Here's how I would rate the quarterbacks:

1) Williams
2) Daniels
3) Nix
4) May
5) Penix
6) Rattler
7) McCarthy

I'm going to let the draft happen and see what happens. I see no point in playing armchair GM for weeks on end on Talk Vikes. IMO, any one of the six quarterbacks I have rated in front of McCarthy would have won a national title with that Michigan team. He is Jim Harbaugh II.

Which one was in the Big Ten last year again?

I’m losing my appetite for trading up. If all 6 are gone by 11 so be it. Half probably won’t be franchise guys anyway. Also, I’ve warmed up to Nix.

Yeah I am hovering around ‘whatever’ at this point. Outside of Williams / Daniels who are unattainable, I’m a little less impressed with the other prospects as we go along and I’m worn out by the silly draft industry.

I get the feeling at this point if any of these guys turn into franchise QBs it will be a stroke of luck more than skilled drafting … there’s not that much separating them.

Wait a couple years, see which ones turned out to actually be worth a shit.

I don't think Maye or Rattler would have.

I think there is a big drop off from the top 4 to Nix and Penix...if we don't get grab OL or DT at 11.

I would include Penix in the top 4 if not for his injury history. He has the most arm talent out of all of them. Of course, you can't really just overlook the history. I'm not saying that.

I love Daniels game but also would have sever anxiety if we somehow get him. Dude makes incredible plays but gets absolutely blown up regularly. His highlights are Mike Tyson blows to the chin. His lowlights are that chin.

His frame and playing style scream RGIII. One MVP-ish season followed by a regular gig on NFL Live at the age of 26

Right. I haven't even bothered looking at Daniels or Williams ... I saw glimpses of them this past season, thought they were top level and just assumed they were out of reach.

Any scrutiny of any college player is going to reveal college player issues.

It makes moving up / shooting our wad on an unfinished product, whoever that is, so risky.

Maye without OL or skill players, underused McCarthy in a QB unfriendly system, Nix in a too QB friendly system, Penix' injury history ... and that's just trying to asses what they are right now ... then you have to guess how hey'll develop in the nfl in general and translate what they are into a different system specifically.

If the regime doesn't think any QB is worth two, three, or more first round picks that's fine. It's not like John Elway and Peyton Manning are in the draft. A big concern is Kwesi's ego and the perspective that he didn't get a QB. He'll likely try to show he's the smartest GM going, and no matter what happens will blab that there was absolute consensus with the pick. If there is another dose of absolute consensus, then a bunch of scouts need to be fired. Kwesi too, for establishing a groupthink culture.

Which of those QBs took the flaws with their team and when the chips were down decided to strap the team on their back?

None.

If the regime doesn't think they have it, walk away with the top DT and CB.

And for waiting until his third year to start throwing chances against the wall to see what sticks.

Sorry, its a brutal business. Extremely difficult, takes a lot of luck and good bounces. Too bad.

I wonder if Sweat's alleged DWI arrest makes him available in the 3rd now (or a trade up back in to the 2nd)?

Another thing they better take in to account is this. No matter what QB they go with for this year the dude better have great mobility because it sure looks like they are rolling with an IOL of Brandel, Bradbury and Ingram

And, God forbid, one (or more) gets hurt

If they trade up and take a swing all the more power to them but if all the teams in the trade up zone are expecting a giant bag I say leave their hands empty.

Kind of thinking that piece about us selling the whole farm on an attempt to land Richardson did us no favors.

Hope Kwesi is guarded against being taken.

Couple of things about the 2 ‘untouchables’.

I hope Willams and Chicago are oil and water.

If anyone slides I hope it’s Daniels. Not so we can get him so he has a 2nd thought about being so stuck up on visits. Some of his behaviours screen entitlement.

Purple Daily has talked about this a couple of times. It's not that he's avoiding us. It just hasn't worked. They have talked to his people and say he would absolutely LOVE to be a MN Viking. For what it's worth.

Thanks for that.

I thought he/his camp was like - if you can’t get up to 2 we can’t be bothered.

I've been following the "MOCKS" and Sweat was never considered a first round pick. Mid 2nd early 3rd was where he was most often found. Him declining to weigh in at the combine is a BIG Red Flag. I see him being available with pick 108.

Well there it is then. We are virtually guaranteed to take Penix now.

QBOTF probably not but he may be fine for 4-5 years.
