We need to start thinking 2-3 years down the line and stop with this bullshit that we are 1 piece away.
This has been the problem with this franchise for at least the last 5 years. They need to look at the long picture get cap healthy and build through the draft. Just stop with the one year band aid deals kicking money down the road.

It isn't the main reason---if you can't draft talent you have to trade for it or overpay for it......start spending more resources to get the draft correct.

So as he cleaned out his locker Monday following the end of the team's season, and with the likelihood that he could be the best quarterback available on the 2024 free agent market, Cousins was asked a question: Would he embrace a hometown discount if that's ultimately what the Vikings seek?

"That's a great question and one I've thought about pretty much my whole 12 years," Cousins said. "I do think it's important to be aware of. I think that God has blessed me financially beyond my wildest dreams. So at this stage in my career, the dollars are really not what it's about."

Still looking for a straight answer to a simple question. Anytime he interjects God into a remark about his upcoming contract, watch out.

Ultimately, Cousins said, "structure is probably more important." Asked his definition of "structure," he said: "Everything that isn't the dollars. That stuff you also work through."
Sure... no-trade clauses, 100% guaranteed money, etc. Dudes a pro at that stuff.

Speaking of BS word salad:
In an interview shortly after, general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah was asked if he wanted Cousins back in 2024. "I mean, Kirk played great," Adofo-Mensah said at the time. "I think my want for Kirk to come back isn't just a 'me' thing. You know, it's a negotiation. You come together at the table, and you try and see if everything works together, and we'll have that dialogue when the time comes."
I mean, it's not me man... it's him! Let's dialogue!

As he has approached the upcoming expiration of his contract...
So as he cleaned out his locker...

Beautiful beginning to the article though!

And we've got people around here thinking he's stupid bc he used the recorder on his phone to learn plays. You said it yourself, O'Connell's quoting War and Peace into that microphone

Yet Cousins couldn't adjust his actions in the last 15 seconds to avoid who knows how many delay of game penalties the last two years. He's a robot, that's why he will never win a SB. But he once won a playoff game!

So far I'm disappointed by the qb play in this game. McCarthy is probably faster than I thought but not too many good passes up to this point.

I'll still take him.

IMO it’s more about yes, talent.. but also…

COACH.

Look at the teams that have multiple wins..

Common to all.?

A QB with moxie and an arm and a coach who knew what the F he was doing..

Noll, Madden, Landry, Johnson, Walsh, …

The Coach needs to be either damn lucky, or elite.

And it helps if management isn’t some snake oil troop…

Feeding fans Happy pills..

I envision Kirk sitting at home, sponging his head like Brando, mumbling about The Egyptians ... The Hollow Men ... One year 30M fully guaranteed vs, Two Years 35M with 45M guaranteed ...

Only watched the game off & on due to unexpected company. It looked to me like Penix often had a somewhat sidearm delivery on many passes sorta Mahomesish IMO. Curious if anyone else noticed.

Too bad that game was the big game.

Speaking of Jordan and big games, it's not wrong to want this over being a bust in the game: https://youtu.be/bu0aTFCE1Zc?feature=shared

I think the Bowl games can be an indicator how they're likely to perform in playoff games.

Correct me if I am wrong on this, but I believe every NFL QB that went on to win multiple Super Bowls, all won their last Bowl game in college.

If it's not 100%, I think even 80% would be significant.

If you can put together a package that the Bears accept for the #1 pick (maybe it includes JJ), do you take Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, or another QB ?

There was that scene where Penix was limping in the tunnel after the game. Kinda gets next to the head coach. Said head coach barely acknowledges him and heads up the tunnel on his own. Heartless bastard.

+1
I will gladly take Penix...he reminds me of Tua with a stronger arm.
I also was impressed by McCarthy enough to say we don't have to trade up.

What do you do about Williams, Daniels and Maye who all skipped their Bowl Games?
