Can't just cut and paste a picture...sigh...

This is a hydro pole - perhaps you've seen one before?

It's the same thing with any police tow .

Everytime I got caught driving without a license it cost me $300 for the tow !

Don't Ask !!!

Now you shouldn't go around piquing our interest like that than pulling the rug out!  Everytime you got caught without a license?  Happened at least a few times then?  Don't ask indeed...  I have to...I can't help it...Why were you driving without a license for so long?

Forgot to pay a ticket . Moved and the Pa DMV doesn't let it's mail get forwarded so I didn't know my license was suspended . Got stopped since my license was already suspended now it became a full one year suspension . I said **** that I am not stopping driving . Got stopped with 3 months to go to get my license now it is a two year suspension .

Said to myself I was so close and if I didn't stop because one year was to big an inconveinience I surely am not going to to stop for two . Kept driving got seven months from getting my license and got stopped again .

This cop says you if you get caught again you will be regarded as a habitual abuser and the judge has to give you mandatory jail time . I decided that going to jail was not in my future !

So after getting suspended for 3 years and 40 days I stopped driving .

You ****ing Asked !!!!

Thanks for sharing!

You can't say "Don't Ask" and not expect people to ask...

The good thing is when I move to Venezuela in the new year I can get a Venezuelan license immediately and then get an international license immediately and even though my suspension is not over till mid 2011 , I will be able to drive when I come back to visit !

There is more than one way to skin a DMV !

$280 does seem like a fleecing to tow it from the site to the compound. But couldn't you just drive it from there to the mechanic or was it not operating to do so?

We were told to get it checked out. That part was the $30 part.

The cops finding it and calling in a tow was what cost me nearly 10 X as much.

I misunderstood.

No one asked me what I wanted to do when they found it. They just had it towed.

The other day there was an article in the Startribune by old Viking Great OLB Matt Blair . At the bottom listed an e-mail address an for him and I was inspired to write him and tell at least one of my past heros how I felt and what he had meant to me in my life. The resulting return e-mail made me realize that he was not only a great player but also a very exceptional man and human being .

Here's to Matt Blair all time Viking great !!!

My opening e-mail :

Dear Mr Blair ,

I was a young man in the 60's and 70's and even though I am a Cuban immigrant that grew up in Pennsylvania (eastern Pa. Beagles country) I saw something special in the Bud Grant led Minnesota Vikings and became a lifelong fan . I am not an autograph person so if I would ever have the pleasure of meeting you I would not ask for one .  But rather ask to shake your hand and express my sincere gratitude for all the great memories that you and the other Viking Greats gave to me and my father (who also was a Viking fan we always watched together) !

He passed away this past spring after a long and wonderful life and it has made me appreciate my memories of him and of my happy youth so much more than before . As professional athletes I don't know if you realize just how much you touch the lives of people that you never meet in person or ever utter a word to .

Well sir I am here to say thank you from the bottom of my heart . You brought me much happiness , joy and excitement in my early years and much more than that gave another avenue to spend time with my father and enjoy his company .

Thank you again my brother and may all of you and families wildest dreams become reality and may you have many happy , healthy years to spend together enjoying your good fortune !!!

Sincerely ,
--
Eduardo Santiago Fernandez

Matt Blair's response :

Eduardo,

I'm so sorry for the loss of your father.  And am very touched at your letter.  Your letter was the most moving one I've ever received.  It touched my heart in a way I didn't know was possible.

God puts us in places during our lives that we never really can pinpoint but, sir, you surely made my day with your moving words.  I have always been grateful for what I have been able to do in life and you're right.  We never really realize how we impact others along the way.

Thank you for sharing your story with me and may God bless you and your family!  If you are in Minnesota, I'd love to meet you one day to be able to shake YOUR hand for the most touching, inspiring, letter you've given to me.

All my best,

Matt

I can still remember Howard Cosell on Monday Night Football saying :

quote:

Matt Blair rookie from Iowa St many teams gave up on him after he tore up his knee as a senior but the Minnesota Vikings front office remembered his brilliance as a junior and took a chance on him . And here he is starting at OLB and looking to be a star in the league for years to come !

Matt Blair OLB ,Jeff Siemon MLB and Doug Sutherland DT were the first repacements to the original Purple People Eaters of the late 60's and kept the tradition of excellence going throughout the 70's !

That is very cool, Eduardo.

Blair was my favorite Viking! I always remembered his blocked kicks, his sacks, tenacity...he was the epitome of what a LB should be, IMO.

I remember comparing him and LT, thinking they were the two best LB's in the game, but Blair got the edge because he was MY team's star...

Sounds like a nicer guy, too

Eduardo, I knew you had good sense bro!

When I was a kid, I would trade all my cards for Matt Blair. He was my favorite player from that period. Sammy White was close on offense. Good memories!

Good Lord that was awesome eduardo !

Nice work man... that's the coolest email exchange I've ever read.  Especially since Matt was always such a smart player - you just knew he was a sharp guy.  I especially like his attitude: he doesn't seem self-absorbed or even strong of ego.  Seems like a regular, decent guy.

Man, that was cool.  Thanks again Bro.

Too bad Tiger is out of it. You practicaly have the $5 in your pocket.

Winning is always nice but there's no sport in it for you come Sunday.

They wanted it to be about Tiger pretty bad they're going do have to get used to Tiger being just
another guy.

Phil going for his 4th is huge. I love how they were saying Hanson will be experiencing something completely foreign, holding the lead at the Masters and Phil will be out there doing something he considers fun.

I gave him the opportunity to take Phil today and the same bet and he took it. That kept it interesting for awhile.

You're lucky, Ricky. That was Phil's to lose and with one bad bounce, a mistake and a triple bogey later...

I'm not sure Tiger will ever win another Major.  Taking his personal life out of it, I have always thoguht Tiger was going to shatter any golf record on the books....but when you put in all the personal stuff, and the multiple knee surgeries and his obsession with always changing his swing I just don't think he has the mental make up to do it anymore.  Watching him on the golf course flinging and now kicking clubs makes me shake my head.  Sure, he has always been the one who would slam him club down and yell, but that was one or two bad shots a round....seems every hole now he has a look of dispair on his face.  As much as I'd like to see Tiger raise to the level he once was....I just don't think he has it anymore.  That, and I have to wonder if he even likes playing golf anymore.

Phil's problem has always been that when he's in control he gets too cocky and takes too many risks.  He fails to play it safe when playing it safe is the smart thing to do.  He gets too agressive, gets a bad shot or two and can't recover.

Considering his build, I figure he should quit golf and get into MMA, but then I remember how his ex wife, that little waif of scandanavian girl, beat the shit out of him...and well...Now I think he should take up crochet'

Seriously though.  Most golfers, when they reach his age, start to fall off in competition considerably.  Factor in the knee issues and his inability to stick with a swing that's worked...He's not going to win another major until he's on the senior tour and can dominate the senior majors for a while.

I agree with a lot of what you guys are saying but I wouldn't count out Tiger winning another major or three. I used to think the record for majors (Tiger is 4 off) weren't just waiting to fall but waiting to be shattered.

I no longer think it is a forgone conclusion but I think he can, just like anyone else can, scratch together another one here and there.

The only way Tiger starts winning majors again is if he returns to playing nearly every single tournament.  Once he stopped doing that, skipping tourney's left and right, his domination of the sport waned.  I think his golf conditioning was stronger, both physically and mentally, when he played all the time.

Yep...I think he has to play a lot more than he does.  He has 14 majors and a total of 72 tour victories....to me that says he has to play more tournaments.  He needs to get on the golf course and complete.  If all he wants to do is play in a few tournaments to warm up for the Majors, he won't ever break the record.

The guy was on his way to the golfing stratusphere.....was going to rewrite the record books and make guys like Nicklous, Palmer, Sneed and Watson look like average players.  I don't think that Tiger ever surpasses any of them now....more like just move over and make room on the same pedestal.
