Did you know? The Vikings were scheduled to be an AFL team & even participated in the 1960 AFL Draft, B4 playing one game, the Minneapolis ownership group bolted the upstart AFL after the NFL rushed to award them a rival expansion franchise. That AFL team became the Raiders.

So we lost our 4th Super Bowl to what would have been our team.

Thanks Phil for moving on!

I don’t think our defense is going to be insane or anything like that, just very good, but preliminary reports makes it seem a little deeper, a little more dangerous, maybe a little stouter … would be great to NOT just rely on Flores’ sharpness using bendable toys on a chessboard.

We have some big questions to answer but, let’s say Murray beats my expectations and he and the OL stay relatively healthy. Sure, I could see a very competitive team. Even the pre-season SB favorite teams have big questions to answer. On paper, nobody is going to run away with it.

I thought our 2024 version could go as low as a 5 win team so my projections are way off base, if not the kiss of death. I certainly am no Murray fan but he does have more ‘umph’ than Darnold did walking on to our team.

It’s pretty wide open, I think, which is a good thing going into the season.

Couple other points not in the camp notes:

DT/DLine: Caleb Banks had bad pad levels in NYG Preseason game and was being pushed around....that needs work.
RB: Desmond Clairborne went later in draft do to fumbling problem but the speed/explosiveness is certainly there.
CB: Pierre was out a bit with injuries and Demmings stepped right in and looks good.

First half vs the Lions: Punt, Punt, FG, Punt, FG. It was worse in the 2nd half, just 3 points.

First half vs the Rams: Punt, FG, Interception, Fumble, Downs. Second half more of the same but 2 FGs.

Again, the Lions D was decimated.

The Rams D, to zero in, was just below dead average (17th) in PA and 27th in EXP.

Phil's "top defense(s)" my arse.

I don't want to rehash old games but if I have to.....

I recall it being the worst two games ever played by an offensive line.

The Rams rocked us, but Detroit absolutely didn’t.

Sam was not pressured, hurried or hit any more than in the rest of the season.

The problem was Sam completely ignored the short and middle targets that were running wide open all game. He crumbled under mental pressure, not physical pressure.

Myles Price had a hard time containing his excitement when asked about what it was like having Moss in the Vikings’ receiver meeting.

“He was sitting right next to me. He was giving me, like, tips. I couldn’t believe it! I’m not gonna lie. He’s sitting casually, I’m eating my food, and he’s like, ‘Hey, you could have gave him this instead of that.’ I’m like, ‘You’re right — I could have did that.’ And then we get out here on the field before practice; he comes out here and shows me a little vet move that I can apply to my game. I just think that’s so cool. It’s one of the greatest feelings knowing I have a guy like Randy Moss out here showing me the way.”

I don't have the article immediately available, a few weeks ago I read an article (maybe it was linked here ?) that stated the Rams are a heavy favorite to win the Super Bowl, and that is BEFORE getting Aaron Donald out of retirement, or even without getting him.

The article stated something like, of the last 6 or 7 teams that were that strong of favorites to win the SB before the season, only 1 of those teams actually won the Super Bowl. And that 1 team was the Patriots, and it took them beating the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes, in OT of a playoff game, and that was the game that led to the change in OT rules for playoff games.

I think it was Josh Allen and the Bills losing to Mahomes and the Chiefs that made the change to OT rules.

2 series, against backups.......too early?

I would classify the O, with JJM leading, as "skiddish". They always seem to be "off" when he's in there. Forget about the fact that he's already sailed a few.

And missed 2 chances at TD's by throwing fastballs right thru the hands when the fastball wasn't needed.

Yeap. What I meant by "sailing a few". Still early in camp but I would not be shocked, at all, they move him and go with KM-CW as 1-2.

I don't put stock in the overall performance of any offense or defense this time of year, but do expect QBs to be pretty accurate (and in JJMs case correct past flaws), RBs to see holes, defenders to tackle, etc.

It's obvious JJ needs the work, so why not give him more than a quarter of play time? Instead let's give Brosmer a full half.....makes no sense to me.

KOC is clueless. Our D better ball out this year.

I don't know... he is air mailing balls to wide open receivers in his 3rd year.
I think his time in MN is drawing to a close.

For someone who was pumped the vikings drafted a 1st round QB... this could not have gone worse.

Too many cooks in the kitchen. KOC has an Assistant Head Coach plus an Assistant to the Head Coach. https://www.vikings.com/team/coaches-roster/

Reminds me of the running gag on The Office with Dwight, the Assistant to the Regional Manager but he continually says Assistant Regional Manager.

He started the game and literally got some work... but it wasn't good. I'm not sure what or if he learned anything after the fact, but players have to maximize opportunities. That said, I would have given him a bit more time in the 2nd quarter while still getting Wentz out there for a few passes.

Brosmer got the second half but that's free for all helter-skelter football with unknowns constantly running on and off the field, penalties every other play, etc. Practically akin to camp fodder.

Lewis from the Athletic said JJM got banged up and the plan was to play him longer.

JJM is bag of potato chips that has been mishandled by the grocery store shelf stockers. Just a lot of crumbs and excuses.

Man, I heard that JJM sailed 3 consecutive throws over guys heads in a RZ drill that didn't feature any D. If he's missing guys like that still

He did that last year, this camp, and yesterday. After the game, he said:

"And it's great to have that experience logged in and that data logged in to be able to make that throw next time.... You get it out now and log that feeling, like I said, and make sure you hit it the next time."

Guess yesterday was the first time he started logging stuff.

The guy sucks. Let's just call it what it is. What could possibly go wrong drafting a guy that they hid in the offense in college?

It's Coming out that he got banged up again (excuse or not). The explanations are making me laugh-cry. He either:

1. Is injury prone
2. Is too dumb to realize he's about to be killed (running in to guys after the play is over......ect)
3. Can't read the play quick enough and is killed (most likely)
