ORIGINAL: marty The resumes are just a little different when you consider Sam has never won a playoff game, and lost a big game that would have given the Vikings home field and a bye, while Mahomes has gotten a few byes, won some playoff games to get to 5 Super Bowls in 6 years, and won 3 of them. I thought I saw a stat on ESPN that said that Mahome's teams have been behind by 10 or more points in each of his 5 Super Bowl appearances. I never compared the abilities of Darnold to Mahomes. That was manufactured by other people in here that can't argue with the point I am making. The point is, Darnold won 14 games with one of the worst offensive lines in football, getting sacked 48 times in the process. It should have been no surprise that he was eventually going to hook up with defenses that were going to figure out how to defend him. Moving on from a guy that just won 14 games is a bit puzzling to me, especially when you have no idea what is behind him. JJ McCarthy played in a run-first offense in college, with an offensive line that rag-dolled most of its opponents. He's rarely closed out a half in a game where they needed him to produce under pressure. If they don't fix the stuff up front, I'd be stunned if they won more than nine games next season Yet you couldn't wait to move on from Cousins after he won 13 games with the same shitty line and one of the 3 worst defesnses in football. The Lions destroyed Sam with a thoroughly depleted defense. Cousins was an old man at the time. No chance I was giving that guy a big contract. And he wasn't a leader, which we saw during COVID. Cousins has always been about Cousins. He's not a guy I would call upon to be my team leader during crunch time. Not sure what that has to do with the off-season of 2025. Would you prefer we go back and get Cousins? Again, deflections are not arguments. Tell me what JJ McCarthy has to offer, outside of hope. He currently has more knee injuries than completions in the NFL. I agree we don't know what McCarthy is going to bring. Heck I think I was the first one pointing out his 170 passing yards a game or whatever. They picked him high in the draft though. It's time to find out what he brings. I loved what Darnold did but it has the feel of Case Keenum to me. He's obviously got more natural talent than Keenum but this past season will most likely go down as his best. By far.
