I've taken some additional looks at Nix and the criticism that he doesn't progress well in his reads is looking accurate. I have to take him down a bit in my rankings. He will need to improve on this to get to the level I'm hoping he will.

One article I saw referencing KOC on the Pat Mcafee Show says his answer about Accuracy being the #1 trait they are looking for and he fumbled over Penix and his accuracy...

so apparently that means he is not on the draft board for us...

"After doing his homework, Kevin O’Connell does not see Michael Penix Jr as a QB who is accurate enough to become a franchise guy in the NFL. If the Vikings are targeting a later 1st round quarterback, it’ll likely be Bo Nix (who they have been tied to a couple times recently)"

If accuracy is #1, then Daniels must be their top target, right?

Nix is more accurate than Daniels, but Daniels incredible running ability and deep balls put him above Nix.

I would be tempted to move up to #8 with Atlanta, and then take the big WR Odunze, or Edge Dallas Turner.

It would be best to pair either JJ or Addison with a big WR.

I think Penix will be there at #23, and I would gamble on him

Read an article that made sense pointing out Penix isn’t Kevin’s cup of tea.

I think I’d prefer another team gamble on him.

We might be trading up for the 4th QB. I think I’m ok with that. They will probably say they were lucky and got their guy anyway. Which may be true but for all I know if we come out of this draft with Daniels, McCarthy, or Maye I’ll be happy. Regardless of where the team has them officially ranked.

JJ McCarthy will be spending “the next few days” with Kevin O’Connell and other #Vikings representatives, KOC mentioned on @KFAN1003. “Looking forward to spending some time with him over the next few days.”

A few days? That’s a little unusual isn’t it?

I think IF any of the teams 2 - 4 are willing to trade down we’ll be the preferred partner. No they won’t really want to move to 11 but each of them know we have the capital and are eager to spend it. They see not only scoring but scoring max picks.

Ultimately I think the 1st 3 teams stand pat and take a QB. If 4 is available I think we have to be careful. Arizona said they’re open for business until they’re on the clock. I think a deal before the draft needs to happen. If it’s the highest we can get so be it.

I think it’s going to take 4 FRP’s to get to 2. 3 FRP’s to get to 3 OR 4.

I think Arizona would do it now.

What I want to see is the Vikings identify their guy and then go up and get him. When they decide...well one of these guys from the next tier should fall to one of our picks and we can take a flyer on him...almost never works.

It sounds like the Vikings are all in on McCarthy and Maye. Good. Go up to #4 or 5 and get one of them.

I'll reiterate that I'm not OK with moving up. Nobody worth the cost. Stick at 11 and take McCarthy, Maye or Nix.

If it's 3 FRPs to get to pick 4 laugh in their face and walk away. 2 FRPs is a great haul for trading pick 4.

Waiting feels like protecting a 1 point lead and hoping. Like in game…I want to see them attack.

Does he mean he will spend the next few days with us or sometime in the next few days he will spend some time with us. I'm guessing the latter.

Anyone trading with Kwesi is going to make him play value +.

It’s probably a secret gsme amongst teams at the top. How much can they squeeze out of Kwesi.

If we trade up to 4 to take McCarthy using no more than 11 and 23 I won't be jumping off the edge of the nearby grand canyon. If it's Maye the fall won't kill me and it will be fun. The sudden stop at the end is the problem.

Yep. I can see Kwesi paying 3 to 4 FRPs for a player he could have stood pat at 11 and taken. Maye is that player I have in mind.

Depends on who’s the pitcher and who’s the catcher…

If we don't trade up it seems the difference in players available at pick 11 and 23 isn't very different. I see mocks with Byron Murphy available at 23 all the time and he is rumored to be our #1 non QB priority. It will suck if we go BPA at 11 and at 23 all of the expected top 6 QBs are gone.

McCarthy will pick whatever position he prefers.

Agreed. Go get your guy. It's hard enough to hit on a QB when you go for one of the top guys. Sifting through the left overs almost never works.

Kwesi or not, the fundamental issue is that teams with the pick know they can squeeze anybody who is trying to move up for a QB. And yes, it appears nobody is more adept at over paying than Kwesi.
