Another solid period. These kids are really starting to turn a corner. I don't know much about OSU but they are ranked 6th so they must be, at least, decent. We look just as good (better but it's early).

He didn't score but Ranta is a legit stud. He's shockingly "not a Fin" in his play. He's uber aggressive and plays more like a Swede, TBH. In fact, it pisses me off that he's an Ave because he reminds me of Forsberg.

Bold prediction time.

If these Frosh/Sophs stay at least through their Junior year, this is a Frozen Four team. They play the right way and Bryce Brod just said what a young Grant Poltuny would say at the intermission. Future looks very bright. They seem to understand to keep their heads down and work. Nothing is given because you have talent.

Gophers stole Motzko from SCSU. SCSU hired an assistant from a team that we dominated. I guess the Gophers are rising now and the Huskies are sinking.

I'm not sure how many games you have seen this season, but this is by far the best they have looked all year.
They dominated OSU this weekend and may have turned the corner, time will tell.

Gophers keep it rolling and take down Bucky 6-2 on Friday night. Started a little slow, but have some guys that can snipe when open and took advantage of their chances to score 3 in matter of minutes to put it out of reach. Would love for them to get a road sweep and keep it going tonight.

Gophers take out Bucky 4-2 on Saturday to complete the road sweep and in the process jumped to within 1 point of first place in the B10.
Still probably a long shot to make a run in the NCAA's this year, but they are becoming a team that is fun to watch again. A few months ago they were almost unwatchable and now they are playing like a team. And, for the first time in what seems likes years, they aren't afraid to go into the hard areas and work for their chances.

Something has changed
Another big test coming up, but that was maybe the most-enjoyable weekend of Gopher hockey, in years.
And yes, I keep saying that lately.

Let's just say we are watching this young group grow into a pretty good hockey team. After this weekend we have Notre Dame and Penn State on the road, so we will find out a lot in the next 2 weeks. I want to see the Gophers play Penn State competitively for a change as they have owned us badly in recent years.

I missed the game today, but I guess we were due for a let down at some point. Losing 4-2 will hopefully put a bad taste in their mouth's and push them to get back to work.

Started out really good but we're down 3-2 headed in to the 3rd. I hate Nanne on the point when we are on the PP. I don't get enough Gopher coverage these days but when I do he's a TO machine there.

Got the goal to tie and damn near beat em' in the OT. Salvaged a point in OT. The standings are now:

Penn St and the Boys at 33 but we have 2 games in hand. We are building something.

It was great to see a fast start last night, but a lull in the 2nd erased it when we had trouble clearing the zone cleanly. Nice to get the extra point in the shoot out for 2 points. Would be nice to get 3 more points today and keep up the pace. Sure sucks that every time we go to Notre Dame one of the 2 games isn't on TV.

Gophers get a 2-1 win and take 5 of 6 points for the weekend, can't complain about that. Next up is our kryptonite, Penn State on the road. The way we have played them in recent years I would be happy to see a split next weekend.
