Wow. Throughout the years YPA has been a valuable metric because it cuts through a lot of BS. Over a decent sample size the Merry Band of Misfits are right there with Stat-Boy at about a tenth of the cost/cap.

The defense has been a bit of a roller coaster this year.

I stated early on in the season, that I thought our personnel was bottom tier. In particular the front 7.

Many of the advanced analytics supported this. But I thought Flores, pure scheme would hide a lot of flaws particularly early on. But as teams adjusted and had more film, eventually the lack of talent would catch up.

But I think the opposite happened for a bit, as Flores players better understood the scheme, the defense became stronger slightly past mid season. Perhaps playing some bad offenses helped.

It seems in recent weeks, the defense has finally seen that regression to better match their talent. Injuries haven't helped, but almost all teams battle injuries this time of year. Pace hit the wall hard his last couple games, and he's a prime guy to run right at.

I've always thought Flores has to blitz so much this year because he doesn't have 4 guys who can get after the QB on their own consistently, except Hunter.
In a way it's good, as I could have been fooled into thinking this defense was most set going into next year.

But I'm pretty confident in that now we need some upgrades in the front 7 and better depth going into next year.

The good news is there are not a ton of needs on O.....oh, except a QB, ugrade at C, and an explosive RB (maybe Chandler), and who knows what will happen to Hockensen with this injury.
I'd still like to see a burner as the 3rd WR to really open up some stuff for doubling and trippling Jefferson.

That is exactly what occurred with the D. Growing pains - D hits their stride - DCs then have an accurate picture on what's going on - DCs expose the D as smoke and mirrors can't mask the lack of talent.

And it's a good summation of where the D stands, but I submit the upgrades extend to all 3 levels on D.

All three levels and then some!

Plus, let me just call it now ... our first moves of the offseason are going to be resigning Akers and Mundt! (if they aren't extended before the Packers game!)

With the Hockensen timeline in doubt, the next sandbag in our competitive dike rebuild is resigning Muse.

With those tasty nuggets bundled and out of the way ...

then Kwesi can tackle the big offseason question (not literal tackling obviously, he'd snap off at the bare ankles): Cousins -or- A Defense.

Can't wait to see.

You won't see either of those big questions answered.

KAM will sign the bundle of cheap nuggets then Brzez will drop off the memo deducting (as of now) $50+ million dead cap from what's available.

The theme of the offseason will be 'Let's Collaboratively Feel the Sting' as the final band-aids are ripped off.

I would take it

and like it (the ripping band-aid)

if Kwesi would just stay in our draft slot and pick a first rd worthy QB prospect. If there is one at our slot.

I know ... unicorns and moonbeams.

Let Kwesi cook!

He’ll take a pinch of trade down bc there’s a group of QB’s rated similarly.
Add a dash of resigning Cousins.
Take the new QB and let him simmer 2.5 years stirring occasionally.

It’s the right move but too late. After Mullens flailed about for 2 games throwing away our season.

Here comes 2 wins by the rookie and we’ll fall just short.

No playoffs and the main reason is a weak HC.

Not likely

when you have someone who can make off balance throws like this:

Reminds me of Romo fumbling twice in one play in a playoff game.

It's because it was talked about on The Herd yesterday. I don't see it as an option.

Literally illegitimate talk. All these sports sites, which are essentially just blogs, are always searching for content. Well known QB benched? Gold mine! That's good for filling a day's requirement now and more later.

The Vikings, along with 10 other teams, will soon be "linked" to Wilson. With a 3rd cousin living in Minny, it will be said he has "ties" to Minneapolis. An unnamed source will have seen him at Manny's.

My guess is the real players in the regime don't have the time or inclination to see such stuff. Such background noise never enters their sphere.

If it happens, it'll have to be over a month after the draft.

Trading Wilson before the draft would incur a $68M dead cap hit. Cutting him would be an $85M dead cap hit.

If they trade him after June 1st, they can spread the hit between 2024 and 2025.

Most likely they draft a QB, let him battle it out with RW next year and then just let Wilson walk after the 2024 season.

Paul Allen was talking about it today. Ben Leber said he would quit his sideline reporter job for the Vikes/KFAN if Russell Wilson comes to the Vikings.

Kirk Stan’s can’t imagine a world without KFC bumbling through his plat alls and needing perfect windows to throw into..

The big argument is he only had 5 ints, in 8 games.. never mind the fact he lead the team to a 4-4 record..

In KFC stan world, he never would lose another game after beating the mighty 69’ers..

“We ShOuLd Be 11-4, If OnLy…”

Russell Wilson: 3070 yards, 26 TDs, 8 INTs 7-8 - WASHED!!!

Cousins: 2331 yards, 18 TDs, 5 INTS 4-4 - WOULD HAVE WALKED INTO THE SUPERBOWL AFTER dESTROYING EVERYONE!!!! AARGG!!!!

And please no replies stating I'm in love with Russell Wilson. Eff that guy. Once again, I'm not saying Wilson is awesome - I'm saying Cousins is over romanticized.
