent of any serious contingency plan.

Plus ... IMO Cousins was missing some critical QB traits ... but the goofus had a really good arm and always gave 150% / always maximized what he did have ...

It's not a fair way to end your Vikings career.

At this point, I really hope we do not expend 2024 draft resources for a QB. Why do that? To salvage an ok season? And shoot yourself in the foot in the next draft?

I wouldn't trade a player either (for a QB). Only for draft assets.

We are in the end game now for the next Vikings QB ...

agree on this assessment

for all Kirk's failings, I didn't hate the guy and appreciated his toughness and effort

but this is truly the time to look to the future and not waste any resources to salvage a wildcard spot...

Sad way for Kirk to go out in Minny...I always held out that sliver of hope he could get us on a roll and pull out that SB win, a la Eli and the Giants

I'm not asking for tanking, but selling high on a UFA like Hunter might be the team's best bet for the franchise...

I hope he goes somewhere he can get a ring

Colin Kaepernick it is then.

Actually this would be extremely entertaining!

Maybe for only a week or two, but it would be a fun conversation piece

and I'd be pulling for him as hard as I did for Kirk

nick foles kicked our ass, and then went on to win the super bowl...i've never seen him play any other game, but i have this image of him being this great quarterback...why is he not signed with somebody?....

my intuition says, bring him in....

trade o'neill...if it's hunter or o'neill, then we have to keep hunter...draft a right tackle next year - see if Cleveland can make the adjustment, now...or quessenberry....

anyone notice that vederian lowe is starting in new england?....

Nothing to do with race...he is more mobile. So obviously RPO will be in the plans plus we don't have a backup QB at this moment (Mullens still out with IR/Back).

I think Foles got hurt bad either late last year or early this year but if healthy not a bad plan.

We need to upgrade the RB room next year and use the right guy.

I don't understand KOC's love for Mattison; Ackers looks so much better, not great but better.

Sometimes the best action is no action, hope so for any QB acquisition decision involving a trade.

However Kwesi understands the concept of short-term success to keep shareholders and the board happy. He might be thinking along those lines to try to bolster his record.

Bring in a street urchin for competition or just go with what we have. Maybe have Hall start a couple of games. There is no Tuesday deadline for any of that. Focus on trading Hunter.

Philip Rivers would be the only washed up vet I would find mildly entertaining. Otherwise just play Hall and see if he is anything.

This was obvious to everyone in here who follows the team.

Chris, do way better. Leave the racebaiting to the Politics thread.

That's taking washed up to a whole new level!

Mark Brunell, to see if O'Neill can earn his coin as the blind-side protector. Lefty Stabler came to mind, but he's the ultimate in washed up.

mattison wears down quickly over the game...by the 4th quarter he's got nothing left, especially in tough weather on natural turf...put in fresh-legged chandler and he runs circles around the defense....

Play Hall but sign a vet that doesn't cost you any draft picks (FA).

It's Akers... maybe all him Cam? But to your point, considering Ackers low cost he is turning out to be a better decision than Mattison and Oliver combined.

I was way off thinking the Oliver addition and Mattison plowing forward was going to bolster the running game.

What are the real options?

realistically, Hall is going to have to play on Sunday at the least. Unless they go with practice Squader Mannion. Even if we get another QB by some miracle that we can fit under the cap, they will not know the playbook by Sunday.

Two guys you could consider dragging out of retirement are Brady and Matt Ryan. Rivers is two years removed, old and more likely out of shape than Ryan or Brady.

Only experienced FA right now IIRC is Colt McCoy.

I really don't want to blow a lot of draft capital on some midling level hunk of shit like Tannehill.

Suffice it to say KAM did not do us a service by having his backup situation. Mullins, when healthy may have been ok. But we are in a shit storm.

So Trade deadline is tomorrow. You have to make a decision....do you think you can play well enough with Hall, Mannion and eventually Mullins to make a real run at things, or can you pick someone up that can do well enough? Or do you read the writing on the wall and sell.

My guess is they don't sell.

They will look at the softer schedule, the defensive improvement, and returns of Mullins and JJ in short order and still play on.

I would suggest if they are going to add, they suffer through the next couple weeks with Hall, Mannion and trade for Derek Henry. We're going to NEED the running game to be a lot better than it has been. Mullins will be back, and the coaching staff etc are apparently high on him.

But if you could figure it out how to get him under the cap...Get the GOAT for one more shot at glory.

To me the only guy that could lead the team anywhere is Tom Brady.

May as well let Hall play out the season, he is going into an ideal situation where an OL is playing well, you have Addison and then JJ coming back soon, along with a defense that is playing well.

See what Hall has.

Vikes point totals in our eight games so far in order: 17,28,24,21,20,19,22,24. That's an average of 21.9 per game. But don't forget two of our TDs were defensive scores. Through eight games our offense scores 20.4 points per game. You're telling me we can't find anyone that can replace that? It doesn't seem like an insurmountable amount of points to me.

I'm going on record: Kirk stans are about to find out just how easily replaceable he was/is.

The amazing part of all this was that Jaren Hall was the back-up plan. That, in itself, should get someone in the front office fired.
