I don't think Manziel gets out of the top 5.

Me either. Quite unattractive to boot.

I'll be interested to see where Mayock and a couple other draft guys have him ranked/scouted. I'm not sold on him at all, but I'm the first to admit I'm not an expert. What some of these guys think of him will be interesting. Last year they weren't so high on him, maybe he did more this eyar.

You guys, even though you aren't trying to, are making my original point. I've not seen the research or read the book ect... But if what you are saying is true (and i have no reason to believe it's not) why is it ok for a LB to get laid out by a QB but the reverse is 15 yards?

That's all i was going for. The logic is absurd to me.

QB's are more protected under the rules of the game currently. It's taking some time for everyone to come around to this way of thinking. Eventually I think most vicious hits are going to be illegal.

Yeah, i get the reasoning, just don't think its fair.

I didn't see the QB lay out the LBer. Was it a legal block, in the course of the play? Or was after the play was dead?

Course of play. QB ran the ball and just blew a LB up. It was a thing of beauty.

I'm not seeing the correlation between the 2 plays.

2 very legal plays that involve the QB. One considered "a warrior type play by the QB" since he initiated the contact. Sideline jacked, momentum swing.

2 plays later, said QB gets his ass handed to him, like he just dished out, outside the pocket, as a run, and it's "unnecessary roughness".

I hate the double standard. That's my only point.

Wasn't the QB carrying the ball when he "jacked" the LBer? Did he go out of his way to hit the LBer, giving up yards to gain? Wasn't the LBer trying to tackle him?

I would be surprised if Manziel isn't drafted in the 1st 5 picks.

I hope the Vikes get him.

In order for the Vikes to get him, they'll need something to make him slide like Patterson. Something about him being raw, low wonderlic score, off the field trouble, trouble with drugs, injury concerns, size concerns, over analysis of his poor games, etc .... Something....

Im not sure why you keep calling the hit on the QB legal. It was not. The white hat got it right.

Where is Dick Neusendorker and his standard post game bashing of Nebraska and his total trashing of their Coach, Bo Pelini?

oh, wait, the Huskers beat a ranked SEC team in a bowl game.. so he got nothing...

That "throw it deep on third and forever from the 1 inch line" from your own endzone, was the gutsiest play call of the game and most perfect execution of a suprise play, I have ever seen...

That play Crushed the sprits of the bulldogs and they choked Twice on Fourth and short, on drives to take the lead in the fourth quarter.

good Job Huskers..

in more dissapointing news the Hawkeyes got beat by LSU....

Why was it illegal? It's a case of differing opinions. I thought it was clean. Both, actually.

IDK; The media is lining up to blow him because of last night, but if he doesn't tank the last two games they would have been playing a tougher opponent than Duke.

Scouts will look at his total body of work.

To even try to guess who is picking who, before the combine, when these teams don't even have coaches is ridiculous.

Never saw the play but sounds like retaliation to me. If you get ran over by a ball carrier and then seek out said player just a few plays later that is an easy call for the zebras

My guess is the club has carry and loft. A person says "awesome" I'll take the set. (we get a couple of fortunate swings and we buy them regardless if the clubs are correct for the individual)

Speaking of hockey and brain damage... Seems like the NHL is kind of late to this national pity party. I don't really understand the game, but holy hell those guys beat the crap out of each other. Sticks to the melon, getting checked into the boards at 30mph, and of course throwing hands. Come on, hockey--where's the guilt?!

And it can be done without all of that.

Female Hockey has rules that prevents all that stuff.  A lot of youth hockey does as well.

But the NHL wont ban it because they believe it sells...and the sad thing is, they're probably right.

And speaking of future Vikings, can I get off the David Shaw party bus? Was he trying to make a point with the play calling? I don't often see all lb's running straightforward at the snap nearly every play, and yet he kept running it right up the gut. Not the first such showing either--blew the Utah game the same way.
