And yes, when I wrote that about JJM I believed he had a high likelihood of being out of the league in two years. First, I thought even if he was traded or cut he would languish on the bench and would not have an opportunity to learn the system. Second, I think his contract follows him and nobody was/is going to pick up his upcoming 5th year option of $20+ million this March. So then he would likely be cut again (not sure on how the 5th year thing affects that). At that point he'd be trying to latch on with yet another team, still without experience which rules out being the steady veteran backup. And by then he wouldn't be the new boom/bust guy. So he'd wash out of the league.

Instead, he was traded and was somehow the default #2 QB behind a shitty starter. He jumped in during a game and did well vs. a prevent defense. That kind of thing is not uncommon. But he followed that up with an ok game (I don't recall the stats). So through fate and his own efforts he is now positioned for a career-changing opportunity.

And what's odd about him is usually DCs watch film and after 3-4 games have a read on a new QB. But JJM plays helter-skelter so there is no pattern. Coaches do not like helter-skelter so the real test will be whether he can consistently play well within the system.

Overall, unless he is the opposing QB I really don't care if he succeeds or falters, or whether my statement is right or wrong.

I always hear music from that old twilight zone show when reading Marty's posts

Intro: You're traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind... Next stop, the Twilight Zone!

Scene 1: Wild-eyed man on the street yelling Taylor would make the Vikings a SB contender, if they aren't already, and I am right about both of those things...

Police close in with straightjacket.

My point was that Lawrence is a successful player, that is helping the Bengals. He would have helped the Vikings, and made them even better. The Bengals showed it wouldn't have taken that much to get Lawrence, and that he can be a beast on another team.

So I was right about Lawrence.

The Vikings might never do the things I recommend to improve and make the team a SB winner, it won't stop me from making great recommendations to increase their chances.

Bill, glad to see you already admit you were wrong about McCarthy, no matter how many caveats you put around it. I am not sure if we will ever know why he and KOC couldn't get along, and why they traded this talented prospect, who just seems to win. Another point I was right about: JJ was going to a place where he has a decent chance to be successful, a HC that has won a SB, some good WRs, some decent RBs, the #1 QB being out, and a weak division. The Giants have a great chance of winning the division with McCarthy at the helm.

To dumb down my point down for Bill:

The Vikings are a SB contender right now.

Should the Vikings acquire Jonathan Taylor, it would make them an even stronger SB contender.

I am right about many things. Dexter Lawrence, Jonathan Taylor, Breece Hall, and JJ McCarthy are not David Boston's, they continue to be great players.

Can't wait for Bill to have the guts to mention a player, maybe one that others hadn't considered, that could be acquired to help the Vikings, before the trade deadline.

There is no RB we are going to add that will make any meaningful difference. With poor IOL play and weak pass game, there is nothing for a defense to fear.

KOC shit the bed as a "QB whisperer" and playcaller. Period. I will be glad when he is gone.

Yes, of course your great recommendations increase the chances for the Vikings to be a SB winner. After all, you've repeatedly stated Vikings decision makers read these threads. So it all fits.

OK everyone, let's get Twilight Zone Scene Two ready. Where is the telepathy guy? I need those fake brain waves with the weird sounds pronto! And Teasley, you need to be on point! Really FEEL those great recommendations.

You are wrong Richard, Taylor is a great player that would make the Vikings a Super Bowl contender. Hopefully they make the trade, and prove you wrong.

I stated that the Vikings might have people that monitor these types of boards for getting a pulse, or for getting ideas, not that those people were the decision makers. Thank you.

Hopefully they realize that plenty of the pulse believe Jonathan Taylor can be a difference maker, and sign him this week.

Taylor is already proven to be a great back, I believe that he will prove me right that he makes the Vikings an even better SB contender, if they sign him.

OK folks, where is that pulse generator? Did Rod Sterling take it home? Where is he?

Daniel Jones - Signing him doesn't excite me, as he hasn't carried a team in December. But then again, I never thought Sam Darnold would win a SB, so the potential here might be similar. So I am on the fence with this one.

Kirk Cousins - I feel that he has proven himself to be unlikely to be clutch, don't even think he is available. I would say no, even if he were available.

Justin Herbert - Will probably cost too much. He shows talent, what is wrong with him this year ? Can the Vikings fix those things. I am not sure, maybe someone that is knowledgeable here can share an opinion on him.

This guy thinks the Vikings have an historic defense, that Jonathan Taylor could cover up some of the play calling mistakes:

He also thinks that next year the Vikings might hire Mike Tomlin as the HC, and keep Brian Flores at DC.

RE: Taylor

Lars is right. Unless they really fix the IOL and KOC finds a good OC, nothing will change, no matter who they can/will sign. I get that many don't see him as a good HC but I still like KOC in that role. He's a mess of an OC though, IMO.

That's just ludicrous.

Flores deserves the job if KOC is let go.

Tomlin would want to run HIS Defense, not what Flores does and that would cause a real locker room problem.

And further if Flores stays, which is unlikely, it is either under KOC as DC or as a HC. There's no way he stays as a DC for another HC.

This guy is clueless

He says you are wrong but then says he hopes you are proven wrong. That's a mystery.

Don't worry though. The entire board, sans Marty, doesn't think a RB will do much without addressing bigger issues (QB, IOL, play calling, etc). That is the "plenty of the pulse" (sic) lol.

No Marty. It's been two months not two years. JJM's fate is to be determined. I won't care but you go ahead and mark September 2028 as a reminder in case you haven't already.

Agree with every line. The shit people come up with and import.

Flores would slap a lawsuit on them just on principle!

I feel bullish with Wentz. I thought he was good last season despite 4 out of 5 starting olinemen being out and another Darrisaw being in and out of the lineup. He also didn't have JJ for a chunk of his starts and Hock wasn't 100% it seems either.

As long as he doesn't go full hero mode Wentz he should do just fine. The team seems to like him as well, someone they can rally behind.

Tomlin is mediocre, no way would I want him to be the coach. He's a more recent version of Jeff Fisher, and actually I thought Fisher to be the better coach anyways (Titans years). McCarthy has already improved the Steelers to an outside contender in the AFC and this is the best they've looked since prime Ben and Antonio Brown.
