Sounds like Alex Cora gets the Boston job.
Will wait until the Astros are done before announcing it officially.
Pretty good hire for them.

If it is the Yankees and Dodgers, I won't be upset. At least it's the two REAL flagship teams of baseball. Not Cubs-Yankees, which I'm sure MLB actually wanted.

Biggest surprise for me is that the Astros haven't used Brad Peacock at all......one of their most dominant pitchers.

General manager Mike Rizzo tells reporters that the decision had nothing to do with contractual negotiations (Twitter links via Jorge Castillo of the Washington Post). In fact, there were never any actual negotiations, and no contract was offered to Baker. “Winning a lot of regular season games and winning divisions is not enough,” said Rizzo.

Maybe he can only play if the game is on NBC.

Not sure why Correa didn't go for a double on that one.

OMG, no doubt in my mind that swing by Frazier was THE WORST I have ever seen from a major league player!

CC (and a full pen) vs Charlie Morton tonight.
Go Yanks!

I gotta be honest, I just have not watched this series. I am going to watch tonight. I have gone from hoping the Yankees get swept by Cleveland to accepting a situation where they can compete in the World Series against LA.

These aren't the same Yankees. I can say first hand that two weeks ago to this exact moment people were calling in to WFAN asking for Joe Girardi's head on a platter as I was tooling down the open winding roads of Ulster County, NY. I have to admit I tuned in to hear Yankee fans going nuts just so I could laugh, but what has happened since was totally unexpected. While I hoped the Yankees would be wiped out in game three they didn't go away. I didn't watch...I haven't watched....I've just waited for the Yankees to die so I could take a deep breath and go AHHHHHH

Now I'm actually pumped to see the game tonight. Guys like Gardner, CC and Joe Girardi are just impossible to hate. I listen to WFAN going to and from work. It's background noise because I'll take sports over news. I have to say the Yankee fans have really given Girardi a lot of shit. I honestly don't watch their games and don't give a rip about them, but I find myself rooting for Girardi and a couple of players on that team. I know that you have been a Girardi guy. I have to say he'd look good on our bench. On my list of names for guys to coach the Twins he'd be right up there. It's funny because he gets criticized for a lot of the same things Gardy did. They call him "Binder Joe" because he's always going by the cookbook. He also loves to make nicknames like Gardy did. He actually calls Hicks, "Hicksie"
One thing Girardi has is the respect of his players. He's had visible spats with some players on the field and in the dugout, but he doesn't prey on young players and he doesn't throw guys under the bus, but he will have it out with his players. His style of managing has allowed this team to grow. I have to give the guy full marks for hanging in there like granite this year. Much like us, nobody but NOBODY who is a Yankee fan (that I knew) expected them to be much over .500 and a lot of them were just about done with Girardi. Heck, there is STILL talk in these parts about him taking over the Mets. That's plain crazy. If the Yankees let him go after this season it would be insane. Cashman isn't that dumb, but a whole lot of Yankee fans are.

You have no idea how hard it is for me to say this. I'm quietly rooting for them tonight.
If they don't win then I'm fine with that too.
I'm just not bothered by the Yankees going to the WS and possibly winning. I know my brother lives and dies with them and he's been down on his luck. If this is going to make him happy then I am all for it

Nothing tops Game Sevens
Hope this is a good one.

Yanks hitting all their long balls to center
Sanchez on with a single.
Hicksie not-quite-ready-for-prime-time yet.

I know McCann is slow, but I woulda thought anyone could get to 3B on that. Probably didn't matter, but it puts more pressure on the pitcher to keep it out of the dirt.
