Still posting about me, I came here to discuss football, whether or not KOC is really the best fit for McCarthy.

Do see girl as an insult ? It could be thought of as a compliment, there are many young ladies today that are stronger persons than men of the same age.

Wrong, I posted about whether or not KOC is the coach to bring out the best in McCarthy.

It is you that is reposting my comments and trying to bully me. It's not going to work.

To answer your question about KOC.....NO! Honestly McCarthy has a long way to go no matter who coaches him.

o'connell is failing mccarthy, the team, and its fans....

he's throwing mccarthy into the deep end of the pool before he's learned to swim....

o'connell is a pass-happy psychopath....

i would tell him to hand the play calling over to mccown/phillips or leave the team....

imo we have a top 10 team, but o'connell is killing us....

the strongest leaders know their limitations....

“For the second consecutive season, Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski is relinquishing playcalling duties. Stefanski said Monday that offensive coordinator Tommy Rees will call plays Sunday in the team’s road game against the New York Jets. The 2-6 Browns returned from the bye and held a practice Monday. The Browns have the third-lowest scoring offense in the NFL, averaging 15.8 points per game.”

The biggest thing McCarthy needs to do is clean up his mechanics. The tipped throws, the 2 yard sideline throws that lead the receiver out of bounds, the sailed intermediate throws...all sloppy mechanics.

KOC is exactly setting him for success either. I put that second int squarely on KOC. He set JJ up to fail on that play.

That all could be true, although the run-pass balance in JJM's first three games was pretty good where he attempted 20, 21, and 25 passes.

As has been stated, it was befuddling to say the least considering the game was close and the running game wasn't the worst it's ever been. But way too many penalties created unfavorable down and distances.

Those penalties were the story, or underlying plot, of the game.

"imo we have a top 10 team..."

Even with KOC, I don't see that. The D, OL, and QB all have issues. Among teams that have played just 9 games, we are 2nd in penalties with a fragile ecosystem that cannot handle such hiccups and obstacles during drives.

We are probably still a team nobody wants to play, mainly due to the possibility that Flores brings his full set of magic cards and becomes the wizard of old.

But overall, we are firmly in the cellar a full two games behind... Chicago.

Well, that was the definition of shitting the bed.

The penalties. Wow. 8 false starts?! So unacceptable that I'm as a loss for words.

JJM had a poor game. Errant passes and overthrows. Should have run up the middle on the one INT for an easy first down.

Jettas had an awful game. Felt like one of those old Moss games where he just didn't feel like it that day.

KOC was dogshit. Playcalling was awful. And not having his team ready for that game? Give up the playcalling - you suck at it.

Price? Dude....

There were some bright spots: Nailor, the defense played fairly well for most of the game, the running backs ran the ball well on their 13 touches....

They played like it was a preseason game.

On a positive note, I think JJM is very self aware. He knows he has plenty to improve on and seems to have the work ethic to do it. I'm hoping this is a Josh Allen type situation. He was all fast balls his 1st couple years and worked on some mechanical stuff and is now an MVP.

Why we don't do more RPO is beyond me. Maybe the injury factor is keeping them away from it. But, he seems to be getting hit pretty good with the play action 7 step drop stuff.

The batted passes are a concern but that could be cleaned up with some quicker decisions and not holding the ball until pocket collapses.

I don't want to see him run because of his injury history and the threat of injury. Yes, it is a dilemma because he is taking shots in the pocket. Hopefully he gets rid of the ball faster over time, although that won't stop unblocked jailbreak defenders zeroing in on him. Pocket presence, moving just enough, etc. We'll see if he adjusts.

I guess my point with the RPO is not him running the ball, although he will have to do it a little to keep defenses honest.

With RPO you are always facing the defense. Play action you turn your back to defense and have to assess the pass rush, coverage and your WRs in a split second after you turn around.

Yeah. Hopefully he and the entourage of QB coaches are learning as KOC continues his sunshine in a meadow long term QB plan or whatever he called it. The more immediate concern is defenses are after him, rightly so.

I want to commend everyone this morning for talking about the match that is KOC and McCarthy, lots of interesting points.

I don't come here to get attention, negative or positive, I come here for Vikings talk and interesting discussion. Only one person this morning had to put in a dig at me, calling me 'martyr', that was someone that was wanting attention, it was projection. But even that person then went on to bring up some good points in the discussion about KOC and McCarthy.

That was another winnable home game. I had gone to see the Ravens and Dolphins in Miami and I wasn't too impressed with Ravens. Sure they won that by 22 but Miami was the better team in the first half but they shot themselves in the foot and the Ravens were efficient in the red zone.

This game was similar but the Ravens weren't efficient in the red zone and that's why it came down to the final possession. KOC is getting in his own way, while I agree taking a shot with JJ in single coverage is worth it, but he's not Moss, it doesn't have to be a go route. Have him break it off to the outside, a throw that McCarthy is comfortable with. I'm not sure if he's being over coached not to run, but McCarthy ran for many key first downs on 3rd and medium for Michigan. Can't this be worked on in practice and he can let his instincts take over during the game. That pick by Starks kickstarted the mid game collapse.

On Jets poor game. It was poor no doubt, the Ravens were physical with him, more so down field than most. Thought he was held on the 4th down in the red zone, a crafty tug on the arm by the Ravens DB. The McCarthy factor is frustrating him no doubt.

A new OLine coach is needed, McCarthy's cadence along with Brandel's inexperience are to blame as well for all of the false starts, but the group has been underwhelming, and no one seems to improve within this group.

The D hung on just enough Van Ginkel was immense. Redmond has been a real find and Allen is starting to play better as well. The Lewis Cine whiff (perhaps injury related) has hurt because this D needs that impact safety to tie everything together. They really miss Cam Bynum.

Price's willingness to make plays is admirable, but he needs to pick his spots more. Obviously you can't anticipate fumbles and I'm not sure he could have taken the knee there but there are times to simply take it to the 35.

They put up a graphic in the 4th that was the story of the game. No matter how good/bad JJM is, or will be, it's hard for anyone to overcome this:

2 Ints
1 fumble lost
100 yards in penalties
2 turnovers on downs

That many false starts, can someone please explain how you can have so many at your HOME game? Does JJ have a funky cadence or was the team not focused and that would be on KOC. I like watch McCarthy play and he will improve, but needs to quit throwing fastballs on every throw, need some touch.

#1: Eventually you have to stop with the tricky cadence and get the ball snapped.
#2---run the ball against a bottom 4 run defense.
#3--3rd and 1 we continually run deep routes......
#4-- When you have bumps in the road you run the ball.

It was the sheer number of penalties (13).
