Best pick of the first round could end up being Nix in Denver. The Payton/Nix combo seems like a perfect fit. Looks a lot like Drew Brees on paper and film.

I love that pick too.

Hoping it gets Payton fired.

Couple things from Kevin Seifert:

First thing the Vikes told Turner to be ready for: Rush the passer as soon as he gets off of the plane.

JJ is a big hockey fan and played hockey apparently received a phone call from Gretsky after he was picked.

Nix is currently the front runner for Rookie of the Year. He may start by game 1 and no later than game 3. It all depends on how long it takes for McCarthy to start in Minnesota.

Latu seemed more like a consolation prize if you needed an edge rusher desperately. Him going before Turner with that looming neck injury was very shocking. Indy has Atl to thank or they would be receiving some heavy scrutiny as well.

Latu was the best pass rusher and defender in this draft and it wasn't close, but....
The neck condition is scary as hell.

Front runner according to who?

Caleb (Moore, Kmet, Allen, Odunze and a good oline) and Daniels (McLaurin, Ekler, Ertz, Dotson) are setup better. Denver doesn't have the WRs or Line....similar to Maye at NE.

Oregon had better WR than Denver has now and Denver has a big cap charge.

Fan Duel has Nix at +3000 to win it.

Which puts him at a distant 10th.

JJ is tied with Daniels for 3rd at +1000

Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, TJ Hockenson and Aaron Jones.

He better succeed immediately with that talent, because the tools are all there. If not, I will be here every week to remind you.

Like I said earlier, If McCarthy has a bad game, Brad will be here speaking about just how smart he is...and when McCarthy has a bad game it will be crickets.

You need to fix the second half of your post.

What do you mean? All qbs have bad games.

I'm 99.99999% sure he meant to say when McCarthy had a good game it would be crickets from Brad. Read his comment again.

He has lots of Brees similarities while being bigger, stronger and more athletic. Nix will maybe even start from game 1. He is the front runner for Rookie of the Year.

You do know supporting cast matters? Nix isn't going in with that neither is Maye. Then you add on just being a rookie.

According to who? DL posted what the bookmakers think. If Nix went to MN, Wash, or Chi yes. Even if you think Payton is a QB guru it is an s show.

Yeah Caleb is the front runner. We haven't discussed him at all and I was forgetting about him. Harrison and Jayden Daniels are in the conversation for sure. It will come down to whether McCarthy starts early in the season or not. If he does I'll make him co front runner with Caleb.

Believe it or not I was forgetting about Caleb. He's the front runner. I believe Denver is a much better supporting cast than Washington, and McCarthy might not start until midseason.

Don't care about McCarthy actually being a front runner for the award....long term sitting at least the first 3-4 would help him the most.

I think McCarthy is pretty ready actually, but the Vikings will have to play Darnold for a while to justify signing him.

1/10 and they were upfront with Darnold....they didn't guarantee him money or a starting job actually.

They guaranteed him 9 million for this year. We are talking about this year. Why are you arguing this with me?

Not arguing at all. They don't have to justify playing Darnold. The Vikes now have 2 legit options. There were zero starting guarantees given to Darnold other than he would be given a chance at the starting job and he knew we were drafting a qb.

He was given 10 because that is what a borderline starter/top backup gets. Dobbs and Mullens got 1.5 -2 million for a reason.

Who says he's the front runner Rookie of the Year? He's the weakest armed QB in the draft, who is in for a rude awakening when he can't throw 67% screens and bubble screens.

Sweens Caleb is the front runner for RotY. Nix is a contender. Front runner was wrong.

Instead of acknowledging I was right about Nix and you were wrong you double down on how Nix Sucks. Maybe he does, but you called him a 2nd rounder and I said he would be drafted at 12. Why haven't you given me props on getting it exactly right? I would have been all about I was wrong and you were right if Nix had fallen to round 2.

10 or more posts ago I already said Caleb is the Front Runner. I was a little overeager and forgetting about Caleb. I believe Nix to have the 2nd best shot at it. Harrison and Daniels are certainly in the discussion. If McCarthy gets the starting job soon he will jump to the top IMO.
