A 'sway' might be needed, we will take it, if they're willing to give it.

Have a couple of things going on so I won't be here much for a while. Dad has stage 4 cancer and Step Daughter just had a car accident on Saturday. Luckily her husband and the 18 month old twins are fine but she has multiple fractures in her right arm.

Driver was doing 70 in a 55. She was turning left 1.5 miles from our house to see us for Halloween at 12pm ish and was passing a farm tractor then taking a left. The driver tried passing the tractor and her car and then realized she was also taking a left. He flipped his Camero and was ejected (wasn't wearing a seat belt) and survived w/o a scratch somehow and the stepdaughters car (A Ford Focus) got spun around 1-2 times. Very grateful everyone survived.

Please take a look around and make sure you say what you have to who you can.....we could have lost 4 of our love ones Saturday.

Wow, Phil, thanks for sharing that...puts our Viking woes in perspective

Always great to catch your perspectives, whether we agree or not

Thoughts are with you and your fam

Agree with all the bench Murray stuff...I never thought he would be this terrible....

I hope the hamstring is our way to a soft benching

I really think Wentz is much more a KOC type QB

All the trade for RB talk doesn't move the needle for me at all, not with QB play this bad

Saw some one mention trading for Daniel Jones...

Feels like that is possible/reasonable...knows the system, wouldn't be too pricey...

Another article talked about trades that won't likely happen, but said Vikes should go after Herbert

That is one that moves the needle for me, but that price is extreme

whatever happens, QB is the key

Get a Pro Bowl guard, and Jonathan Taylor, and the Vikings can compete with any team.

Or be stupid, do no trades, go 10-7, and pray the draft will shore up the weaknesses and make the team a contender somewhere down the line.

I just don't know how much incentive there is for Teasley to make a move this year.

He probably sees the QB situation as unfixable. (which is likely true)

That means any chance at winning it all is EXTREMELY REMOTE.

Trading draft picks away on a team he didn't build makes it harder for him to build the team he envisions.

I guess we'll see.

Agreed. Poor QB play is a big reason why the offense is arguably the worst in football. There are no QBs out there who are going to catch lightning in a bottle and help lead the team to the SB.

Teasley is going to face a huge challenge this offseason.

I think O'Connell's offense is just broken and he doesn't know how to fix it. The QB play this season with Murray looks the same to me as last year with JJM. In fact, this offense has pretty much been dog shite since week 16 2024. The only common denominator is O'Connell.

IMO, the offense itself isn't broken.
The offense + murray is completely broken.

If you check the link I posted.. and there are a bunch others out there...
There are guys getting open.
Guys getting open for easy completions that would be big gains.
Multiple TDs there for the taking.
Murray just not capable or not seeing it or not confident enough or who knows...

.
the primary receivers are too deep...murray just throws the ball where he thinks they're supposed to be...also, he can't see over the linemen, so his passes are high....

The only thing that Murray brings, that Wentz doesn't, is he pretty good at protecting the ball. That said, it's been so anemic you have to live with Wentz's brain farts.

To be fair, Murray does have a bit more mobility....

But that hasn't translated to success.

Wentz has run the O better than Murray has thusfar.

It's that simple.

After 1 loss you want to go with Wentz?

Kyler drove us down and scored when needed and we didn't go for it on 4th and 5 after our Defense didn't stop Detroit the series before......I don't know if it still warrants the change.

I think our RG is our biggest problem right now. I think Fries is affecting the running game and passing game.

It's not the loss.
It's the lack of progression.

After the Saints game I was pretty optimistic as Murray looked to be starting to gel with the offense.

Since then... he has been turning down open receivers, airmailing passes and for the most part refusing to run.

He missed Addison for a wide open touchdown (late and short)
He missed Jefferson for a wide open touchdown. (high)
Airmailed a sideline pass to JJ for an easy 3rd down conversion.
Those are passes you have to make to be a legit contender.
Those misses get you losses.

When Detroilet's defense lost FIVE starters to injury during this game, Kyler Murray was unable to take advantage. That to me is damning.

When we needed a drive, Kyler Murray led this offense to a 3 and out. When Our defense needed a breather he went 3 and out. When it mattered MOST, Kyler Murray didn't get the job done.

But the most damning part to me is JJ showing visible signs of frustration ON THE FIELD and ON THE SIDELINES.

This team wen't 6-0 despite having Kyler Murray as a QB. We lost because Kyler Murray couldn't get the job done when needed. Kyler Murray Missed WIDE OPEN guys repeatedly, his passes sailed overthrown many times. This team could be nearly unstoppable with an effective ball control offense, one that keeps moving the chains and dominates time of possession. That keeps the defense well rested and gives them a lead to work with. Kyler Murray has demonstrated to me that he is NOT the answer and that we have an window here that is closing fast because we don't get competent QB play. Wentz is no savior. But he runs it better than Murray.

I didn't come to this feeling just after losing one game. I felt this way three games ago. Wentz is the clearly the best QB we have on the roster right now.

I may as well cheer for the other team if we are starting Wentz. We are doomed.

If Wentz started against Detroit they would have blitzed continually up the middle like they did against Darnold the year before and Wentz has zero mobility. Fries/RG is the most serious problem right now.

But really? You don't think Wentz wins that game?

Kyler did not use his mobility much in that game... in fact I'd say he moved in the pocket pretty poorly.

I think Wentz wins that game pretty easily.

Can he make any noise going forward... I don't know... history would say probably not.

Such is Viking fandom.

I don't. TOP would have been worse also as Kyler had a couple first downs and that is how Detroit beats you---TOP and at the end the defense hasn't very little left.

I don't agree. Wentz likely throws to an open reciever and gets first downs and keeps drives going. I don't know how you think Kyler would be better here...I understand the mobility factor, but Wentz can see the open receiver and deliver the ball. I don't think you can determine who would have been better at TOP, but Wentz has run this offense better, which means more passes to open receivers delivered accurately. I personally believe THAT would have kept drives alive where Kuler's died and that would have won us this game. But that, is JMO

They are basically the same type of games we see with Kyler except:
1) Less TOP.
2) More TOs
3) Less Mobility.

If you choose Wentz for the rest of the year.....we have no shot in the playoffs. I don't see the defense holding up. Kyler still has the higher ceiling.

I am hoping for a QB trade this week....just don't know which. I can't believe the Ravens traded for Brissett.

Murray upside?

He needs to stand on a fricken rolling office chair to make plays..

He has to roll out to see past his line and the incoming rush..

Then his accuracy goes into the “Josh Freeman was throwing darts” hyperbole zone..

Yeah I'm not seeing it either. The offense turns into 3 and outs all the time.

Even our 3 and outs have 3 and outs.

More from ESPN, because... content.

What is the deadline goal? Careful decisions. The Vikings understand their winning start has put them in strong position for a playoff spot, if not an NFC North title. Their winning formula -- elite-level defense and special teams, with an offense that doesn't commit many turnovers -- has been used by many Super Bowl teams. But they also want to preserve their future draft classes for new GM Nolan Teasley, who was hired in part to restock the roster with young talent. So they will and have listened to every possibility and are interested in adding to both lines as well as at running back and tight end but will make careful decisions. -- Kevin Seifert

Who should they target? Chargers QB Justin Herbert. Go big or go home. Would coach Kevin O'Connell be able to unlock the skills that made Herbert great early in his career in a way L.A. coordinator Mike McDaniel hasn't been able to this season? -- Schatz

A DE like Everson Griffin in his prime, makes a defense better than it really is, and at times covers up for scheme weaknesses.

I think a RB like Jonathan Taylor can do the same thing for an offense, he probably has 2 really good years left in him.

Comparing Wentz and Murray is too small of sample if only using this year, for time of possession comparisons.

Murray had Minnesota way behind against GB, and then he played 4 soft defenses in Miami, NO, Indy and Detroit.

Wentz played Minnesota to victory over GB, then went on the road to Chicago on a wet field.

Wentz went on the road and beat a team that I think will be in the playoffs this year, so he has my vote to start in the playoffs, unless Murray does the same.

My plan:

1) get a Pro Bowl guard
2) get RB Jonathan Taylor
3) start Wentz Dec 6 onward

Murray can play the next 4 games, see if there is improvement (and it preserves Wentz), and see if Murray can win one of the road against 2 teams that could be playoff teams, GB and SF. Unless Murray isn't healthy to play this week.

Be conservative, do nothing and wait for the results of a possibly good Teasley draft, while somehow keeping the great players on defense, Jefferson, and Flores, and you might see the Vikings end up last in the division this season.

Or make just the 2 moves I suggested, a Pro Bowl guard and Jonathan Taylor, and the Vikes have a good chance at winning the division, and are possible Super Bowl contenders for the next 3 years.
