If 3 and 4 are looking to make deals then he who settles for less than full pop plus gets our picks.

If we must trade up pick 4 should cost something like our 11 and 23 for their 4 and 90. I think we want to make sure McCarthy is there before we trade up.

I have readily admitted my bias, as I have watched 100% of JJ's snaps at UMich - almost all of them in person.

Yes, they were a run-heavy offense. But those stats are misleading. He has all of the tools and has displayed them, especially when needed. Go look at the Rose Bowl tape, as an example. Shit, look at his stats from the MSU game last fall - LMAO!.

He has good pocket presence, scrambles well, goes through progressions maybe better than anyone in the draft, makes reads and adjustments at the LOS - just doesn't run the one play on the card the coach is holding up, has a big arm, leadership qualities are off the charts, smart, composed. When needed, the dude made the plays.

I would take Williams #1, too. I think McCarthy is the 2nd best. With that said, if we get Maye, I think that's OK, too. I wouldn't take Nix in Rd.1 and Penix only late in Rd. 1.

Thanks for that take, Lars

Makes me feel a little better about JJ...

and I think we will get him at 4 or 5...

I think he is a little more mobile Kirk, though, which would probably be a good thing

would rather have Maye or Daniels

I like Penix more than most

Nix doesn't do it for me based mostly on the offense he ran (to perfection, no doubt)

Pat Kirwin today was saying today that anything being said by any team to the media should not be believed

Something like, "As a GM at this time of year the only thing I tell anyone, especially the media, is lies."

So what has been said by KOC and Kwesi?

1. We love JJ
2. We are willing to trade everything to move up
3. Penix isn't accurate enough
4. Maybe we take 2 defensive players at 11 and 23
5...

help me fill in the lies

PS - I would not trade up to #2 to take JJ - too tall cotton.

PPS- I also would not take Nix at 11. I think you could get him at 23, easily.

PPPS - they need to identify their guy and get him. Don't try to get too cute and out-thinking all of the GMs, Kwesi. Go get our QBOTF!

Hey Lars, what do you think of Daniels? Would you be happy with him?

Apparently, there was a "scheduling conflict" and the Vikes were unable to meet with Daniels after his Pro Day

So is that purposefully saying we aren't as interested in him as, say, JJ McCarthy? They probably got a look at his elbow

So more smoke?

Daniels is the guy we really want!

It’s fun as hell.

You have to consider fake smoke screens and double reverse smoke screens.

Michael Penix much more athletic than expected at Pro Day. 4.5 40 and 36.5 inch Vert. I don't get why with that athleticism he is considered very immobile as a QB.

Probably can't avoid the pass rush.

I think the Vikings will wind up at #5.

#1 forget it
#2 forget it
#3 Several mocks have the Patriots trading out of #3 for 11, 23 and next year's #1, but I'm not buying it. They traded Mac Jones and are arguably more desperate for a QB than the Vikings.
#4 I think Arizona wants to stay at #4 to get MHJ and give Kyler Murray a big weapon.
#5 Something tells me Harbaugh won't draft a WR even if he stays at #5. My gut says that Harbaugh would rather have the extra pick in the first round. I don't think the move will require next year's #1.

The question is which QB will be available. The only thing that is a lock is the Bears taking Williams at #1. The most heavily connected name to #2 is Daniels, but there are a number of mocks that have them going for Maye and even a couple saying McCarthy. The Patriots supposedly had a great meeting with McCarthy.

At this point I would say it's about 50% Maye, 45% McCarthy and 5% Daniels. I'm OK with any of those 3.

If I were drafting a QB based on nothing other than appearance Drake Maye would be "my guy" and it wouldn't be close.

The Vikings trade up that makes perfect sense is a 3 way going like this. The Vikings get pick 4, The Cards get pick 5 and some spare change from the Chargers, the Chargers get 11 and 23. This eliminates two uncertainties that would block a deal. The Cards can trade with us knowing they will still get MHJ and we don't have to worry about somebody jumping us for the 4th QB.

The draft is a hair shy of a month away and I hope when I wake up on the Friday morning after the Vikings has a great quarterback for the future. A whole month of conjecturing is going to wear me out.

I'm still having a little fun with it and I'm learning about the prospects. However, pretty soon I will be totally burnt out.

Darnold is also actually more mobile than Kirk. No matter which QB they draft the QB room will be better than 2023....

Maybe you should watch what he did as a Freshman for Indiana...he was remarkable and very mobile. He probably is still very mobile just more cautious.

Before the smokescreens and over-analyzation

Williams Daniels Maye … top three picks of draft

McCarthy Nix Penix … outside the top ten picks

Any one of these guys is our best prospect since Daunte and, therefore, this century. That’s both exciting and pathetic.

I can see people already pushing Darnold into the ‘misused but potential starter’ range … ‘he was on bad teams’ etc which are apples from the same Cousins Excuse tree. Darnold is a journeyman and the seventh option on our list of QB hopefulls and only if we screw up the draft and whiff on beginning a legitimate QB plan of action.
