I was one who approved of giving Dobbs another start. I still say it was the right thing to try. It didn’t work. I now have no problem saying Mullens is the correct choice the rest of the way. Mullens didn’t do anything spectacular but there was a marked difference in the look and feel of the passing game. Dobbs was never in sync with the receivers and couldn’t deliver to the right receiver at the right time in the right position. So I’ll take the relative stability of Mullens. Especially with the way the defense is playing. And by the way, for those bemoaning this last game, I will just say, are the Vikings serious contenders? Probably not. But they are more of a contender this year than last. If they had won 34-31 instead of 3-0 would you feel any better? A whole lot of fans would. Why? Just because a game is more spine tingling doesn’t make it a better quality win. The defense hasn’t given up a TD in two games now. I don’t care who it’s against, that means you’re playing some pretty good football at least on that side of the ball. Knowing nobody is going to run up the score on you is better than hoping for yet another miracle comeback. Going with the comfortable loafer QB and playing complimentary football is the best hope to at least maybe get a playoff win. I hate to revert to Zimmer ball but it’s the only viable option right now.
