4 picks in the 1st 2 rounds and the only guy who looks decent is Rudolph and even he underachieved this year

No gems either from the mid rounds

2 really poor drafts

That is how you get a team that loses 10 games

No he didn't.  For most of the year he had Christian Ponder throwing him the ball.  Give him a better QB and he's a stud.

It's pretty hard to gauge a receivers progress with the quality of our QB's.

Do you see Rudolph open a lot and the QBs not attempting to get the ball to him?

Yes, as I saw Greg Jennings running wide open all year (Especially when Ponder was back there)

I agree with Steve, it's almost impossible to gauge how any of our talent translates with this collection of QB fodder.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I'm not quite sure how Christian Ponder could look at anyone in the face after leaving film study on Monday mornings after the Sunday game. It appeared he constantly missed even his hot reads consistently.

I've seen him make a lot of great catches in traffic.

We need a QB that can throw into tight coverage(like Rogers).

Spielman is getting all the acolades of last years draft only cuz of 2 1st rd picks. Hard to screw up at the top of the draft but he sure f-up with Ponder. Then he trade the rest of the draft for Patt cuz he knew he was lost after the top guys were all picked

Like you say once Spielman gets out of the 1st round he's simply dreadful. You could throw darts at pictures and find better talent

Rudy is very good but, IMO, he cant be elite with his speed

you can be kinda slow and still make it, but that dude is crazy slow....he can be very good, but i doubt he will every be a top 3 TE

We also have to take into the OC and what plays he is calling. For all we know he is just giving the QB 2 reads. We hardly ever, repeat ever saw Ponder change the play at the los. We know he isn't dumb since he graduated in 3 yrs. could it be that our OC felt he knew what was best because we saw AP running into 8 man fronts where they should have audibled out of the run

This is why there is no reason to give him big money when his rookie deal is up. We can draft guys like him and plug them in like Chase Ford.
Until we land a TE with some crazy skills, like a Gronk, or a V Davis almost any guy can play that position as good as Rudy

yeah, very little correlation between book smarts and football smarts

Terry Bradshaw or Pat Haden?!!!

Heck, Colin Kaepernick doesn't appear to be a rocket scientist in interviews but on the field would you take him or Ponder?

Haden was a good QB.

Bradshaw played with arguably the greatest dynasty football has ever seen.

Appreciate ESPN making the game easy to see tonight. (for those of us limited to a computer)

Btw .. I think they should play every huge game in the Rose Bpwl
I've always loved that place. (for viewing)
Colorful, always in great shape, Love how close the fans seem and the old-school bowl feel to it.

Here here Scott! Been to two Rose Bowl games, and other then the benches it's an amazing venue...

They should have a few more Super Bowls there.
