Gophers vs Ferris State tonight. With the sorry state of the Wild, this might have some entertainment value.

How did the Ferris State game go?

Gotta admit, the Gophers womens basketball game had a lot more appeal. I watched the entire Gophers game. Damn, we have a good team. And do we even have any Whalen recruits yet?? Multiple national titles to come.

Scott Reedy's first career hat trick carried the Gopher Hockey program to a 5-3 win over Ferris State on Friday night at 3M Arena as Minnesota is now unbeaten in seven of its last eight games.

Ferris State is one of the worst teams in the country this season. Pretty crazy, this game. This is a team that won the WCHA just a few years ago, and upset St Cloud State in the 1st round of the NCAA tourney. Now they are realllllllllllly bad.

No magic last night.....
That last period it was like the entire team decided to quit skating and just trying to hold on for a win. They got smoked in the 3rd period and got what they deserved.
There will be no magic until all the upper classmen are gone from the program. Very poor leadership from the seniors on this team.

Gophers with a nice win against Notre Dame last night. If they could only get over the hump and put 2 wins in a row together they just may get something going.

You ask Gophers answer. A road sweep at Notre Dame. They are in the running for a NCAA birth.

Nice to hear. I didn't get to see the game, but the first sweep of the season certainly is good news. They have been playing better hockey as of late so maybe Bob is making progress with this group.

Great weekend finally for the boys.
That GWing backhander was a ballsy thing of beauty.
Felt like the good old days.
For the first time, they reacted to things like they are a TEAM.
I truly believe one day Motzko will have them enjoyable to watch again.
Might not be because they are uber-talented, but more because they actually like hockey, and each other.
This team needed to start there. Hopefully he'll start loading up on guys who want that, too.

Actually, they didn't play very well, they just cashed in on the chances they got. Bucky outshot us by 2 to 1 margin, but Robson kept us in it. Third period was a wild one with a total of 6 goals scores between the teams.
Tonight should be a fun one with a 40th anniversary celebration of '79 championship team, which included the core of the Miracle on Ice team. Will be a full house tonight!

I heard a good portion of Beyond the Pond on KFAN this morning with Steve Ulseth from the '79 team talking about Herbie and other stories....it was a great show. If anybody gets the time I would check it out once the Podcast is posted on their site.

Watching the Gophers v Wisconsin game tonight. Flipping between this one and the Duluth game.

Sweet goal by Gates. That was one of the most beautiful scoring plays I've seen in years.

Bill Baker in the booth right now. He's an oral surgeon in Brainerd. I swear I've seen him around town.

The anti-'79 team. Kind of symmetrical.

Didn't get the puck luck on the pipe shots like the ones that went in last night, instead they went out tonight. With the way this team plays, they got what they deserved tonight. Too bad they couldn't show a little more pride in the M on their jerseys with probably the best Gopher team ever in the arena watching tonight.

THAT was awesome
My favorite Gopher team
Magical year.
So I've always got a story.
Its my senior year of HS, we're finished up with BB, and our coach gets us tickets to a Gopher BB game in the Barn on the same Saturday as the Natty Championship game.
So we leave for the game that morning, worried about getting back home in time to follow the game (probably on radio)
Its snowing like a mother when we leave. Its snowing like a mother at the game. Its snowing like a mother as we head home.
We crawl out of the cities following a semi, we stop every mile or two and literally push cars off the roadway so we can get thru ... that goes on for hours, we get as far as Franklin Mn and the road comes to an abrupt end.
Cars piled up everywhere, end of the road. We get shuttled into town, the school opens up its gym for us and we spend two full days playing dodgeball and eating peanut butter and drinking milk in the cafeteria.
A couple of us (hey, we were seniors and the season was over) .... disobey orders and head uptown (what uptown there was) and find the only open bar.
Sat in there and listened as the Gophers brought it home. Finally headed home Monday morning, but only made it to the outskirts of home. had to spend another night at a friends house, before walking the remaining couple miles the next day.
Yeah, times have changed.

Friday night was weird, but fun.
Everything went in .. and Wiscy acted like morons.
Saturday returned to the norm.
We're better than people. That never means we will win.

Btw ... does Wisconsin have a factory that turns out 5 foot 3 hockey players? That's weird.

Since they start drinking from a bottle at 2 months, all that booze stunts their growth over there in the land of cheese and beer.

Watching the game on FSN+.

I think Bemidji State might have better attendance at their games.

One of the weakest goals you'll ever see given up by Robson. Gophers trail 3-1
