The counter to that is that:

Clearly he was misused last year with a guy that had no clue what he was calling. He still had 10.5 sacks. What can we get out of him with Flores? It's very tempting but I get the caution based on his injury history. I'd give him a 3 year deal at market value but I think he's pivotal to what Flores is expecting. Nothing but personal hunch there.

Maybe they will wait until mid-season to try to better gauge what he's worth.

Possible for sure but I don't think he has the personality to wait for that. To me, he seems like a "hold out or get paid" guy.

the truth is, we control hunter...he can hold out until midway through this season, but we can still franchise him in 2024 at about $20mm...if we give him a new deal at $20mm/yr for '23, '24, and '25 - guarantying $40mm it'll be our option to pick it up in '25 - and we can trade him next offseason if we decide to blow up a season for a high draft qb in '25....

we have to retain the trade value of hunter, hockenson, and Jefferson for possible draft ammo in '25....

one of the reasons i've been promoting acquiring a guard is because Cleveland as a tackle might have some trade value - possibly mid-season before the trade deadline...or, we trade o'neill and keep cleveland....

So per your prior post, you'd pay $20 million per - or at least $40 million guaranteed - for someone who has next to nothing in the tank.

I meant 2-3 years at his present level of play...i would be content with signing hunter to that deal....

missing training camp is fined at $50k/day - teams may not forgive this fine....

Good point. That's a lot of money for most people Id assume. Doesnt seem that long ago players would hold out up until a certain point where itd have an impact on the rest of the season

some are looking at this suspiciously because there was talk a while back about Jacksonville being a possible landing spot for hunter if traded...nobody has mentioned, or possibly knows, when hunter started following the jaguars....

SKOR North@SKORNorth
INTERESTING: Danielle Hunter is following just two teams on Instagram: The Minnesota #Vikings and the Jacksonville Jaguars... 🤔🤔 #SKOL #DUUUVAL

Kwesi likes to drag his feet. Chi just ext TE Cole Kmet for 50ml 4 yrs so Hock's ext probably got more expensive. If the plan is to ext Jefferson he should do it sooner rather than later.

From what i've read these fines for holding out are mandatory fines per the NFL and teams don't have the option to waive them.

True. kwesi has painted himself into a corner qb wise. If he can't land a starter in next years draft Cousins will have him bent over a barrel.

i think kwesi is working a trade for hunter...not committing to the ones below, but I think he wants a 2nd and hasn't got a deal yet....

Thomas Gorski@ThomasGorski33
Potential trade nobody is talking about that could happen:

Vikings:
QB Trey Lance
2024 2nd

49ers:
DE Danielle Hunter
2024 5th

Tom Pelissero@TomPelissero
The #49ers placed star edge Nick Bosa on the reserve/did not report list. The team doesn't expect him to practice without a new contract.

Carlos Sánchez@HaeruHariken
The Jaguars are the only NFL team 3-time Pro Bowl DE Danielle Hunter follows on IG, could that be a sign he wouldn't mind getting traded to Jacksonville? Via
@BLACKandTEAL& @HaeruHariken

Thomas G. - Nobody’s talking about it because its so very unlikely.

The Cousins for Lance swappers have moved on to Hunter.

I bust Kwesi’s chops all the time but he was spread-eagled over a barrel when he was hired. That he agreed to the situatiion coming in has not changed the difficulty of moving on from a very solid incumbent that may or may not have reached his cieling, depending on your point of view.

Salary cap issues, ho-hum qb draft prospects in 2022-2023 (at our draft position), little resources to move up (some of that due to KOCs fixation on TEs), and KCs no trade / guaranteed status making a non-draft solution moot … have murkied the path forward.

At least next offseason we can start competing with the other 15-18 teams willing to go all in on a long-term franchise qb option.

We are only moments away from some UDFA traning camp phenomena fulfilling the desperation for greener grass trade activity.

RE News deprived. The NFL would like to make it a 365 day operation. Heck, they are trying to drum up two days of hoopla with the simple schedule release. An 18 week regular season. A 3-day draft. Still, yes this time of the year real news is scarce... for a reason.

Yes to Addison delivering food!

Members of the team described the conversations during these 30 minutes as "absolutely riveting"
