But you'll always have those freaking rings, they don't take em away.
Scariest playoffs ever
There are some JUGGERNAUTS this year ESP in the West.
Incredibly top heavy.
Hawks Kings Stars Blues are all killers that will be hard outs.
Caps may benefit from playing an exhausted West survivor.

Appointment television, to be sure. The caps are going to see some tough teams on the way through the east, too, but nothing like the West. Watch out for the blues; they seem to be finding a rhythm when it matters most.

KEEP KIDS PLAYING the game they love.

Adam Carlson, twice cut during tryouts in Edina, has just signed with the Washington Capitals organization and is leaving Mercyhurst College after one season.

Twice cut from hockey tryouts at Edina High School, goaltender Adam Carlson overcame those setbacks and now is under contract with the NHL's Washington Capitals.

Carlson, who just finished his first season of Division I play with Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pa., signed a two-year tryout deal Monday with the team and reports immediately to the Capitals' top minor league team, the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League. Carlson's two-way agreement means he's paid based on what level he plays while in the Capitals organization.

His deal mirrors the one signed earlier this week by Wayzata's Mario Lucia with the Minnesota Wild, which chose the Notre Dame forward in the second round of the 2011 NHL Draft.

Carlson posted a 7-7-3 record for Mercyhurst, with a 2.85 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage.

Immediately before college, the 6-foot-3 netminder spent two junior hockey seasons with the Coulee Region Chill of the North American Hockey League and a year before that with two teams in lower junior leagues.

While with the Chill in the La Crosse, Wis., area, he registered a 38-27-10 record with seven shutouts, a 2.52 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage in 81 games, good enough to catch the attention of the Mercyhurst coaching staff.

As a sophomore at Edina, Carlson failed to land a spot on the junior varsity roster. He skipped tryouts as a junior and was cut again as a senior. During his last year in high school, he played on Edina's Junior Gold A youth team, helping the squad win a state title. That roster is primarily for seniors who don't make the varsity team.

I'm just bitter (still) because they came to our place and during warm-ups they were calling us the "Children of the Corn".

The Hurricanes are moving to Quebec City.

I have a new favorite team.

That used to be my favorite team....when they were in Hartford.

It's all come full circle.

Paul Ranheim, Adam Burt, Darren Turcotte. Loved those mid-'90s teams...at least the video game versions of them.

CHICAGO (AP) -- Blackhawks star defenseman Duncan Keith has waived his right to an in-person hearing for high-sticking Minnesota Wild forward Charlie Coyle.

The NHL's Department of Player Safety announced late Thursday night that Keith will have a phone hearing instead on Friday afternoon.

The offer for an in-person hearing meant the league can suspend Keith more than five games, but it doesn't have to. Chicago has five regular-season games remaining, starting with Friday's visit to Winnipeg.

I like the idea of a heavier pro hockey presence in Canada. I would not mind if one of the teams in Florida and the Arizona team moved north. The Medicine Hat Panthers has a nice ring to it, eh?

The Seals were Seattle, right? I never saw them play. I remember the Whalers, though. And, of course, the Stars. I used to go to the Chicago Stadium to watch the Stars play the Hawks, and I was actually a Stars fan at that time. When they left Minnesota, they were dead to me.

I think Keith and the Hawks are resigned to his being out at least 10 games. I have not heard anything, but something as blatant as his face attack the other night, plus his history of stick work, makes a long suspension an easy call.

I am more concerned about the condition of Corey Crawford. The Hawk's front office is not even saying when he got hurt, much less what his injury is. It's pretty obvious that it is a head injury, but when he was injured is unclear. All I know is, he hasn't even been cleared to skate yet.
