Canes need to turn things around at home and at least make it difficult for them. I haven't watched much of this series but what I did see didn't look promising.

Well, that was a poop samich

Justin Williams summed it up nicely.

Lost total respect for the NBC crew
Buying into Marchands bullshit
Ummm, yeah, he'd be a changed guy if he wasn't still the instigator.
Don't be stupid. He's not innocent in ANYTHING that's ever happened to him, Roenick.
You're acting like one of the stupid refs now.
"gee, I see Justin Williams punching Marchand in the face. Golly, I'm sure there's no reason for that. Poor Brad. "

I just have one thought on the Bruins playoff run. WHERE THE F*** WAS THIS CHARLIE COYLE FOR THE LAST 6+ YEARS!?

Glad you bring that up. Souhan's article in the Strib makes me want to take a sledgehammer to my toes just to forget about it. He's blaming Fenton on crappy trades and his Coyle point was this (if you haven't already read it). "Why is good around Bruins and not Wild players"?

Things will never change with this team until the 10000000 pound elephant in the room isn't addressed. I don't give an F it you swap out guys like Coyle for Donato, Grandlund for Fiala ect.....

The core of this team is shit and has been for 10 f'ng years. Until we get rid of Mikko, Zach, Dubnyk ect.....we will not win. They are role players at best but we were given insane contracts that we can't get out of.

Souhan knows less about hockey than he does about football, which he knows less about than basketball, which knows less about than baseball. And frankly he is pretty dumb about baseball, which is saying something because he used to be the Twins beat writer. It was a typical lazy article, blaming Fenton for not making the playoffs because he didn't use an anlytics based approach to his moves.

Putting this on Fenton instead of Fletcher is just plain stupid. Fletcher tried to build a winner by accumulating a volume of slightly above average players, while never trying to do anything to address the core. He overpaid to keep what he had. You can lay a lot of the blame on Leo too because he was the one who was obsessed with signing Parise and Suter, no matter what the cost. In the end, he had a capped out team that was never capable of more than getting bounced in the first round. Whether we like any of the Fenton trades individually, when you look at them cumulatively, he freed a lot of cap space by trading away talented under achievers. For the first time in a long time, the Wild can go shopping in the off season. This is big because there is no getting rid of Suter and Parise unless they decide to retire. This is the last year of Koivu and Fenton doesn't seem to have anything close to Fletch's infatuation with Mikko.

Absolutely. This team has put itself in salary cap hell to achieve mediocrity. You, SMF, me and a few others have been able to see this for years.

My fear is that STL wakes up and this becomes a grueling series and Boston cruises past the Canes and gets a lot of rest.

Whats your thoughts onn the Canes?
Bubble burst?
People are asking me
I think they have one tiny shot left ... they get back to Carolina and they get the boost from the crowd, and it turns back into the cinderella story .... or they get punched in the mouth and its over.
Sounds like one of those silly CYA type of posts, but its really all right there, imo.
They have to be pretty fragile right now.
If more things go to hell, its over.
If they get their feet back under them, then you're telling me theres a chance .....
I realize Boston is better, but they're not THIS much better.

I think Boston has been there and is in their heads. They have battled really hard but it was a gut punch to get their asses handed to them like they have. The first period will tell a LOT. If Boston survives that, as either down by 1 or up, series over IMO.

Blues decided … we got one chance
Grab, hang on, and hit everything that moves.
Puck or no puck.
And count on the refs to just watch and nod.
If that game was anywhere but SJ ... the building would have been burned down.
You can't check people who don't have the puck. It's a New rule.
