Looks like he might have gone with the Herbie approach. Ease up when they are struggling. He injected humor into a practice this week, by telling the players he was trying a new goalie. Just as the current goalies were getting pissed off, out skates P.J. Fleck in goalie equipment. Apparently Motzko cut it a little short because the kids were showing Fleck no mercy.

Alex Turcotte's father is Alfie Turcotte of the Montreal Canadiens. Can't say I remember him.

Status: online 		Gophers over Notre Dame 3-2 in 2 OT. Goes in the books as a tie, but got the extra point in B10 standings. These young kids are going to be fun to watch as they grow and get better over the course of the season. Be nice if they could come back and get a win today.

Yeah, Lucia hung around way too long and that really hurt this program.
Looks like we have a very good young core coming up, but as always, the question is will they stick around long enough to accomplish anything.

Which was worse last night? The Gophers getting blized by Penn State or the TWolves not being able to guard Beal or Wagner?

I say the former....Twolves have never been consistently good. Gopher hockey was the one constant in MN sports where you knew the team would regularly be in contention for the frozen four.

Now we play a team with two players from Finnland on the roster and two from Russia.

I liked it better when the Gopher players would face Russians in the Olympics, not the regular collegiate season.

Gopher fans hated opposition was hated in part because UND used Canadians on the roster.

Status: online 		Gophers take game one 4-1 against Bucky Badger last night. Got 2 quick goals early and a couple in the 3rd and played a pretty good game. Fun watching these young guys improve from game to game. If they all stay together long enough they could become a very good team. Play another strong game tonight for a sweep would really be nice.

Status: offline 		I don't get many Gopher games these days because of kids and geography but I got this one tonight. I think we are in good hands with Motz (may take some time though). We have a lot of young talent and I like how they move the puck.
