The San Jose Sharks traded for pending unrestricted free agent Evander Kane as they try to maintain their playoff spot in the West, according to reports.

The Buffalo Sabres will receive a conditional first-round pick in 2019, a conditional fourth-round pick in 2020 and forward prospect Dan O'Regan, according to reports.

Kane, 26, has posted 20 goals and 20 assists in 61 games in 2017-18 for the Sabres. He is in the final season of a six-year contract he initially signed with the Winnipeg Jets that has an annual cap hit of $5.25 million

Oh yeah? Well the Wild traded Mario Lucia for that other minor leaguer.

Well, I liked Hartman and the return was pretty good, but we have not come close to addressing the real issue with the team. A first and fourth might reap some rewards, though. How about what Stevie Y is doing down in tampa? He was my all-time favorite player, now he's trying to be my all time favorite GM. Bowman still has my heart, though.

Crazy, huh? Yzerman was Toews of the last generation, but with better defense. I used to get heckled at the old Stadium because I would try to explain how Steve was the best player on the ice. Try that with someone who thinks Tony Amonte was the best player who ever put on skates!

Last night was a friggin' disgrace. The guys on the ice have basically quit on the owners, coaching staff, and fans. That second period was inexcusable. I am in favor of getting rid of every player who watched the puck go by them with one second on the clock. No pride, no interest, no job.

Wow. Seabrook AND Keith look like a couple of mutts today. That's not something I'm used to seeing. Would you guys be upset with me if I bandwagoned on the Wild for the playoffs?

Kane is the only big name on this team who is putting forth some effort. Anisimov is playing tough, too. Toews looks lost without Hossa. Saad appears to be a huge waste of money, and Seebs looks old, slow, and fat.

Well, the bad news is the Hawks look like they are out of it for a few years. The good news is the Eddie O is cancer free! Kind of makes sports seem less important.

So true, SoMn. I'm glad he's out of town. But, my bigger question about the team is how do they go about fixing this thing? Karlsson from Ottawa would be a start, but he's going to be pricey to be a realistic option. He would check all the boxes on what they need right now, though.

Devils / Lightning
Probably a barn burner series
Devils owned the Ning this season
But TB is truly elite.
Tampa in 7

Bruins / Leafs
Boston has built a nice team again unfortunately
Leafs are good but the Sophomore jinx is killing some of their best guys
Bruins in 6

Phlyers / Pens
Philly has actually pulled it together even with a Hack in charge
Pens are still the Pens
Pittsburgh in 5

Capitals / Blue Jackets
Caps might fnally have figured it out. Lay in the weeds
Columbus is tough man. Gritty MFers
Caps in 7

Knights / Kings
Vegas is a cute story.
Kings look ready to end the Vegas hopes
Kings in 7

Avs / Preds
Good news Avs, you're in
Bad news Avs, you've got this beast
Preds in 5

Sharks / Ducks
Love these Cali match ups. They are wars
Sharks are grizzled and pissed
Ducks are grizzled and pissed.
Ducks in 7 and a half

Wild / Jets
As usual we limp in. I've seen some good things, but ....
Jets are our nightmare matchup. Too big too fast too good
Jets in 5.

Should be a couple outstanding series in the mix
Preds and Jets are the beasts IMO
Hope the Ning come out of the East
But will never bet against the Pens.

Crosby, Malkin, and company cannot be stopped. 5-0 in the second. When they are hitting on all eight, they are a joy to watch.

Pens can simply roll people at times.
Cidney has taken "ridiculously good and lucky" to places never seen before
He's now tipping shots from 50 feet out, into any area of the net he chooses
Its been unfair lately.
And I no likey

I would love to see Toronto knock boston out in 4, but I don't think it will happen. The marchand-bergeron-pasternak line is really good.

I want Tornoto to lose big and Kadri should never step foot on the ice of an NHL game again. That guy is a disgusting goon and should be kicked out of the league......

+1 on both counts. Marchand is a very good player, but he is a real sonofabitch when he plays. Claude Lemieux minus the swagger.
