The penalty called against the Gophers in OT was an absolute joke....and it ended the season. Pretty frustrating. Motzko let the refs know it. Good for him.

Sorry to hear it. They really turned things around at the end of the season.

Yup, the Gophers finally started playing some pretty good hockey the last few weeks. Too little too late.......
I was encouraged by the play of the some of the young guys for next season. Really need to work on defense for next year though, as I doubt they will have Robson around to bale them out time after time.

How did he do in the Junior Leagues?

I just read the recap of his USHL time with Omaha.

His game has changed a lot
No longer the alpha point man
Has adapted his game to fit his body, will be a space-eater
Solid forward. I'm surprised the Gophers stood behind Lucias promises to him, but glad they did.

So what is the university going to do to fill the seats at Mariucci this year? The consensus seems to be that the switch to the BigTen conference dealt a death blow to the fan base, but is there anything that will bring fans back?

Basically was that around here, even as an 8th and 9th grader, just a man amongst boys
They all get caught up to, but good for him that he stuck with it.

The upside/downside is that we live in a state that is so hockey-centric that we produce a ton of excellent players - but they have a lot of options of where to play. I know it's been discussed here many times that it used to be that Gopher hockey was the ultimate dream for young kids growing up here. But there are excellent programs at Duluth/Bemidji/Mankato/St. Cloud... that the Gophers don't always get the cream of the crop anymore.

Again, another national title might fix that too.

Of course it was a loss. Gophers were playing an NCHC school.

I watched the whole game last night and it was a very entertaining college hockey game. Was a bummer the Gophers had the lead most of the game and let it go in the end, but was still a fun game to watch. A couple of very young teams that will only grow and get better. No TV tonight, so stuck watching and hoping the Wild can find a way to win at home.....

I sure wish they would have been on TV last night to save me from wasting time on the Wild.....
A good weekend for them getting a split against a quality team on the road.

Gophers on FSN and Bulldogs on FSN+ tonight, both with 7 PM start times. I wish they were 7 and 7:30 so it is easier to jump back and forth.

Gophers win a sloppy one 3-2 in OT and UMD smoked by Bucky Badger 6-2 last night. I didn't watch much of the UMD game, but every time I switched over to it they were talking about another Bucky goal it seemed. Finally just quit jumping over and watched the Gophers give up turnovers again and again in our zone. LaFontaine was the star of the game in goal the way he baled them out time and again.

Gophers get the weekend sweep and UMD beat again by Bucky. Gophers still have a long ways to go, but there weren't quite as many bad turnovers last night as there were Friday. Some young kids that look like they have a chance to become very good and will be fun to watch as they grow and improve. Having this team to follow just may take some of the edge off of the cluster that is across the river at the X.

UMD too much for the Gophers last night, but every game is a good learning experience this early in the season. We get another shot at the reigning champs tonight in Duluth so here's hoping we can get a split.
